No official/final confirmation yet. But the chance is very high he is.

Can you please tell me how some endings are tied to the LIs (or link me?). I haven't read anything about that, and I'm really interested. You can pm me if you don't want to say anything in this thread.

I am interested in this too. Is it at least possible to get some kind of happy ever after with your LI? Does it depend on who your LI is (I've currently got one femshep loyal to Liara and one who didn't romance anyone yet who I'm saving for Ashley *fingers crossed*)? PM or link would be awesome.

We don't actually know yet. I'm tentatively going to say yes.

Not sure if this is the right place, but I accidentally started a Liara romance with my femshep in my last ME1 playthrough. I didn't care at the time, but playing through ME2 again, I made a conscious effort not to pursue the romance any further, yet there were still hints and dialogue options about it. I'm just wondering if the romance is considered dead due to me not acknowledging it. I hope so because I consider my canon Shep to not be in a relationship. I really don't want the romance extended into ME3.

You can end things in ME3 without too much fuss.

Well Isaac and other Alenko fans though I continue to denounce any and all anti (m)Shenko lies for what they are, I will say if the allegedly positive Alenko evidence points to an organic and superior romance script I suppose I wouldn't be very disappointed. So long as the elephant in the room regarding Horizon is addressed very well.

If they were going to make Ash a romance option for FemShep, they would have done so in the first game. It wouldn't really make sense to change that for ME3.

What are they changing?  Ash never stated her orientation nor did she reject FemShep.  There are plenty of valid story reasons for why FemShep only comes to fruition in ME3

Pretty sure you can break up with her in LotSB.
Otherwise it will carry over to ME3.

She didn't reject FemShep because there was no romance dialogue tree. That alone suggests BioWare wants Ash to be a straight character.

Well it's funny you say that because they actually DID. They took it out at the last second though.
There is even video of the f/f dialogue...

Hey! Yeah. Same with Kaidan. Even though he's likely a same-sex romance anyway.

Which only strengthens my arguement. They want Ash to be straight.

No it means they they shipped a straight only Ashley romance option in in ME1.  Be careful not to confuse facts with opinion.

We will find out in 2 weeks what they choose to ship in ME3.  Why does it matter to you so much if those of us who want to romance FemShep with Ashley get our wish in Me3?

A forum user with an early build (even a testing build, it looks like) of the game all but confirmed it.They'd watched all of the romance scenes and responded to a question about the s/s romances by stating Ashley and Kaidan (as well as Sam and Steve) were available to both genders of Shepard.

They've been posting relatively non-spoilery but information-heavy posts about ME3 on a certain internet forum. I was very skeptical at first, but reading the rest of what they posted leaves me with pretty much no doubts.

The Ashley and Kaidan romance dialogue is gender neutral in any case, and has a strong theme of "I liked you from three years ago, let's get together naow"

(I think Ashley's is particularly well-written, actually. That line about Eden Prime is nice.)

I just do not understand people, if one does not care for *optional* s/s romances why go to all the effort of going to a thread that supports it just to lie and or make arguments against it? Ahem I'm looking at you EpicBoot.

@ EpicBoot2daFace -- Tali and Garrus weren't options in ME1, but were in ME2, so there is already a precedent for "late" romances. Also, BioWare defended the Tali and Garrus romances in ME2 as fan service, even though they violated established ME lore (Quarians and Turians are highly intolerant to exposure of human or Salarian DNA). And it doesn't change ANY canon for the VS to be "bi" or "pansexual" since female Shepard NEVER saw Ashley throw herself at male Shepard and male Shepard NEVER saw Kaidan stumble around female Shepard. If you don't want a s/s Ashley, either play male Shepard OR don't romance her. It appears pretty obvious from the leaked script that it is up to the player whether or not the VS expresses an interest in the same gender.

Edit: derp, I should look a few posts up.

It's only fair if we get VS.

ElitePinecone did you phrase it wrong? Because you said that Steve and Sam will be bi. I'm pretty sure I haven't read anything about that anywhere? :/

Is this the same forum that said Ash/Kaidan were bi a few days ago? If so, pics?

If not, PM link plz.

In a way, I agree, although, in the case of Steve, it can be touchy. Kaidan, in male Shepard's universe, has not established his sexuality yet. Ashley, in female Shepard's universe, has not established her sexuality yet (it is Ashley's SISTER who comments about Kaidan being cute, though female Shepard is allowed to infer that Ashley is interested in him). In the case of Steve, a gay character will be established with both gender's universes. Female Shepard will experience a gay widowed pilot who ignores the women the male characters are oogling over and flirts with Vega. I guess, in his particular case (not sure about Samantha), that would make him pansexual rather than bisexual. Kaidan would just be gay in male Shepard's game, while Steve will be litterally turned "straight" in the female Shepard's game.

EDIT: Okay, I see he's still gay. Nevermind. Don't worry, s/s critics, the Suicide Squaddies are still "straight."
