Thank you for the clarification. Unfortunately in my experience marketing typically does what they 'think is best' even if it may not be the exact impression the company intended to make. While I personally love the focus on Vega and his enormous gun, I think they were hoping to attract more attention from mainstream shooter fans and not individuals likeminded to myself. Moving on I suppose the real question is, would Freddie Prince Jr be willing to do a sex scene with another dude, and if so did he sign a nondisclosure agreement that prevents him from confirming any Shega action.

Did you know Freddie Prince Jr. is a writer of scripts... for the World Wrestling Entertainment?

I know FP2 has publicly supported gay rights in the past so I hope that IF Vega is "straight" that it was not HIS decision.

No I did not know FP II was either a writer or supporter of gay rights. Now that I do though, I can't help but admit if I was a suspicious person I would think that one reason you would target a vocal gay rights supporter is because they would be more amenable to the idea of same sex scenes. Of course, I am not a suspicious person though.

Or they could use him as a Get Out of Jail Free card. "He's not an M/M romance, but we're totally cool because we hired a very pro-gay voice actor!"

True but wouldn't that be a bit redundant as they already went ahead and created Steve and Samantha?

I anticipate fans clamoring around said balloons, fighting one another for the game. It will be a massacre. Delicious.

Doubly so when replaying ad nauseum on youtube :o

Wait. Was not there more than one o/s LI for each gender in ME games?

He's saying about the cheap excuse.

You don't need a cheap excuse when you have the gays right there in the game already.

Yeah, but I have not played 3, and the evidence we have may be reasonably strong circumstantial evidence (SA comments) but it is not yet strong enough to be called fact. Which for me is both promising and frustrating as Vega is still not confirmed, nor truly is anyone but Steve.

I've said this many a time so you've read it:

Bioware will NOT market Vega in anyway that would deter a profit. From a marketing perspective, Vega MUST work. He's taking the place of characters that long-time fans want on the squad and he also has to appeal to their main focus which is heterosexual males who like to blow things up. If at any point that isn't triggered by the player themselves he shows feminity or such, he will be labeled "the gay one" - regardless of anything else. Bioware knows this. We will not see anything regarding Vega's potential homosexuality (or bi sexuality) until after release where players have figured it out for themselves.

@MAC1 its likely you are correct. However as I recall GTA Gay Tony did not do too badly for Rockstar. Additionally, SR 4 had very strong gay undertones, and that didn't seem to hurt sales.

Considering BW didn't make Shepard himself gay/bisexual until now I'm pretty sure if Vega's bi it'll probably be a Sky like thing where you have to jump through several hoops to get it and the average player doesn't even realize its there.

I'd even be glad with that kind of option. but I really doubt it will be the case. so only two m/m options..

But why would they bother to take the risk of making Vega m/m, if his appeal to dudebros (for lack of a better encompassing term) was such an important selling point for the game? As soon as any hypothetical Vega/Shepard romance leaked, all the usual suspects would attack him anyway and refuse to deal with the character. You saw how they reacted to Anders and Fenris. Even before we knew much about him, people were writing him off as "the gay character".

It'd be far easier for Bioware if Vega was just all he appears to be - a  smartcracking Alliance soldier who compliments female members of the squad, likes blowing things up and has an interesting mentor relationship with Shepard.

Nothing in his dialogue suggests m/m, and there are some lines that suggest he's only available for femShep, if at all - I just can't see why concealing his m/m status would be seen as a valid decision. Look at Vega's marketing, his appearance in Conviction and his role that devs have talked about - he's the drawcard for military shooter fans.

I was terribly wrong about you.  and I apologizefor misjudging you. just wanted to say that.

Thanks, I guess. But I'm willing to bet the only reason you think higher of me now is because we agree on this one issue. I can bet that will change once we disagree because you are still guilty of acting like different people are inferior or undeserving because they have different opinions. That hasn't changed. I'm not attacking you and I'm not holding a grudge against you, I just don't need your approval, or anyone's for that matter. No one does. And if that was never your viewpoint, then I'm sorry but it's the way you come across to me. And it's something I'm against.

Ugh Solid, when someone admits to a mistake and gives a sincere apology to you, you accept it. What you don't do is act like a judgemental, cynical, high and mighty know-it-all. She said she was sorry, and what she gets for that is you claiming to know her motivation, stating it falls short, finding it necessary to rub it in that she's guilty and to top it off, saying she's just going to continue acting the same way. Sounds like you *are* attacking her, pal. And if you want to have a go at me now for butting in, go ahead.

Obviously, what I mentioned had nothing to do with today's discussion. I'm not acting high and mighty, in fact that's precisely the attitude I'm sick of and it's an attitude that I could pick up from the way she addressed me and others that shared my viewpoint in the past. I'm just sick of it, because I've been through this IRL more than once. Someone puts themselves above me for no reason, then one day I do something they consider acceptable and I'm suddenly "pretty cool" in their eyes. But they still feel high and mighty. I'm just suddenly reaching their glorious entitled level, when in truth, they shouldn't have judged me or put themselves above me in the first place. See, it's not about me, it's about that superior attitude, towards anyone.
Like I said, that's how it comes across, that's how I interpreted it. If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong. She didn't say I was, though.
I guess now I'm attacking you too, huh?

You know what, screw this. I come across as an **** no matter what I say in here.

@Ryz...I don't care what hoops we have to jump through, if Vega is the treat at the end consider it done. Even if that means something as nonsensical as harvesting 500000 platinum.

*hugs for Solid* You're not a ****. Not to me at least.

@Alex: Same.

@Liara: One of those m/m options can be dead at the start of ME3 though and indeed (for default ME2 Shep players) will be. I'm *hoping* they'd give more than 1 choice to those players. Especially since those players had no choice in the matter. [other than using DLC]

If Vega needs that much of a dowry, I wonder how much Kaidan will require, probably every last bit of eezo you can possibly find in the game.

hm, I don't think there's a secret fling...and who else could it be?...only garrus, but he and tali are certainly straight. At least I think so...there are already so many f/f love interests..but without tali, there isn't garrus available either. so I think, we'll only get cortez and kaidan if he's survived.

Eh I'm not getting into how ridculous I feel Garrus and Tali romances are but seriously FemShep gets 3 LIs and 2 of them are guaranteed to be alive. Dude Shep gets 2 LIs and only 1 of them is guaranteed to be alive. I don't know. I'd just want another guaranteed to be alive male LI for dude Shep.

I'm being finicky though.
