Blond hair (to me anyway) looks like s*** in the ME engine.

That and I don't overly dig blond pixel men in ME. (amended. I like them just fine in other games).

TBH I wouldn't mind if it was a squaddie (Vega or Prothy to be clear) but a minor character? Come on now!

And yes my Shep would bone Prothy. I say this with zero shame.

As for Kaidan, I may be mistaken, it's hard to tell sometimes. But either way, since you found Tali acknowleding M/M with Cortez, I would say this thing pretty much means that there's probably nothing
more to be looked for in terms of M/M with Kaidan/Vega in these files.
Either they added M/M to those characters in an update, or it's not in
the game period.

I wouldn't put it past Bioware to just put one M/M love interest in ME3.

This is my feeling also. 

Cortez seems to be indirectly acknowledged as an m/m LI through other characters' lines, but we haven't seen anything of the sort for Vega or Kaidan. 

It doesn't mean they aren't (because the script is really ambiguous) and it doesn't mean they won't be, but I'm beginning to think Cortez is the only m/m option, and Sam the exclusive f/f option, in ME3.

Mass Effect's engine can't render blond hair well.  Like, at all.

Also, Vega's romance hasn't been written in the files.  It could be Jacob levels of bad, we don't know yet.

In the new screenshot with Bailey the hair looks vastly better than it did in the ME and ME2. NO NO please don't make anymore romances like Jacob's(... the prize)

Definitely. I would prefer my Shepard to romance someone who fights side by side with him, every step of the way. Also, finally confessing love to each other after all that time? Would've made a powerful romance arc in my opinion. Sigh, Cortez better be a damn awesome character.

Well, I edited my previous post to say I'm currently doing a playthrough with a mShep in love with Kaidan, so...
But I'm all for Vega as well. On the other hand... Prothy? Really?
I can already see that one growing on me as well  No.

It's not written, but he's pretty much well established even then as a lover of women.
Then there's the gender specific Kaidan romance lines.

So at this point it's pretty much wait and see. When the demo rolls out, maybe those files can offer more information (provided that they didn't clean the demo files up to make up for the leak) like the DA2 demo files did (the DA2 files revealed romance information including that everyone was bisexual).

Character Creator hair (and Bailey & Steve both look like they were made in that kind of generator) seems to look just as bad as it did in ME1 and ME2.

I noticed that too.  Bioware really drives it home that Vega is girl-crazy, way more so than Kaidan or Jacob.

She mentions male Shepard being with Cortez in the big (and presumably latest) file, along with Ashley & Liara.
Which shows that male Shepard can start a new romance with Ashley but no indication that he can do so with Kaidan.

The test file excludes Cortez.

The latest one includes him.

At this point I'm starting to feel the same.
Gender specific Kaidan lines, Vega comparing female Shepard to hot women..in the files things seem pretty planned towards heterosexuality. So it would seem that they would have to change course - and why would they?

By that time they should have already known of the amount of people who wanted Kaidan for example to be M/M (and yet it's not in the files) - and seems too late for them to have noticed all of the people who wanted Vega M/M.

They can just go - "well, Steve's M/M exclusive and "the" gay choice - no one's upset about sexuality retcons or their bro (Garrus, Kaidan, Vega) hitting on their male Shepard - job's done."

I keep forgetting Vega. And I have him in my signature. Facepalm smiley. This forum needs one.

I like Cortez, too, but next to Kaidan and Vega, he's just not that appealing.

I think it's more than likely. Especially considering "But I guess you're not alone anymore. You've got Ashley" and "But I guess you're not alone anymore. You've got Liara" lines are right after each other, they go in pair, while the Cortez variation is in a completly different part of the script, put among totally unrelated lines. This, along with the lack of Cortez line in test file, proves m/m romances were late addition in the developement, they probably haven't done anything on them yet when they initially announced it.

We'll see how it will go. Not gonna lie, if non-squadmate turns out to be the only m/m LI, then they really went "fine! have your m/m romancs but only 1 and of course not with a squadmate" route... Will still be happy there's gonna be even one and Cortez seems like a great character, but I will be disappointed at the same time that they're still treating m/m players as second-class.

Honestly, not a lot of people outside this thread are clamoring for Vega and the like to be m/m...Almost every post on Vega/Kaidan on tumlblr is "I can't wait for my FemShep to romance him".  I don't think the demand is great enough.
