Wait... now Im rather confused... I can't seem to add up a new Fem!Shep romance in the date scene, except for her turning him down. I can only seem to make sense of this conversation for a preromanced Fem!Shep and M!Shep...

FemShep has dialogues for both continued romance with Kaidan from ME1, lines in case FemShep cheated AND for totally new romance with Kaidan in ME3, that's why there's more lines for FemShep, since there's more variables. There's no lines for MaleShep for continued romance.

That's the complete Cortez romance? Not to sound ungrateful but I was expecting a lot more than that, especially after what I heard from the leaks.

Maybe you read Dana's TLK translation from Russian? She mentions Kaidan referring to manShep as "beautiful" instead of handsome.

I don't remember...I remember that it had around 50 something audio files and they were around :03 seconds long each so it probably wasn't that big. I'm certain I got it from the spoiler group though. I don't remember in which topic, but I'll take a look and see if I can find it again.

Edit: mystery solved. Just me mixing things up. Sorry x_x

ultimately, it was considered faster just to have the actor do a take on
every dialog line, regardless of whether it was one that would ever

whether a given line was on the romance track or not.

Yes, Allers and Kelly are no squad members, but like the Consort, Samara and Morinth they have no male equivalent.

If it were James instead of Kaidan in the first game, Ashley would still be alive in most manShep playthroughs. I'm sure whoever wanted to romance him kept him alive. Or will go back and save him.

I don't think BioWare were ever going to treat m/m romance the same as f/f romance in this game. As great as it is that they are finally including m/m in Mass Effect (too late though, and the excuses leading up to this should never be forgotten, nor should they ever be given a free pass on that) it's terribly sad, but not at all surprising considering their sketchy track record that they would give hot chicks in the shower preferential treatment to two icky men falling in love.

Because the fact that Kaidan is dead already in most playthroughs means that Bioware can partially avoid some fanrage since most gamers won't even be able to see that Kaidan is available for manShep. And they know that it's mostly either femSheps or gayShep that have Kaidan alive so...it works better, (for them) in a way.

Yeah, he's dead for most MaleSheps. But most of GAY MaleSheps saved him. Not to mention, you can have him alive in ME3 by picking him as VS in character creator

Back to the Dragon Age team it is then. Their games may not be as polished, but they're certainly not as scared to take risks.
