IF both Kaidan and Vega are "bi," Bioware will probably make it possible to start a "new" straight romance with Garrus. I can't see Bioware NOT making at least one "new" "straight" only male LI in ME3.

EDIT: When I say "new" romance in ME3, I mean one that a NEW player, who has NEVER played a ME game before, can actually start and not just choose a LI from a pre-game comic book like ME2.

Eh it's not like there's not precedent. *looks at JE and DA2* Plus if they really want a m/f exclusive option they can just romance someone from ME2.

I had no idea that JE even had a s/s male LI until YEARS after I played it and read about it on the BSN. Thankfully for s/s fans, s/s LI are no longer buried.

If it were up to me Bioware would make a couple of overt s/s LI, a couple overt o/s LIs, a couple of quiet LIs, and make them ALL hero-sexual.

Actually, they kinda still are. Cortez has literally copy+paste "gay romance toggle" like Sky had and I bet Vega and/or Kaidan will have something similar. Yeah, it's not like they're hiding the fact COrtez is gay, but they made it 100% sure you don't see even the slightest hint/sign of romance until you declare you 're hot for guys first.

So far as I know, the gay Sky romance is only possible if you didn't pursue either of the two female love interests.

Tali mentions Shepard being with Cortez and no longer with her, so it doesn't seem to be the same case.

What would you prefer? To learn about the romances now to get it over with or learn when the game comes out?

Now. I preffered to learn about it 8 months ago already. If I'm gonna learn that it ain't happening, then what's the point in waiting months/week? Better learn bad news asap

I would PREFER to wait until the game comes out, but I can't help but peak at the spoilers when they're posted. The problem is that I like to come to BSN and I KNOW that if ANY of the past LIs are "retconed" there will be NO end to the nerd rage on this thread and the hundreds of instant troll threads that will hit after the demo is hacked.

I am trying to convince myself to just avoid the BSN till a week after I start playing the actual game.

That still won't keep the dudebros from whining. Hell, a hundred or so pages back with had that long winded whiner who was complaining that his immersion was ruined when he saw a "heart icon" option during a conversation with Fenris. Just wait till a player comes across a "I'm gay!" dialog option for Shepard. The mere acknowledgement in HIS game that out there, somewhere, a player is role playing a gay Shepard, will be enough to shatter his fragile immersion.

And he will rage. For hours. In the bathroom. With the sink running.

Romance spoilers are the only kind I'm into. Because I like to plan them ahead. XP

So I'm almost thankful I'm getting the game a couple days late (shipped from GameStop, had to get me some Collector's Edition), so there will be time for people to put romance guides up. I just don't want to mess up.

@ dewayne31: No confirmation either way, unfortunately. It's just wishful thinking here.

I'm looking forward to the aftermath of ME3's release when everyone starts comaplaining about the gay romances.

I do fully expect the anti-S/S regulars to show up, I'll be disappointed otherwise. Someone will go on about political correctness like a broken record. Someone will make sarcastic remarks about how gays are immature and stupid like a prejudiced dick. All of them will probably be patting themselves on the back too. There will be trolling obviously.

And I'll be laughing.

I wish people would get rid of the Notion that Gays and bisexuals don't believe in god....

Yeah, that irks me too. There are people of all known faiths (and even some that are theirs and theirs alone) that are every sexual orientation out there.

yup, it just irks me because I see it in my own thread (Ashley ME3 thread) she believes in a god so she can't be gay, but she can engage in premarital sex with MShep and that's ok. No sense was made on that day.Image IPB

The bisexual=atheist thing is up there with bisexuals being incapable of the same level of love as a "purely" heterosexual or homosexual character.

Like monogamy is dependent on how many people you are capable of being attracted to...

tsk tsk sk. and yet so many straight people have extra marital affairs, cheat on their boy/girlfriends, and can't commit because they wanna have sex with every opposite gendered person that moves. but bisexuals are greedy....

@ AD Legend. just lol. You know, when you talk about what other say, you should be honest and not trying to lie just because you can't accept different opinions. Nobody said gay people couldn't believe in god in ahsley'sthread, that's only in your head. Most of them are straight ( their religion encourages a man + a woman and that's why in our modern society it is more difficult for religous countries and religious people to accept that ) , gay people are only a minority. That is the only thing that what said. re-read what was said instead of saying nonsense.

And given that ashley is the only guy in Mass effect who admits she believes in god, people just said they didn't believe that bioware would turn ashley in BI. They didn't say, ooooh a gay can't believe in god and they didn't even give their opinion on the matter.

You are ridiculous.

You guys must stop playing victims andbeing paranoïd, that becomes ridiculous.

And about yur comparison with premarital sex and religious today, nonsense. I just loled. If you don't know anything about that in our modern society today, you should shu...

That is the only thing I wanted to say.

I did the Sky romance with Monk Zheng once.

It's pretty awkward, but for anybody who played either Mass Effect, you feel right at home. You basically have to shut down both lady admirers before a certain point, and then Sky turns gay, on the spot.

And then the romance is basically over. It's always "let me think" or "let's talk later" or "I need some time." And I'm like, BP. Monk Zheng has needs.

When you come back at the end, you can say you came back for Sky, and it's probably one of the most cringe-worthy moments in gaming history. I'll still fall out of my chair laughing if I think about it too much (all the romances are redonkulous, but this one especially because of the lack of any sort of romantic development).

But Jade Empire is full of "almost, but not quite". It's like brilliant but crazy.

I don't think they've even revealed all the characters yet? So there's time to learn about the romances.

For some people who expect or want certain options, there's no real reason for withholding the information about the requirements. Officially, these should come with character dumps that happen whenever in the marketing cycle (although, I wouldn't be surprised to see them drop on Valentine's, as I believe the DA2 romances did last year), but I'm not seeing the great need for secrecy.

It's not going to matter soon, though. So whatever. They can keep quiet if they want. :-)

Edit: I just realised, if some people are getting the demo on Feb 10 (which is almost over, in my timezone) we could have some more coherent .tlk files.

Interesting.

I'm hoping that once the game is released, the s/s romances are written well enough to make people forget that they're same-sex.

Eh, I don't think it makes much difference. I'd almost rather spend the entire game wooing Kaidan in blissful ignorance, like I did with Alistair on my 1st playthrough. My Warden was convinced it was going somewhere, but alas...

That would be nice.

There is no chance of it actually happening whatsoever, of course. They could be created by a writing team consisting of Neil Gaiman, Cormac McCarthy, Thomas Pyncon & Gabriel García Márquez and you would still have the same old complaints. But it is a nice thought.
