Did BioWare give Ash any dialogue that would sort of explain why she suddenly likes women, too?

I don't see the need. On the Femshep playthroughs she doesn't discuss her sexuality. There is no reason to assume she "suddenly" likes women as she could have all along. I mean, Dr Chakwas never hit on male Shepard in the first two games but that doesn't make her a lesbian.

Besides, there's an awkward moment when Ashley starts reciting poetry to Female Shepard that made me wonder about her anyway.........

It depends. I have one ME playthrough as male shep, and Kaiden died. The original plan was to then play a fem shep and save Kaiden so he could be in ME3. But since Ash is romance-able in ME3, I don't know.

Oh I agree with the "want". I guess I was just offering that you can still feel okay about it story wise if she doesn't explain it. Just because she wasn't interested in Shephard in ME1 (or didn't have the guts to act on it) doesn't mean she doesn't like women.

Anyway, as I understand it (someone correct me if I'm wrong), Ashley was suppsed to be a LI for femshep in ME1 but the story was pulled from the game after a hysterical report about risque video games on Fox News. I'm pretty sure I've seen the love scene between Ash and Femshep complete with full dialogue.

Based on the data extracted from the demo files, I'd say a definite "No".... the files for their ME3 romances requires modifier files from the ME2 romance data, meaning that the ME3 romances for Tali and Garrus's can only be continued if you had romanced them previously in ME2.
