For some reason, even the modded stuff, i can't really visualize mShep, with mark meer's voice, in a gay relationship because it's not really emotional enough. He's too "boring" and mellow.

Clearly you haven't met the wonder that is Jethann (also voiced by Meer). Skip to 0:43 if you want to get right to the voice.

Yeah, but thats a completely different character! manShep is so bland. I did see the little boy part in the demo, and was blown away that finally he can be sensitive, i guess is the word. Jennifer Hale did a much better job with the romance stuff. Not to bash him, i just prefer famShep to manShep.

Space marines are suppose to have the emotional range of a paper bag DUH!

I'm joking of course.

Femshep comes off as a predator, LOL.  Then again, I didn't romance anyone with my manshep, so I have no idea what he sounds like.

Manshep was mostly very by-the-book and all-business kinda guy, not emoting much except for a few instances...Meer was AMAZING in LotSB, for example.  Since Meer has no problem with emoting with other characters he's played (the Vorcha, various NPCs in ME2, Jethann), his monotone has to be the result of some weird direction which I think will be fixed in ME3.

BioWare needs to work on their convo's period. They need to share the dialog between actors like animated movies and learn how to connect each of the conversations together. Everytime you choose a dialog choice both Shepards mostly sound like they are starting a new conversation. It nearly ruins the emotion for me, especially in the Samara scene (off the top of my head).

Why has this turned into a manShep-voice-hating thread? :(

love manShep's voice. I think Mark Meer does a wonderful job with him. No, he's not as "snarky" as femShep (who comes off as sardonic most of the time) but he is more "authoritative" than femShep when it comes to barking orders and giving speeches. They both have their strengths and weaknesses, and both of them perform extremely well during the "romantic" scenes. ManShep's "It's okay, Jack. No more questions." line at the end of the Jackmance? ManShep's interactions with that scared little kid in the E3 footage? I melted. I love it when his overall "tough" voice softens and we hear his gentle side. I absolutely cannot wait to hear him read same-sex content. It's going to be wonderful.

I hardly ever notice mansheps voice... Apparently I kinda say the lines with my voice (hopefully inside my head). Otherwise I'll have to be kinda glad I'm living by myself now. *lol*

I'll try and refrain, keep my words civil so that the modding community doesn't eat me alive but outside of this thread I think I'm starting to completely despise BW's community. :| It's not just because I'm on the same side as you guys, but the overwhelming amount of ignorance and close-mindedness is probably going to make me snap one day. I like this place, I like being able to discuss the games that I love with other people but some of the attitudes here just turn me off to the place completely.

Sorry, I don't know if some of the new s/s whining has just rubbed me the wrong way today or if it's just been building for a long time.

Same. I personally avoid the other threads and refrain from answering the "retcon" claims posts because I may sounds... heterophobic.

I'm one of the few that actually prefer Meer over Hale, lol.

I'm liking his voice sense SB and again in the demo of the child I like the fact he's being allowed to show inflection and feeling in his voice less brick is always good. If this keeps up I might just be liking his voice just as much as fshep's voice.

I like Meer AND Hale. I think they both have strong moments and weak moments—but I put the fault for the weak moments squarely on the voice director. We know what they're capable of when given good voice direction.

Here's hoping that when they're called upon to record the s/s romance dialog, they're given GOOD voice direction. (See how I brought it around to be on topic? Go me!)

Probably I'll not go all in for same-sex romances but I'm really curious to see how BioWare handle it.

I'll like very much to see Shepard and Kaidan together!
I was disappointed when Kaidan appeared just a second (some secondsB)) into ME2 and he didn't understand the fact Shepard to work for Ilusive Man. I tried to convince him stay w me: No success.

In time: Yes, there are any Brazilians aound ;-)

I would love some unique s/s dialogue a la fem!shep's "we're both women" line in ME1. Only, a bit more in depth than that. Maybe some awkward "If you're that way" or "I don't know if you feel the same way...". You know, the usual way Bioware games approach the subject without actually saying "gay" or "bisexual". :)

A visit to Ashley's cabin so the two best buddies can light the Hanukkah candles, fix each other's hair, paint their nails and damn sure they don't have any damn recon romances that will anger fans.

This is basically my first post on this thread but I have to ask some people this.

Why is it necessary for shepard to be more emotional in a s/s relationship then a hetero one?

It's not. Shepard should show an appropriate level of emotion in all romances. That's my take anyway. Unless it's meaningless hookup, which should be among Shepard's options. I have a douchebag Shepard that would totally have meaningless hookups.

It's more expressing the sentiment that just as much attention should be paid to the s/s relationships as the het. Equality and what-not. ;)

Agreed but many seem to seem that more emotion should be put into a S/S romance or at least thats what I'm getting from some of these posts.

Why would any of you think that? Honestly its most likely that Bioware will continue with a bland male shepard then one that would show a lesser amount of emotion towards a s/s love interest lol.

If LOTSB is Bioware's model for dialogue and even romance I'd bet the emotion will be better.

I... don't think anyone said that.... I'm looking forward to manShep's interactions with his gay lover because it's been a long time coming, but same-sex content doesn't need to be inherently more "emotional" than heterosexual content.
