But did we actually get anything else out of him other than "Can romance Ashley and Kaidan"?
Don't tell me to look, though, I don't want story spoilers.

Yes. Yes we did. A lot more.

The DLC character is [spoiler squadmate p].

It does fit with the 'From Dust' name.

I mean, there may be more DLC characters - but not at launch.

From what I've read, spoiler squadmate P seems criticial to the main storyline....:?

He's not. In the old script he was but in the revision not at all.

Also Traynor's shower scene. Stay classy BioWare. :pinched:

Taking him from first gay male LI to being the first overt pansexual gay male LI.

About the VS? That is my question.

About pretty much everything.

He posted FemShep's face in the CC before her trailer came out.  (the most unspoilerly thing I can think of).

Yeah but I doubt he pays equal attention to everything. Could have just gotten some odd sounding dialogue and assumed he was. I think I read some pages ago that someone actually thought they were in a relationship with him in ME1 but then got surprised at not getting the paramour achievement at the end.

Seriously? The lack of romance dialogue didn't tip them off?

Well hopefully he screwed up recognizing Vega's romance then. Please let that be so. =]

Words cannot express how bummed out I am about Vega (most likely) not being an LI, S/S or otherwise. That just... bites. :crying:

EDIT:

"Or, like Elite says, there's another male LI we don't know about."

Kai Leng? :o

Nah, I don't even want to hope atm. :( Still too disappointed.

No, I know that, but my previous post still applies - maybe he's not interested and only skimmed through that part? I'm asking if we got any details about this other than a passing mention of the VS being romanceable by both genders.

Yeah, I thought that too - but SA forum guy (hereafter: SAFG) suggested that, whle his mission helped, it wasn't critical or necessary.

I guess it's a bit like Sebastian - having [spoiler squadmate] helps explain things and give much more information, but it doesn't actually affect the story in any huge way.

The parts of the storyline that involved chasing down or recovering [spoiler squadmate] seem to be from an old build - the Kai Leng appearance there has been changed to somewhere else, ditto for what the VS does.

If I had to guess, spoiler squadmate was originally planned to be part of the main quest, but they rewrote the role to shoe him in as DLC.

It means you can do the main plotline without him. His expertise isn't needed to do.. the thing... with the other thing...

That too.

@Chun: LOL

@Solid: Eh I'm pretty sure if the VS had been calling him by the wrong gendered name or something he would've mentioned it. It takes a special kind of dense to not realize you're romancing someone (not being ninja'd but completing a romance.)

Mmm. Sounds dirty. ;)

And this guy - I don't particuliarly trust him. Why is spilling these secrets? Who is he? Where did he get them? Did he really pursue every option in the game?

Look, this is entirely possible.

But to get that wrong in a casual throwaway line after getting pages upon pages of other stuff right (about multiplayer, about the role of characters in the script, about names of characters we only knew about two days ago) doesn't seem at all likely.

It wasn't even "I think they were bi" or "It seems they're available" or "A quick playthrough had the lines there"

To paraphrase: SAFG responded to a question about other s/s romances (apart from Sam/Steve/Diana) with the VS.

Then he posted the crazy picture of Allers from early in development with her arm half sticking through her body.

Maybe he didn't follow through with it? Maybe Kaidan said something that sounded like romance dialogue to him, but really wasn't and he assumed the rest? That's what I've been trying to say. It's a bit too soon to jump on the "Kaidan is definitely bi" train.

I should've known the second I got attached to Vega he wouldn't be available. Damn my luck. :(

Yeah but if it's the other way - Ashley bi and Kaidan straight, then that wouldn't fix the LesShep - straight FemShep imbalance like straight Ashley would (or straight Diana)

do they even care about balance anymore?  and Ash/Kaidan being mirrors of each other in terms of "alliance soldier that served with Shepard, helped them defeat Saren and sovereign, survived virmire, bonded, had a setback on Horion, now has trust issues, and is a trilogy spanning romance", as well as the whole "lesbians are hot" thing suggests that if one is bi, so will be the other.

I'm really starting to regret going on this thread tonight :( Learning too much about a game before release always leads to disappointment.

...Uh...that was supposed to be about his Keperal's Syndrome. He's dying from that regardless.

Highlight below for spoilers

though yes Thane always dies in ME3. Sucks honestly

I don't really know - I only looked at the thread for about an hour then.

But it looks like SAFG has been posting stuff in that thread since at least January, with an old build of the game.

They mentioned they played through it at least once, and saw all the romance scenes (they said they weren't comfortable being in a room with anybody else, since the scenes were so awkward).

Oh, and Shepard's dancing with Cortez is apparently awful.

SAFG's overall impression was that ME3 was a great game, even though they thought people would whine about certain parts of the script, and some of the romances (Tali's especially).

Romances have always been unbalanced in favor of lesbian player but usually only by a single character - Juhani, Liara and Kelly - two if you can really count Samara (which I don't). But this time...

LesbianShep has her pick of Ashley, Traynor, Liara, Allers and then the option of cementing the relationship with Kelly. At lowest, FemShep has three interests while straightFemShep has...none? NO SENSE. Disregarding GayManShep for a second here...this in of itself would turn heads.

Urhm that's the context I was debating it (Straight FemShep & Lesbian FemShep balance context), not whether I like Ash/Kaidan being similar or not
