You want some discouragement? (If you don't stop reading this) The developers aren't specifically not talking about VS. They're not talking about any LI business regardless. Out of all characters Kaidan is the most unlikely to be available for ManShep, because there is another new human male, no blacklash provoking reveals or retcons necessary. [quote]
I really hope you're wrong about this, event though I fear you're right, because even in the also rather unlikely event that Vega is available for m/m, it would still leave me with two rather unappealing choices for romance in ME3 (unless they gave Steve a really cute custom face that we don't know about).
Honestly all I dare to hope for at this point is that my poor ManSheps will be offered the opportunity to at least express their homosexuality without romancing Steve (or Vega for that matter) since I'm getting rather tired of playing celibate heterosexuals.

Sure, yes, having two options would be pretty decent if ME3 was a stand alone game and not the last part of a trilogy.
However since one of those two options is an afterthought with in all probability a character generator created face and the other is at this point pure speculation and looks rather unappealing (as in instant cold shower) to me, I'm not particularly impressed at this point.

I'm not sure being the last part of the trilogy matters.Sure, yes, having two options would be pretty decent if ME3 was a stand alone game and not the last part of a trilogy.
It's not possible to put M/M on equal grounds with M/F or even F/F at this point.
Based upon what? A lot of people have looked at the script and concluded that his romance is developed and not a trivial diversion. However since one of those two options is an afterthough
I do expect that he has a character creator face (due to not being a squadmember or voiced/inspired by celebrity), but the context in which we saw it was very WIP. Could change.
Matter of taste.looks rather unappealing
There's a good number of gay players who would like Vega M/M and find him attractive.
He's definitely a fully fledged squad mate, too.

Yes, it is a matter of taste, however I do think that the fact that having more than one m/m option at this point is pure speculation will turn out to be far more important than the relative attractiveness of character models since, frankly, I believe that all we're going to get is Steve or heterosexual celibacy.
Also, while he may be a fully fledged squad mate, Vega cannot provide even the semblance of trilogy spanning romantic attraction, so even if he does turn out to be another m/m romance he won't be able to give us something every other romance already has.

It's impossible for them to give us everything other romances had. Kaidan wasn't an option in ME1 or ME2 (there was no male homosexual content in those games period), by default the straight ME1 options already have an advantage that can't be matched. Also, while he may be a fully fledged squad mate, Vega cannot provide even the semblance of trilogy spanning romantic attraction, so even if he does turn out to be another m/m romance he won't be able to give us something every other romance already has.
I would rather them focus on quality and content than to try to imitate something that's already a done deal. That's not mutually exclusive, but Kaidan can be dead at this point. I would rather there be 2 options by default for all male Shepards (Vega and Steve) than have only one because that Shepard happened to save Ashley (I didn't, but I'm sure there are some gay players or gay interested players who did).

Oh, am I all for some discouragement. Sadly, that's not really making me feel it, considering all the 4vs1 f/f to m/m choice options. But then I guess that might mean nothing, anyway. As for backlash, I think everything they announced received some at one point, hell, that might be why they're not putting the spotlight on s/s LIs at all, as people said.
We just won't know until the game comes out (or there some significant info in the demo), it's just that I'm tired of waiting for such seemingly non-spoilerific info.

It just ends abruptly. It's hard to even head canon because of the lack of dialog as you've mentioned.
That's
why I felt the "lost a limb" line in Horizon was rather awkward and
hard to believe if Kaidan wasn't romanced
Hmm, I guess we just had different impressions of the character.
Depends what you mean by closeted.
In this case, "never mentioned being into men because there was no need to", "no one explicitly asked" (no dialogue option

maybe he had feelings but discarded them as admiration for a superior officer or just friendship forged by serving together or something like this.
Isn't the 'losing you was like losing a limb'-line in the Horizon dialog regardless of Shepard's gender?
I'm probably just grabbing for straws here ...

