I don't remember anything in the script showing that the scene is for male Shepard only.

Or that you need to be friendly to say that you're interested in men.
Finis, you don't have the leaked script so your guesses are only guesses.

The lack of ability to talk about a past male lover heavily suggests it.

There's no reason for female Shepard to talk about a past male lover there.

Like there's no reason for male Shep to talk about a past female lover?

Or am I mixing scenes up?

From what I'm reading Cortez talks about females hitting on Shep (there's no male counterpart to this) and Shep goes on to talk about who he's interested in (or not interested in) there's a bit of a flirt and then the conversation moves on to them drinking or dancing depending on friendship or romance.

Goes like this:
(paraphrasing)
1. Cortez: As far as I know, there have been ladies lining up for you, but you haven't bitten yet.
2. Shepard: I loved a woman once, but now she's dead.

Yeah and the lack of a female counterpart for that (or indeed any female references at all) suggests that either only dude Shep's in that scene or that he's m/m exclusive (or both).

Plus he has another friendship scene on the top of the Citadel I believe. That one has no flirtation at all. That might be reserved for femShep friendship.

The script's incomplete, though.

True enough which is why I hope they left out all of Vega's m/m references (especially since his romance was the least developed in the script). ^_^

But going from what's there femShep's either not being flirted with or not there period.

*Shrug* Hard to believe that they'd throw out an entire club scene for female Shepard when Shepard doesn't even need to be gay or interested in Cortez. As for no female counterpart, female Shepard has no reason to talk about past dead loves because Cortez would have no interest in what her preferences are.

The inability to talk about a past male lover could also mean they've decided for us that GayShep is a virgin as well now, that just plain sucks.

And it seems like we do have to flirt with him to even be able to claim we're gay, which is precisely what I do not want.

There was an or C.

Eh I could see the devs having different scenes for male and female Shepard (or rather for a male Shepard that doesn't reject Cortez early on vs one that rejects him later).

You do not need to flirt first. After you tell him you're interested in men, he asks you to dance. You can say no, but even if you say yes you can still refer to him as a friend. If that's not acceptable to you, Finis, I'm really not sure what would be.

Or when the strategy guide leaks.  Whichever happens first.

From what I've read on the blog you do need to flirt with him first, since Shepard has to refer to himself as eyecandy first to trigger that particular conversation branch. Unless I was trying to draw a very specific kind of interest I certainly wouldn't try to refer to myself as "eye candy" to another man (or woman for that matter).

I know the script isn't complete but from what I've seen on the blog Shep just gets two options at the start of that conversation, say Asari are eye candy or say he's the eye candy.  All the other options, including the "waiting for the right man line" seem to follow only after he's called himself eye candy.

That's hardly an invitation to your cabin, though. Sounds more like banter between two gay guys in a straight strip club to me.

I'm not quite sure I fully agree with that, but anyway it sounds less than professional and much further then I'd ever want to go with Steve,

All in all it seems you still have to jump through a lot of hoops to even be able to express a same sex attraction because the blog also seems to imply this scene only triggers in the first place after you hel Steve resolve his character problem in the first place.

Yeah, but... I guess I just don't understand why you hate a character you know virtually nothing about based on the fact that you don't like the way he looks? To be honest, you don't want to talk to him for god knows what reason, then don't talk to him. It's not Bioware's responsibility to consider that people with an irrational hatred for a character don't get to express same sex attraction without talking to that character. Get over it.

That's actually a good point.  If that scene and option triggers s/s romances, then wouldn't that be odd for any potential Kaidan or Vega romances?  Especially if Bioware is going out of its way to avoid Ninjamancing?

No one is hating on Steve or even the way he looks. And we know A LOT about Steve.

Most of us just preferred his old look. Is that a problem?

What I don't understand is why Bioware doesn't seem to take into account the bi people. Why couldn't Shepard be bi? I've been reading that if you pursue one romance, the others close off. Why is that? Maybe you want to do a bi threesome? Or maybe you want to get to know better both a female and a male before choosing who to complete the romance with?

Also in the club, why does Shepard saying that he likes guy makes him gay? Why couldn't he be bi?

I think people need to stop thinking in terms of black and white sexualities and be more open.

We have to take what we can get. Let's just be grateful the ME devs went this far for us.
