There's also not necessarily a Zevran scenario where the character can be killed obviously and easily. Many characters can be killed in ME3, but it's rarely made clear beforehand that it's going to happen.
Ooh, I approve.

Cortez's orientation is made very obvious. One of the first conversations Shepard has with him mentions his dead husband, the next one features the last hologram message from the dead husband, and Steve's entire friendship/romance arc revolves around moving on from the dead husband (hello, Carth). Every squadmate has a 'date' scene (though it can be friendship-based), and in his Steve constantly talks about watching the men in the crowd rather than the asari strippers.
What!?
RAGE!!!
Not ElitePinecone. The ME3 writers.

It's more like the Suicide Mission, I guess - if you don't do preparation steps x, y and z, the person [X] you choose for a particular mission might die. I'm not entirely sure how it works.
Of course it means the system can be metagamed (just like people metagamed the SM) so that if you really wanted to kill off a particular character, you possibly could.
But it's nowhere near as easy as Zevran, say, where the game gave you a dialogue option on first sight.

I read through Steve's lines and I never got the impression that constituted his whole romance and friendship arc.
Maybe not the entire thing, but certainly a fair chunk of it. The husband is Steve's "issue" that Shepard works through, just like Fehl for Vega. It's the focal point of the early conversations.

I'm not willing quite yet to call Carth levels of annoying.

It's a decent deviation from the constant dead wives/girlfriends, at least.

Oh, certainly.
I'd even call it subversive, which is really nice. Subverting story tropes (even Bioware story tropes) is an interesting choice, and I like the way it's done in ME3.
Another thing: everyone calling Steve 'old', remember that Shepard is 32 or 33.
One of Cortez' dialogues suggests he's been in the Alliance for about ten years, so... unless he enlisted really late, Shepard and Steve would be roughly the same age (if not Shepard being a few years older)
Unless the 'old' thing was just based on a misinterpretation of the Bailey pic?

@Elite: Shep's 29-30! The years he/she spent dead don't count! *shoves fingers in ears in denial* And yes I knocked a year off his age. Don't care.

Fenris didn't talk about about how attractive his female teammates were or stare at the rear end of one of them. Bioware is really pushing that he's into women, way more so than the other teammates.
... if you're implying that Vega does do those things, with this, then there better be a dialog option to tell him to cut that sh*t out or get the hell off my ship. <_<
(Of course, I didn't get one to ream out Donnelly and Daniels for that stuff about Miranda's chest, so probably this is another one I'll just have to seethe furiously and impotently over, but DAMMIT BIOWARE STOP THAT.)

Does it have to do with male characters/party members specifically, or just in general?

The thread IS pretty big now. And once the game comes out and IF IF IF any of the previous LIs are now "bi," you KNOW it's gonna explode.

I think inappropriate sexual comments is all Donnelly and Daniels were there for anyway, considering all their dialogue. That and coughing up 500 credits to Shepard during poker games.

That might give a tad bit more credence to the idea that the "You're my brother, Kaidan" line is male Shepard turning Kaidan down.

Good news for Kaidan m/m mancers.

How will a same sex romance work in ME3? I wouldn't mind it but I don't see how it would be as meaningful to have a Femshep/Ashley or Manshep/Kaiden relationship if it didn't happen from the start. I mean after all to me the ME2 relationships seemed a little rushed or tacky when compared to meeting the VS on Horizon or Liara in LotSB.
Kaidan or Ashley is a full time team members as is Vega. That is plenty of time for a Bioware romance since MOST Bioware games only have one-game romances. The option will be there to start a NEW romance with Shepard and VS in ME3. We ASSUME it will be "bi" since the save game editor at the start of the game already allows you to check off that you are in a romance with past LIs so why have a NEW romance start in ME3 unless there is something "different" about it?

Okay so I'll have to start an entire new game for my fem/manshep to be able to romance the VS? Cause if anything I'd have wanted it to be a relationship that survied the years, instead of being a "Oh well okay after all this time I'm Bi now so yeah lets go out".
I mean is there any details that aren't leaked info on if it would be a legit fleshed out romance or just another lets please everyone choice?

From the looks of it, the new romance with them (O/S or S/S) is just as valid as the other romances.
