Because there's dialogue for Kaidan and because gay guys didn't have LIs in ME1 and ME2 while girls had Liara and Kelly so naturally we're even more excited ;Pwolf99000 wrote...

Because us gal don't want to rub in the fact that, to one degree or another, we get five choices! Liara, Ashley, Samantha, Kelly and Diana! It would just be rude! Also lots of us are happy for the guys, they at least get a couple of choices now.

If only Steve had his own face. Or at least a unique face.
Or if they'd just kept the one from the leak, at least that one was cute, generic, but cute.
Ah, well maybe someone will figure out how to do NPC face transplants in ME3 and then maybe we can customize Steve to get rid of that beard at least.

Vega "Samara-like" flirting
I hope you still get to do this (like with Samara Morinth) even if you are romancing someone else.
Normally Vega's type would be a bit too buff for me but in this case I am kind of sorry he isn't available to Shep (of either gender). On the other hand now that we are almost certain to get Kaidan, I don't really care about anyone else, though I guess gay players will have to wait for the next spinoff to get an alien option.
IsaacShep wrote...
EDIT: Reading the dialogue again. Am I
the only one totally loving all the completly-direct references to Shep
and Kaidan's male gender? This is just too perfect, I honetly kind of
expected them to avoid it like a plauge even this s/s romance happened
This almost seems to good to be true, I hope there aren't any bizarre conditions or requirements you have to meet in order to start Kaidan's new romance as ManShep (such as not triggering the Liara, Ashley and Tali ninjamance flags from the previous games)
lietk12 wrote...
Would it have been in-character for
bioware to have explained it as "Shepard never seemed to show any
interest in Kaidan, so Kaidan never took the first step"?
Well,
I for one am glad Bioware didn't try to predifine Shep on this because
my Shep certainly did or at least clumsily tried to and much like
Kaidan failed to get the point across, so if Bioware had straight out
said Shep never showed any such interest in Kaidan before at all I'd
have been mildly annoyed.
Now with all this good news let's hope
that ManShep finally doesn't automatically flirt with every other
Asari, without player input, anymore.
Ryzaki wrote...
They lost t any potential of even being
remotely real when no one reacted much differently to renedouche
actions vs paragon Sheps ones. And when they did it didn't spill over
into the romance.
Indeed until they rectify this in an upcoming game the romances are and have always been fun ways to customize our characters. On that note, I hope they've also made Kaidan remember that my FemShep turned him renegade then again if I finally get ot romance him with one of my Paragon ManSheps I don't really care but it would be nice if the writers remembered this detail.

Well I was hoping and waiting for Ashley since my first Shepard to import to ME3 has been waiting for her but any little celebration I could muster would be be like a speck of rain dropped into the ocean. It is okay though because I am content to be happy for those waiting for Kaiden.wolf99000 wrote...

You could always just start a NEW game in ME3. It's not like the s/s Kaidan romance would be much different. Cortez may still knock your current Shepard's socks off. Among other items of clothing.

Well I'm more irritated by previously straight love interest (Ashley)
now being a bisexual character. Kaiden is dead in all of my playthroughs
so I don't care as much. I think Bioware going out of their way to
make them both bi all of a sudden along with the addition tonew bi and
s/s exclusive options is an example of grossly excesive pandering and
fan service.

Because the person linking dialogue and such is a gay man who self-admittedly has little interest in lady romances.
Can't fault him for it though, after all he doesn't have to give us ANYTHING. Right now I'm just happy for confirmation (though I would give out many MANY internet cookies for some Ash/Femshep dialogue...
EDIT: aaah! Sorry I missed the "against" in your OP. Thought you were wondering why all the happy flailing was about Kaiden and not Ash.

I love how their romances aren't fanservice until they're made bisexual.
It's cute how people try to pretend the romances weren't fanservice to begin with.

As was discussed earlier, you pretty much have to OVERTLY "activate" the s/s LI with the VS, there is no "ninjamance," so she will stay "straight" in your game unless you hit on her. Getting mad that SOMEONE ELSE may be happily s/s romancing her seems petty.

Why would the devs be nasty about it considering they're part of EA's "hurr durr let's send a whole bunch of ME3 copies floating for anyone to grab a good week before release date. Obviously no information about the game will come out because of that!"

It he actually does work at BioWare, a simple e-mail to Human Resources will change that.

Liara was a s/s romance option from the start. It wasn't pandering or fan service. It's just a part of who the character was but taking previously straight characters and making them bi to satisfy certain people on these boards who wanted them to be is definitely the bad kind of pandering and fan service that I wish Bioware would stop.

Mmmm, yes; I freely admit to not getting this. I always play FemShep, and have only ever romanced Kaidan, so I'm quite a fan of his, but I do realise that he did not survive in the majority of playthroughs. Kinda makes me wonder where all the protests are coming from!wolf99000 wrote...

Yeah that...that doesn't sound right.
You didn't really do anything to earn a threatening reaction and hell someone else posted spoilers and the devs asked them nicely to take it down. I don't know why they'd get nasty all of a sudden.