I find Vega to be the most attractive male LI in any Bioware game yet. But then I prefer manly dudes.
Has it been confirmed that there are in fact two m/m options or is this all still speculation? If Steve is the only one surely he'll have a custom face if Diana does....right? =/

I disagree with that last part, it's very much possible for them to put m/m on equal footing with f/f.
F/F currently gets Liara, Samantha, Kelly and Diana, this could be more or less matched for m/m with Kaidan, Steve, fling with male npc1, fling with male npc2. If the distribution is instead Kaidan, James and Steve, m/m could even potentially exceed f/f in content, though not in choice at this point.
So can it be done, yes, will it be done, most assuredly, no.
Though at this point I'd be happy just to have the option to express a preference towards men even if I don't care to actually romance Steve. This could be done quite easily by giving all the new m/f romances an option to decline by saying you prefer guys.
This way even if I choose to remain celibate, I at least won't feel like I'm playing a celibate heterosexual.

It's all still speculation but at this point it does seem rather likely that Steve will have a character generator created face, but again even that is still speculation at this point. Hopefully we'll know more after the demo.

Preferably, though, if Kaidan is to be available for male Shepard, I'd like it to be a realization that he had feelings (for male Shepard, instead of suddenly discovering feelings for men in general) rather than hiding anything.
I wonder how they'll end up explaining those feelings for male Shepard if they do decide to do it.
Perhaps the "lost a limb" could be used as a hint that Kaidan discovered those feelings after mShep's death?

I saved Ashley simply to get the romance achievement. I never thought to reload back to Virmire to save Kaiden instead because frankly, I couldn't stand Ashley and preferred Kaiden's character much more.. I never cared about gay love interests in games because it was something I hadn't seen before. It wasn't until I played Dragon Age: Origins that it became a "thing" in my head.

I just finished re-playing ME1&2 so I could correct some "mistakes" I made the first time around, like letting Kaiden die. I was surprised by the Horizon conversation because I had only seen it on YouTube with a hacked male Shepard/Kaiden romance storyline. I did not expect the same dialogue for vanila manShep from Kaiden because it really does come across like he was/is in love with manShep to me.
The thing that annoyed me in my replay is that the first time around I saved EVERYBODY, all crew and squad mates yet this time Mordin died
Also, I romanced Jack in ME2 the first time around but (of course) not the second. I told her I was not interested in sex but it still went towards me romancing her so I told her I was not interested which pissed her off and I could no longer speak to her, she just screamed "F*** OFF!) everytime I tried speaking. That seemed a bit stupid to me.

The thing that annoyed me in my replay is that the first time around I saved EVERYBODY, all crew and squad mates yet this time Mordin diedas well as every single crew member but the doctor. I have no idea what I did wrong the second time. Maybe all that time I spent mining after getting the suicide mission is what made the crew die? I never knew it was time based.
Also, I romanced Jack in ME2 the first time around but (of course) not the second. I told her I was not interested in sex but it still went towards me romancing her so I told her I was not interested which pissed her off and I could no longer speak to her, she just screamed "F*** OFF!) everytime I tried speaking. technically this should go to another thread like this
but to quickly address some issues
- Mordin died on my first playthrough when I appointed him to lead the other team
also if you follow the link, they have lists with the order in which crewmembers will die in other situations
- the abducted crew will indeed die if you spend too much time after they are taken, depending on the amount of missions you do between the abduction and the rescue none of them dies, half of them dies or all save Chakwas die
as for the Jack romance, I read that bioWare will address the issue of Jack being **** you unless you romance her, let's see how that turns out in ME3
I just finished talking to Anders after the Horizon mission and he said something like the report confirming what Shepard had said, so I guess Kaidan at least stayed true to his word and let the others make their own conclusions and wasn't trying to make them anti-Shepard
and Kaidan also must've tried to show that the Reapers are behind it, but we know how the council (alien or human) react to that
so, save for jumping at the opportunity to leave the life behind them that they built after Shepard 'died' the VSs don't seem to carry any childish grudges against Shepard ...
I can't stress it enough, I think the VSs were right on Horizon, I just wish it had been possible to resolve the whole thing differently

Alright, arguments against Kaidan being m/m are still valid. BW's not always absolutely honest about spoilers. Might as well be a joke, since it doesn't really say anything. We interpret only a "coded" message.
