Ah okay well if they do make the VS s/s I hope it's fleshed out and worth it.

There's already a group for people who 'support heterosexuality in the Mass Effect series'. I have no idea what is discussed there. I'd suggest you take any protests there, or to EA themeselves. There's no place to post it on the forums, because the moderators have determined that it's too controversial a topic to discuss.

Wait, what?  There is a "I support hetrosexuality in the Mass Effect series" group?  :lol:That just gave me a laugh attack.  That's like saying "I support guns in FPS games" or "I support rediculous amounts of swearing for no reason in modern games to make them look 'cool' to prepubescent 12 year olds".

Hmmm, anyway....  I have to stop reading this thread, I have stayed away from every promo video and news story about ME3 since last May or so but it seems I keep reading things I don't want to know, my own fault entirely I know.  My biggest problem will be on 14 February when the demo is released....

The group is specifically supporting heterosexuality in *opposition* to s/s content. It's a private group and I'm not sure how active it is (if it's active at all), but occasionally some signatures pop up.

I mean, presumably you can support heterosexuality in Mass Effect while also supporting other types of romances. I know I do.

I try to keep spoilers to a minimum in stuff I post here, but apologies if anything has been a big spoiler. Since I read the leaks when it wasn't confirmed they were real, and pretty much spoiled the whole game for myself, I've become a bit blase about spoilers in general.

(Regarding the demo: the introductory level isn't *that* spoilery, but it does have a long opening cutscene that is interesting. The second level in the demo is definitely full of spoilers, since conversation options mention the overarching goal/plot of the game and it has a bunch of familiar characters.)

I figured the group was pro hetero to be anti gay, it seems so childish to me but who am I to judge?  Supporting something that exists by default and is "the norm" seems pointless.  I guess I'll run around Oxford St in Sydney next time I'm there with a sign yelling "I support heterosexual marriage!"     I half expected people to take what I wrote the wrong way and my post be deleted actually.

Thanks for the heads up about the demo, I am still debating but I know I'll give in and get it in the end.  No worries about the spoilers either, I KNOW they are here and know I shouldn't read them but I keep doing it :P

What I really need to do is finish my near complete re-run through ME1& start on 2 before March so I can correct my mistake of killing Kaidan the first time.  I do not even remember having the choice between him and that annoying IMO Ashley woman.  I liked Kaidan's character  much more than her.  I started playing it in May or June last year because I thought ME3 was coming in Decemeber and when I heard it was March, I stopped figuring I had plenty of time.  There are so many games waiting to be delivered to me next month too, argh.

Not yet, no.

Okay so I'll have to start an entire new game for my fem/manshep to be able to romance the VS? Cause if anything I'd have wanted it to be a relationship that survied the years, instead of being a "Oh well okay after all this time I'm Bi now so yeah lets go out".

I mean is there any details that aren't leaked info on if it would be a legit fleshed out romance or just another lets please everyone choice?

It's hard to make any judgements because we just don't know if the VS is an s/s option.

Even if they were, the dialogue looks like it's almost exactly the same for, say, mShep *newly* romancing Ashley and femShep *newly* romancing Ashley - at least according to the leaked beta script.

The 'new romance' path is fleshed-out and quite well-written. It makes references to an attraction being there (things like "I love you... I always have."), and that now Shepard and the VS think it's the right time to move things forward.

It's certainly not tacked-on, or invalid. As far as I can tell (and the chronology is a bit jumbled), at various points in the VS' arc in ME3, Shepard has certain lines that can spark a 'new romance' path. One of the pivotal moments is during a one-on-one conversation/date scene that all players get with most squadmembers (I think), regardless of whether that squadmember is a friend, LI or neutral.

That being said, even *with* the leaked data we don't know if these new romance paths with the VS are for one or both genders of Shepard. I doubt we'll get any sort of confirmation before release, so if you wanted to set up some new Shepards it basically boils down to whether or not you felt the time and effort to make them was worth the risk of the VS not being an s/s LI.

They are trilogy-spanning, in a sense, but only to the extent that a few lines make it clear that there was an attraction there.

S/S with Kaidan/Ashley isn't really confirmed.
From the looks of it, the new romance with them (O/S or S/S) is just as valid as the other romances.

I thought it was confirmed that there isn't any 'new' romances, but all romances are bi avaible in ME3? Anyhow, I'm curious if you maybe got to close, like in Mass Effect 2 where jack says shes not into that, or tali and the suit sharing thing would be considered as a flirt action and have a effect in 3 with fem shep.

