I think Cortez has retained his old look or at least his black hair: http://www.youtube.c...kyoRFcvA#t=497s

You can see a guy to the right with black hair where the supposed blondie was standing in the backround of the Vega sparring pic.

At the very least, this means the supposed blonde guy who was thought to be Cortez on the Normandy has black hair.

Wait, this guy?

The only thing I can make out is that he's headless. Maybe that tiny white line where the top of his head should be is the hair? :P That, and the white ends of sleeves are slightly longer than in the Bailey (?) pic = updated design (presuming he was wearing the generic alliance uniform)?

Those are seperate lines. Speaking of, a noticed more lines when you can flirt with Vega as FemShep but not as ManShep.  Hmmm...

Yeah, they are, but notice how gender neutral the flirting line is. James clearly calls femShep Lola and manShep Loco so long as you let him. However, the "Are you flirting with me Commander?" doesn't specify Shepard's gender. If he was meant only for femShep then I imagine the line would read: "Are you flirting with me Lola?" It seems pretty deliberate and would make sense from financial point of view: just have Freddie record that line as gender neutral and use it twice (once for manShep and once for femShep).

That's speculation, of course, but I always found it interesting that flirting line never had a Lola or Loco counter-part.

Ugh. Don't you have your own thread?

I'd like it if heterosexuality was completely invisible to homosexual players but they're not gonna get that. As long as it's not forced on your Shep it need not be an issue. You will at least get that. Meanwhile my Shep's grinning like a damn moron because Shiala propositioned him.

If you turn it to 1080p you can see a small neckline indicating his head is at least partially upright, with his dark hair blending in with the darkness. I would think blonde hair would stick out.

I *did* turn it up to 1080p and I still couldn't see anything - though that might be due to this ancient monitor I'm currently stuck with (a 14'' CRT). Maybe you can take a better screenshot?

...isn't watching 1080P on a CRT pointless? I mean...without a HD screen what's the point? :?  It just downconverts right?

I do see the white neckline though. (had to enlarge the screen because my eyesight sucks balls). Plus I only have a 720p screen.

True enough. (ala my edit). Though yes there's a neckline from what I can see. Everything above that is pitch black. Not sure if it's my screen, my horrible eyesight or both.

True, but there are several lines in the script later where the flirting is clearly for FemShep.  Assuming the lines you said is true, it would make Bioware the biggest tease if ManShep could use THAT line and not the others.

Which lines? Everything remotely flirty I've found that mentions "Lola" has a "Loco" equivalent in the same area.

Edit: Actually, I forgot about the part where he's talking about EDI and there's only a "Sorry, Lola". Hm. But are there other lines?

Like this line for FemShep only:

Vega: A super-hot, sexy home. You take her on mission, I'm gonna be just a little bit distracted.
Shepard: Even more distracted.
Vega: Sorry, Lola.

Also:

FemShep: Lola, huh?
Vega: You kind of look like a Lola.
FemShep: You're cute... so I'll let you get away with it. For now. (flirty)
Vega: That's it... now you made me blush.

ManShep: Loco, huh?
Vega: I can think of worse things to call you.
ManShep: As long as you remember who's in charge, you can call me whatever you want. (not-flirty)
Vega: Oh, I won't forget.

And when he meets Jack:

Vega: I don't know, Loco. I kinda like her.
Vega: I don't know, Lola. She kinda reminds me of you.

And Vega's nickname for Femshep refers to his friend's hot sister (implying attraction), as opposed to ManShep's which just means crazy:

Vega: Yeah, my best friend's sister growing up was Lola. Older sister. Hot. Tough.
Vega: I mean... I'm pretty crazy, but the **** you've done? Makes me look sane.

There's no way of knowing with Loco if that's simply the renegade response (for both female or male Shep) or not. Same with the "you're cute." line. The rest though I see where you're coming from. There's no way the devs are gonna force FemShep to be flirty when she accepts Vega's nickname. Not after the backlash from Jacob.

Add that to the fact that his romance is obviously incomplete (he doesn't seem to have the final scene everyone else has) and it's pretty up in the air.

Hopefully Cortez is interesting enough AND exclusive. Having a definitively gay character who's cool and fun is the only way I'll get over Vega...

Yeah, that top bit about being distracted is what I was talking about - though I do think accepting the Loco nickname could be flirty. It all depends on the delivery, I guess. It is starting to look like he'll be o/s exclusive, though. :(

A page or two late, but there are several CSec folks in ME2 who wear Alliance gear. (Gets real obvious if you use a texture replacer.) The outfits are similar enough that the code monkeys can be forgiven for screwing up now and then and dressing an NPC in the wrong clothes.

Man. I have nine femSheps; each with a different history/psych profile combo, each with a different base headshape, and each with a different love interest (yay modding). That's already at least four too many, I'm only really attached to main!Shep, Butcher!Shep, broken!Shep and renegade!Shep. I cannot go making yet another one for this Samantha chick, I am at femShep capacity already. D:

As for Vega: honestly, "You can call me whatever you want" is a pretty flirty thing to say, depending.

This one depends, honestly. I think the way the "Oh, I won't forget" line is delivered is pretty crucial to determine whether or not this dialogue for manShep is flirty or not. Also, we have to remember that there is a third line: you can just as easily tell him not to call you that and he won't (he'll keep calling you "commander"). These two lines could be the flirty ones while the third isn't.

Or perhaps there are options: 1) accept nickname (flirt) 2) accept nickname (neutral) 3) refuse nickname (renegade). Meaning, manShep could simply be using the neutral option, while femShep uses the flirt option in the script. In this case, femShep's neutral lines would simply be:

FemShep: Lola, huh?
Vega: I can think of worse things to call you.
FemShep: As long as you remember who's in charge, you can call me whatever you want.
Vega: Oh, I won't forget.

After all, not every femShep will want to flirt with Vega, I bet.
My point is, there could still be a flirt option for manShep (the one femShep uses).

I've noticed that Bioware has made Cortez a shuttle pilot, and that implies that he WILL NOT be totally ignored or easily killed by homophobic players (yes, I am labeling the intentional hostility directed toward a fictional gay character because of his sexuality as homophobic). I SERIOUSLY doubt that he will initiate any romances or flirt with male Shepard no matter how "realistic" the scene is written, but I do wonder if his preference will come up in a "straight" Shepard game. Something to the effect of, "I lost my husband a year ago," or "I just broke up with my boyfriend."

Worth noting that they had Anders basically tell male Hawke that he had a male lover without Hawke needing to flirt. Though, Dragon Age is vastly more gay inclusive so far.

I'd be pretty disappointed if they shy away from revealing that bit of character background to male Shepards who are in a straight relationship or didn't/aren't flirting with Steve.

FemShep: You're cute... so I'll let you get away with it. For now. (flirty)

Why do you mark this as female Shepard? I don't remember any labels in the actual files. Are there?

For me, it's less what Shepard can/does say and more that Vega is openly appreciative of women (but no/next to no indication for men) in the files that makes me suspect that he's straight only.

That and the possibility that he's the designated "bro" character, like Garrus (who is almost certainly not S/S in ME3) or Alistair. And that we've never really had a burly/etc M/M love interest.

There are no labels in the files.

Which is why I'm really confused as to why people are labeling convos that are in the air as femShep only/male Shep only.

Unless the person Shep is talking to uses his/her gender or is something that only a certain shep would have (say only dude Shep would have a conversation about a continuing romance with Ash). I don't understand the labeling not having a ? mark.
