This. I like Gaider a lot. I never got the impression that he was "rude" to people that didn't deserve it.

Gaider is cool because he engages, spends time on the fan outside of work (the whole writing contest, going above and beyond) and yes stands up on issues where others don't dare.  And I say this as someone who has disagreed with him on a few issues and have had threads locked by him.

While that line was in response to the whole DA2 all bi li media ****storm it's the single most awesome line I've seen any Biowarian post and it applies to just about every controversial issue on the forums!

Exactly. It felt awesome to have him defend the inclusion of s/s romances. That whole statement was amazing. I really do respect him for doing that.

Yeah but the something awful guy didn't seem to be all that interested in checking out the men, so to speak.
And Steve proves that Bioware considers m/m an afterthough amongst afterthoughts, the only reason they did it might be because of the public outcry, not just on these forums, if they'd included all these hot lipstick lesbians without even acknowledging gay guys exist. So on that bombshell it might be very possible that Ashley is a real romance for FemShep while Kaidan might just turn out to either reject ManShep outright or at best become a Samara like psuedomance since they've already so generously thrown us mister generic after all.

Could be but on the other hand there's nothing like stirring up controversy and ruffling some feathers to get some free publicity and with the whole "your mom's going to hate this game campaign" EA has definiely proven it's not above doing this sort of thing in the most tacky fashion if they think it convenient.

Actually scratch that, seeing ME3 feature in the US political debates would be so much fun.
Just imagining someone like Biden being forced to defend,Mass Effect, Bioware and EA and other "gay" videogames that "turn our kids gay" from a pack of raving conservatives (apart from the lone voice among them who will probably say the government should just stay out of the video game business altogether) would be so much fun to watch!

Honestly guys, if you really want to talk names just remember that Hudson and Walters are just sideshows the main events are all being decided by people like Silverman these days.
Gaider was pretty awesome though, but I get the distinct feeling that even if a ME dev would want to do something like that he or she would be prevented from actually doing so by company policy for this franchise.

Yeah, but on that alone we should have known it wasn't true since we know that if anything, bi Kaidan will just treat ManShep like a slightly different woman.

It was perfectly in character for Kaidan, I could imagine Sbarge reading it with his trade mark pauses and hesistation full of emotion. Maybe sounding like he had a shot of whiskey in him. Why that would suddenly be a flag in hindsight I don't know.

Off to bed now I think, Thread no more horrid surpises for me when I wake up please. Though if some fan fic writer comes along and fleshes out the rest of the fake script I wouldn't mind.

In retrospect, perhaps scapegoating wasn't the term I was really thinking of?  Since I know "politcal talk" isn't allowed on the forms, I was subtlely (and failed haha) trying to allude to the recent movement to repeal the DOMA and the House moving to forestall that measure.  I could totally see ME3 becoming the "symbol" that would lead many opponents to gay rights as they lead the charge claiming, "Look at this video game corrupting our youth, that's why repealing the DOMA is a bad idea."

But a political debate about ME3 would awesome!  I would pay to be in that audience during that discussion.

Well, IGN's started their review of the game. I've reached out to the reviewer to see if there's an NDA/embargo and what have you and if not if he'd be able to share any info as far as what he notices as far as flirting options go. I'm not sure what sex he plays but I'll let you guys know.

I'm not like on a first name basis or anything but I've talked to him a few times during his podcast so we'll see!

I don't like having to get involved like this, but I need to clear something up as there is some misinformation being spread by someone.

The information Klace posted earlier is not accurate. I will not post what is and is not accurate about his claims, but, for whatever reason he chose to, he made up some of the information he told you was in the game.

So please do not put too much validity into what he claimed he knew form playign the game. I have reason to believe he has made up everything he has claimed or has made accurate guesses.

We want ME players to expereince the romances in game for themselves, so I will not discuss what may or may not be acurate, buy please keep this in mind while you discuss what was claimed.

EDIT: the other video posted has a femshep, so maybe we can find out more?

EDIT 2: so each of the two playthrough videos was recorded by a different IGN person, and both people are different from the reviewer—I couldn't make out the name in the Mars one (mShep with Ashley and Vega), but the Exploring the Galaxy one with Femshep was done by somebody named Samuel

Sucky. I know one of the other editors in the office is openly gay though so maybe if they're both playing at the same time he'll be able to pass on that info. I'll try him too, never talked to him before though.

Nothing we've ever heard or read has said the VS s/s romance will turn out like Samara.

Everything we've heard or read has said the opposite. That they're full romance options.

I get that you're pessimistic, but be realistic. There's precisely no evidence for anything you're doom-mongering about, and a bunch of evidence for the opposite.

The problem is that many of the... ahem...  idiots who whine on the BSN are too... lacking in intelligence to understand that their arguments and questions have been countered and answered if the Bioware employee says something they don't agree with. If the employee doesn't agree immediately, the idiots resort to snarky comments, then personal attacks, then charges of oppression, and finally tries to "win" the argument by repeating the same criticisms OVER and OVER again in hopes of winning the argument through endurance.

You know, the female s/s fans have been relatively quite about their hopes about Samantha. There is a possibility that the "spoiler info" on her appearance is wrong. We know the VA, but how do you want her to look and/or be portrayed? Girly (Merrill/Liara) or tom-boyish (Aveline/Ashley)? With or without an "accent"? Blonde, ginger, brunette or bald (Jack has hair now, after all)?
