A quick suggestion.

If a thread against S/S content does get created, let's just ignore it. We're no better than them if we derail their thread into petty bickering. I'm sure they'll do a fine job making fools of themselves without us.

I agree with this comment! Let's just stay out of any anti-S/S thread and hope that they do the same and stay out of our pro-S/S thread. I mean, I'm not a fan of Miranda, so I simply stay out of her fan-thread. It's not that hard! Why go and ruin someone else's party?

Back on the topic... I really, really hope that gay manShep gets some sort of line to indicate that he likes men, if only because my gayShep has been silent about his sexual preference since ME1. I think that, at most, what I'll get James Vega or Kaidan saying, "Does it bother you that I like men?" and Shepard can reply, "No, it doesn't bother me." but at least that'll be something. I just really need manShep and his lover, no matter who it turns out to be, to recognize and acknowlege that they are in a same-sex relationship. I don't care how they do it, but if manShep's interactions with his gay lover are completely gender-neutral the entire time, I will be very disappointed.

I think Shepard just using the character's name is acknowledgement enough, don't you? Of course it's trickier with the LIs, because both ManShep and FemShep are "Shepard". I do think that if the s/s LIs are bisexual, there should be a different feel for the two versions of the romance, and that the LI should make references to Shepard's gender. I would much rather hear the LI say "You're a beautiful man, Shepard" than "You're beautiful, Shepard".

Do my fellow ME fans want such characters to come with an explanation for their "mysterious" openness to homosexual relationships, or do we just accept the fact that Bioware suddenly had a change of heart on the third game just go with it (IF we want to)?

I'm going to vote for "the issue has never been brought up" and let it go with that.  I'm not really going to worry about why.  Cases can be made for both the VSs being in the Alliance and under Shepard's command that it can simply be a matter of "fraternization".  If the retcon is as simple as that, I won't consider it a real recton, and no fan rage on my behalf will ensue.  I'm sure others want to see something else, but just having the option makes me happy.

I would absolutely squee with joy if Kaiden was the S/S interest.  My word, but I have loved listening to Rafael S'Barge's voice since forever.

Good point.  I'd like to see this with FemShep too.  I also don't want anymore, "You should find yourself a man to stay warm with" Aria comments.  I always cringe at that line.  Well, lines like that can happen but Shepard should be given the chance to say, "Hey, I'm all about the wimmenz" or if she likes men, a "hell yeah!" ...lol.

With Kaidan it's not even a case of fraternization issue. It's already part of the story that he thinks Shepard is straight so even if he was bi he wouldn't hit on a Shepard he thinks he has no chance with.

Depending on the character, I could see it literally being an exchange like this:

LI: "Come on Shepard, you can't tell me you weren't thinking about me that way."

Shepard: "But I...it never occurred to me that you would be interested."

LI: "What, you think I shared X, Y and Z with you because you were my commanding officer?"

Shepard: "Actually, I guess I did."

LI: "You're pretty dense sometimes Shepard. But I'll forgive you if you kiss me."

*they kiss and players squee*

Wut how/when does that line come about? I can't believe I've missed it in all my playthroughs.  Or maybe it was so silly my brain just blocked it out.  Because my Femsheps would prove they were all about the wimmenz, even if they had to **** with Aria to do so! :innocent:

It would have been great to have a snappy comeback for Aria. Even if was just ManShep looking back, raising an eyebrow, and saying "woman?"  (or the equivalent for FemShep, of course)

Righty ho, then. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I'd imagine those characters which return as full time squad members will be available, myself. Or I'm hoping that's so. Given that it's only three characters at any one time, that seems pretty reasonable.

It usually happens for me after the second or third convo with her.  She says it as you walk away from her.  I paraphrased it too as I don't remember the exact lines.  A fling with Aria would be very welcome with me for ME3.

I didn't have a problem with that as Aria is just making an assumption. A rather reasonable one.

It's not like Shepard has to prove anything.

Aria also comments to a maleShep about getting a woman.   Every time I heard that I was thinking...What ever, Aria.

That is exactly what I mean! Recognition of Shepard's gender in his/her relationships... yes please! That was one of the things that I felt Dragon Age 2 did right--the interactions between party members. Even when it was just something as small as Anders saying, "I love him" (versus "I love her") to Fenris, or Varrics, "Did he sweep you off your feet? I assume he did the sweeping... He's taller than you, would've been awkward otherwise..." I absolutely loved it when the game acknowleged that I was in a same-sex relationship. It just made my game feel so much more personal, and I built a deeper connection to the game and its characters because of it.

When that happened with my gayShep, I got so angry and wanted to do a Renegade Interrupt: "STOP. ASSUMING. I'M. STRAIGHT."
