I think if one VS ends up being bi,so will the other. Kaidan seems more likely because players wanting to play m/m romances have hoped for him being an option since the first game ( plus people who aren't interested in him have probably killed him off so BW doesn't need to worry about backlash on that front. There's also the fact that,in the demo atleast, you can choose who died,to me this doesn't make a lot of sense to have now unless it's romance related). Making Kaidan bi will give them justification to make Ash bi as well,and since everybody loves lesbians <_<. And it would cover the squadmate romance.
I also agree that Vega looks unlikely as a m/m option,I'm not too sad about this though as this means we get a 'manly' male character being friends with an openly gay character. A gay-friendly character without being gay may set an example for the players who are so afraid of catching the gay via video game.

I think it's a legitimate thing to talk about; if we're wondering about options (or the lack of options) it's probably good to question why they're here now, why they weren't there before, and how to make sure they're more likely in future projects.

But one thing though - this is the fourth or fifth time I've said it, but Bioware's staff are (generally) some of the most liberal people *evar*. Producers, managers, writers, exeutives - they all regularly blog and tweet about causes like feminism or lgbt rights. Not just in the Dragon Age team, but also among many of ME's staff.  

So as much as we get frustrated with the ridiculous answers to questions (Shepard is a pre-defined character with a pre-defined view!), I'd suggest it's more likely to be other pressures (the publisher, time constraints, a scared executive team, retailers) and not the fault of the writers or designers that there's been an absence of s/s. 

More likely it was a business decision (the target market would run screaming from the room if an m/m romance was in the game) and not a deliberate slight.

I'm agree with you, Pine. After all shooter games totally outside of general Bioware works, even ME franchise considered RPG by most of us, most see it as FPS with RPG elements.

Anyway after all is said and done, I think only two options left for me;
1- Digging the Steve
2- Completing ME without any romance and turning heteroShep into asexual Shepard.

You're not the only one, there was something odd about the characters in the demo, not just appearance but movement too. Moreover, lip-synching was off when I played it and Shepards eyes nearly pulled an all-whiter when he looked sideways at Anderson. 

Also Cortez...ugh. Actually Kaidan didn't look all that good either when I first saw him. Only played the demo once though, will give it another shot. Shame I couldn't talk to Kaidan more though.

It's been years since I've played ME1, and I have a poor memory, but I do recall a banter line from Kaidan, also on Noveria (that's the winter planet where you'll need the Mako later, right? it's while in the large atrium/lobby area). Something to the effect of "The decor in here is [something, something], yet understated. I like it." I mean, really? How many staight guys are going to comment on the decor, let alone use the word 'decor'? That line always stuck with me because, even though technically ambiguous, just screamed gay to me.

But then again, ME1 was peppered with lines from Kaidan that were ambiguous... or it was wishful thinking on my part. I just wish I could remember more of them. Kaidan, I love you... but why do ya gotta be such a **** tease!

The start of the new romance with Kaidan is gender neutral. However, the romance scenes are written specifically with female Shepard.

There's absolutely nothing indicating any sort of shot with Vega. Vega's clearly an appreciator of women, and flirts with female Shepard, but there's nothing there for males or male Shepard.

Thus, I don't think there's anything in the leak besides Cortez. Either they've changed things since the leak, or Cortez is the only M/M option.

Yes, Kelly is back if she survived Your Mass Effect 2 Playthrough. She is a full romance option.

Great. My two canon Sheps will have love in ME 3. Hmm should I start another female Shepard for Samantha or my other f!Shep should cheat Kaidan and Garrus with Samantha. Some decisions so hard to make.

I also like Kelly and happy to have her and EDI back on ME3.

Well I suppose as I've promoted before, if we are only stuck with crumbs (i.e. only Steve) we make crumb cake. He can't be worse than Zevran in the end or Anders for that matter. Still, I'll keep hope alive.