Vega has apparently turned out to be an insufferable meathead? Why oh why does that make me want to romance him more? :\\

Been playing ME2 to establish my canon MShep for ME3 but I keep worrying I'm going to trigger romance flags with the female party members or flirt flags with female NPCs that I can't escape and that it's going impact on ME3 in a way that compromises my Shep. I'm overreacting? Yeah, 99% sure I am, but still.... Shiala, why did you turn into a shy horny highschool girl for no apparent reason!? D:

I'm not sure where everyone is getting the idea that there are no new romances... o_O

I mean, Casey did say something to that effect in an interview which was plastered across a lot of gaimg media, but literally a week later the s/s romances news led him to conclude that there were actually new romances in the third game.

The difference was: the "no new romances" interview was made a month before Bioware pushed back the launch date of ME3 and have themselves an exta six months to work on content.

So yes, there are new romaces in the game. We don't know if all ME3 LIs are bi, I'm tending to think not.

No ME2 LIs are available for re-romancing, as far as we know, so that means no femShep/Jack or Tali.

That doesn't make much of a difference to me, actually. I never saw ME2 LIs as real romances, more as flings than anything else (only bothered to romance Miranda).

We already know not ALL ME3 available romances are bi, since since Steve & Samantha are exclusively gay

I dont know if this was already discussed, but i wonder if a Femshep could get a romance option with Miranda in ME3. Did Bioware mention something about that ? I so so so so want that to happen *sigh*

Can someone answer for me if Bioware has confirmed (or through the leak) what characters are gay/bi? I would greatly appreciate no other spoilers :) Thanks

Other than the two newly introduced ones (and I'm not exactly sure if that's a Bioware confirmation or something people have deduced from the leak), no. Nor do I expect they will at any point. They've been pretty resistant to queries about that so far.

Apparently it's a story spoiler to explain who is and isn't in advance.

It was said that we won't be able to start any romances with ME2 LIs, only continue them, so I'm thinking "no" on that one.

AFAIK, the devs haven't confirmed anything, but we do know from the leak that Samantha and Steve Cortez are most likely exclusively gay romances. Others (VS / Vega) are still up in the air, but I'm thinking straight.

I am really glad that they're finally allowing s/s romances but I can't help but think I'll be a little disappointed if the vs doesn't turn out to be bi. I want my manshep's first romance to be with someone who matters and has been involved in his whole story (Kaidan) or at least a squad mate (Vega). I should probably just be grateful for Cortez and I'm sure they'll do a great job with him though - I mean Joker is one of the best and most prominent characters in the series and he's technically not a squad mate...

I wonder why Garrus and Tali aren't available for a new romance, considering they are on the team in ME3 if alive, and were present in ME1, even if they weren't LI then. It never made sense to me in the first place why they weren't s/s, and I had wondered until recently if they were to be in ME3. Oh well, I'll be delighted if Ashley turns out to be a s/s option.

I suspect Garrus and Tali were s/s at first and then down the line it was taken out for time constraint reasons... but who knows for sure *shrugs* and I truly believe both Ashley and Kaidan will be s/s in ME3 (well I hope anyway) Posted Image

Hopefully! I have a Shep each for s/s Ashley and Kaidan (in fact, the femShep was from right back when I first started playing on ME1. I hoped she would eventually be interested. ^_^) It's too bad they didn't go ahead and make Tali and Garrus s/s options, considering Garrus doesn't seem to find humans physically attractive, and Tali seems to be quite into Shep regardless of gender. And she would have to remove the suit either way for physical shenanigans.

Probably because there's already enough new & old romances to take care of. And Tali & Garrus may both be dead, it's not like Ash & Kaidan who give plot armors to each other after Virmire

Oh! But can you imagine the glorious butt-hurt on this thread if they are s/s? The first angry Talimancer to come in here hollering "RETCON!" will make me pee my pants. I do not care about the angry Garrus fans because I will be happily building a new male Shepard just for my sexy dinosaur.

Agreed, I'm not against SS, I role them myself, but story wise Kaidan/Ashley should remain straight, sexual preferences are not changed on a whim.

EDIT, misread post, we are not in agreement

I think you read bigbrowncows post backwards. He'll be disapointed if they aren't s/s - which is to say if they are s/s he'll be happy.

Ok, this is way off topic but still in keeping with the s/s theme.

If anyone here happens to be a Fringe fan, I found this and I thought anyone who's a fan of that would enjoy this and anyone looking for other sci-fi s/s stuff, this would work as well.
