You keep mentioning that, but it's been said by those who have read the leaks that you don't have to let Cortez on to say that you're gay. Flirting with Cortez is separate from that line.
Others have said it's only in the romance conversation with Cortez and I'm not sure I even wanna talk to him that much. I don't know which one of you is actually right because I don't have the leaked .tlk files.
I would preferably also have the game acknowledge this expression, even if the only result is that Liara, Tali and the other female crew members/squadmates finally stop hitting on me (random female npc can be excused because they couldn't logically know, if they just stopped trying to get all touchy feely I'd be happy) .
Bioware can do this, like others have said, the Li's in Dragon Age were never this pushy if you didn't actively do something to indicate you were interested in them.

Okay, here it is, highlight:
*But I know you've got a lady waiting for you.
*But as far as I know, you've never been involved with anyone.
*I hear a few ladies have shown interest, but you haven't bitten yet...?
-Shepard: [Waiting for the right man.] I haven't had the right moment with the right man yet.
Steve: Don't wait too long, my friend.

They're incorrect.Others have said it's only in the romance conversation with Cortez
It's during a trip to a Citadel strip club with Steve and Vega. Vega coming along doesn't make the same amount of sense if it's just an amorous date between Steve and Shepard.
Moreover, there's clear options during this that establishes the relationship between Steve & Shepard to be friendly (platonic), professional (platonic), or romance. If you're resolute not to be friends with Cortez, you don't have to be - even to say that your Shepard is gay.

I don't think he would have been as burned by it if he didn't have to get propositioned by every woman this side of the galactic core. Fighting off every single lady in the galaxy, and not once ever having anybody you actually could be with ever express one iota of interest?Ryzaki wrote...
Poor baby. And he didn't even get laid either.
No wonder he stayed behind to save Joker. He secretly knew he was going to get blown up.

Psh. Vega please. And yeah gay Shep will be able to be happy with a nice guy.
When I looked at my save files, I thought a little bit about what possibility there was to take gay Shepard to ME3. I just don't think he could hook up with anybody else, especially with Kaidan back in the squad. He was crushing on Kaidan from the start, and I don't think that's ever really been resolved. Unless Kaidan starts hitting up the ladies right in front of him, I think he probably would tend to cling to the possibility that there could be something there.
In the real world, of course, when confronted with somebody who could never feel for you what you'd want them to, you're advised to move on to somebody who actually does show an interest. But Shepard doesn't know that many people. :-)
So yeah, either his adventures ended with ME2, or he may just get used as a replacement save for chaste Shepard (the events played exactly the same, although the motivations differed). But there is still some small hope that he may yet get the ending he deserves. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Ah poor Steve. XD
Eh I always had the backup of my Shep being a sexless suicidal widower. Just not enough to actually kill himself. Enough to try to take on suicidal odds though.
LOL poor Shep. Only gay in space until ME3.
Hopefully your Shep will get his Kaidan. And mine will get his Vega.

It's at least something that you can choose to strictly professional, but on what is, ostensibly a military vessel I'd be surprised if you couldn't be professional about it.
Yes but what are the conditions for actually triggering that trip to the strip club with both Cortez and Vega, is it something that always happens as part of a mission like Chora's den in ME1? or is it something you really have to work towards either through completing quests in a certain way or picking the right dialogue choices?
And does that choice have any other effects in game, does it finally stop the female squadmates and crewmembers from hitting on you all the time or is it more likely that while you're saying those exact words some random Asari is treating ManShep to an unrequested lap dance?

Unless Steve or Vega is going around telling everyone that Shepard's gay (lol), I don't think it's realistic to expect every female NPC to stop flirting with male Shepard.

I didn't say I expected every woman to stop being interested in Shep, just the squad and crew members, ship scuttlebut and all that. But it would be nice if every woman who might be interested didn't try to get all touchy feely if ManShep so much as talks to them.

The more I think about it, the more I'm starting to believe that the demo took an extra month to come out because of the leaks in the leaked beta. That's why the original leaked beta was twice the size (and with lots of banter, gun customization, etc). They probably took longer to create a 'harmless' new demo with just a few lines of dialogue. I mean, the second part of the demo is just sort of odd because it basically cuts Wrex off when he's talking and makes you jump straight to the action. If there are no tlk files, then I'll assume I'm right XD
No, Xbox demos have a file size limit of 2gb. The ME3 demo was pushing it at ~1.7gb.
They had to cut out most of Sur'Kesh *and* cut down on a lot of the dialogue options.

As far as I know the prerequisites are simply talking to Cortez and agreeing/inviting (I'm guessing it's agree instead of invite) them to the Citadel. Seeing as how Shepard can also say that he's just waiting for the right woman etc, it's not a gay exclusive thing that you need to work for.
Okay fair enough but can anyone tell if the line about waiting for the right man is in fact available to ManShep, or is it like Liara with in ME1, an option that only FemShep gets.
Unless of course this entire club section, event is exclusive to ManShep only.

Thanks for the link, but it seems to me that if you choose the polite but professional option (just keep up the good work or something like that) in a prior conversation you'll never get the strip club scene, seems you do have to be friends with him and resolve his character problem for this to happen , which does make sense but is likely something my ManSheps aren't interested in doing. Which means it's also likely to occur about two thirds through the game, which means that even if the squad and crew were to recognize the significance of that statement, they'd have made their ninjamance attempts long before then.
Also I'm still not entirely convinced the scene is strictly reserved for MShep only, it seems that way on the blog, but I still get the feeling the blogger might have tried to arrange some things to suit their interpretation, since some things appear to be very incomplete.

Also, I've read that Vega and Kaidan's romance lines are gender neutral, leading many to believe they are both bi LIs. However, if this were the case, I honestly think they should have just kept them as straight LIs. If Vega and Kaidan don't even acknowledge that you're a man, what's the point?
In Dragon Age II, both Anders and Fenris acknowledge that they are men like Hawke if male Hawke romances them. I honestly will be disappointed if they chose to go the gender neutral route. Because it doesn't take into account your Shepard's sex.
*sigh* If the leaked script is right, it's likely that Cortez will be the only worthwile gay male LI.

It's the same man, allright (unfortunately).
They've kept the generic face but removed all traces of cuteness between then and now.

From the demo.

I wouldn't say that Vega's romance lines in the leak are gender neutral. He makes a number of comments saying that female Shepard is beautiful and sexy but nothing for male Shepard.
Kaidan's romance lines for the start of the new romance are gender neutral - but his romance scenes are written specifically with female Shepard in the script.

I never realized it was supposed to be. I'm fine with femShep going out with Cortez, as long as she can't romance our only s/s option.

The lack of ability to talk about a past male lover heavily suggests it.

Just to clarify I'd have no problems at all with femShep sharing that scene, and indeed the entire Cortez romance, with us, but in that case you just know the waiting for the right man line is going to be reserved for FemShep only, so ManShep only gets the option to totally dig Steve, say he hasn't met the right woman (or that she's dead already) or that the mission takes precedence.
Ryzaki wrote...

I did say the blog seems to suggest it, but it could also be either creative arrangement by the blogger or just that the scene wasn't complete yet (which is quite plausible imho, considering Steve and Sam are last minute addtions) and they've since added Femsheps options to it.
It could also mean they've decided for us that GayShep is a virgin as well now, that just plain sucks.

No, i don't, I only have the info from the blogs and the various tidbits I've picked up on these forums.
