So I take it all these buckets of drams are on account of Ashley being confirmed hetero or something?

If that's the reason I demand a slender, muscle free, "bishounen" type Male Shepard.  With big, doe like eyes and a luxurious head of spiky hair.  Posted Image

You're using a mocking tone but I want the option for a bishonen shepard, real :D

I hate the western views on physical beauty as burly, chunky men like Vega who is an insult to my eyes. Western opinions look upon Japanese views of male physical beauty with disdain and prefer very large physically masculine men in order to distance away from homosexuality

Bishonen aren't homosexual, it's just a different opinion on physical beauty. Females are often sexualized and objectified to look beautiful. but males are disregarded in this matter and are solely judged on by their accomplishments. Most men in western media are gruff, and in science fiction or fantasy, have brutal faces, because only the shape of the body and upper body muscles matter.

Japanese and other east asian media have a more liberal attitude at least. You can have the same designs in western media. However, females will also often start becoming more than just a pretty face and are sometimes not sexualized at all, while males are much more physically beautiful in addition to an action oriented hero.
Social opinion in north America is of supporting homosexuality being politically correct, however privately among young males, homosexuality is a mark of shame.

oh and the spiky crazy hair is optional. I just hate chunky males

You know what, whatever. I have rarely talked about what I would want in this thread, because it felt selfish when m/m fans had zero options. I wouldn't have even spoken up about my disappointment now, but the bashing is ridiculous.

I'm tired of people on the internet being completely unable to empathize with others, in the slightest way, even when it costs them nothing. Go ahead and call me what you want, I'm out.

It's not everyone in the thread. I'm sure MOST people viewing this discussion are pretty sympathetic about Ashley being s/s unavailable. She's a fantastically written character and your disappointment is totally understandable.

Same here. I think she would have been a great bisexual.

Since the whole thread revolves around IN-GAME romances, mind telling me what the point of this comment was?

I seriously don't know who Lonely Manshep will romance. Yes, I have headcanoned that he has a crush on Kaidan, but hey, Steve could come off as really really appealing. I guess I'll go for what feels natural.

I'm not sure either.  My Femshep who is unattached is super Paragon for the most part and not very agressive.  It's hard for me to see her going after Sam in the "infamous" shower scene, but then again all of that pent of frustration maybe she will.

Of course, she's also close with Liara so maybe she will give in.  I don't see her as much of fling type so no Allers for her. ^_^

I assumed previously that I would go for Kaidan/Vega simply because they're squaddies and I figured they'd have more dialogue. Plus Kaidan has two games worth of character development in his favour. But I am finding Steve more and more appealing. Is it true that we get locked out of all other romances when pursuing one sooner in ME3 than the other games? I would have liked to have tested the water with both characters a bit.

For a video game, it doesn't matter if characters become bisexual just so that homosexuals can get their bit of entertainment, too. I approve of it. I wouldn't mind if Tali became bisexual just so that females can have a dig at her, either, as a Talimancer.

But, outside of video games, I think homosexuals need to realize that not everyone is a homosexual, and hence, cannot see what they see. It's like trying to hit on your straight friend in hopes that she will fall for you and become attracted to you (a girl) romantically.

fair point at the end, but we as heterosexuals need to realize that not everyone is heterosexual and w need to be sensitive and empathize with our homosexual brethren. we get pandered to all the time and they desserve to be pandered to just like we do, they're humans with individual tastes and style. Just like people don't want to see "teh ghey" in their game, I'm sure gay MShep's didn't like Shiala and Gianna hitting on them on Illium, hell Gianna kissees MShep on the cheek.

Either my currently one unattached Shepard will go with Sam or Liara or I might have to make a quick new just for Sam. Hmm....decisions. ;)

Real people I can  hit on and be rejected. There is no magic barrier that does not allow me to at least TRY but I cannot because s/he is not available. Also IRL I have the option to turn away or reject flirting members of the opposite sex and do not automatically react as if I enjoy it.

But LIs are NOT "real." They are ALL fan service. Tali, Jack, Miranda, Ashley, Kaidan, Jacob, etc. And most are written in a way that can barely be considered "gay" or "straight" since gender is very rarely ever acknowledged even in "straight" romances. If the writer really wants a character to be "straight" because it is his/her vision for the character then fine. But if the writer makes a decision of "well there are only 5% gays out there and we already have a gay LI" and used that artificial quota to establish who is or is not a LI? I say THAT sucks.

Now that we kinda/sorta know about new romances.  Perhaps we can talk about who (whom? I always screw up that rule XD) our Shepards will romance and why?

What makes your Shepard compatible with the new announced romances or if they're staying with old, why also?

Side Note:
Don't want to offend or dismiss anyone's feelings because I totally empathize. I promise I'm not trying to be dismissive, just want to bring more peace back to the thread.   (I'm disappointed in no Ashley either, but in truth I really wanted my FemShep to Romance Miranda or Kasumi although I know the latter was never a realistic choice because she's DLC...still... T_T)

My first ME3 runthrough romance will be Kaidan. My very first ME runthrough was modded so my MShep could romance Kaidan. After I got that out of my system (instantaneous gratification? who, me?) I rerolled my MShep and played in vanilla (unmodded) mode through ME and ME2. Man, the longing he felt towards Kaidan and not being able to do anything about it hurt. And even though Ashley, Miranda and Kelly basically threw themselves at him, he only had eyes for Mr. A.

I've always played ME as if I was watching a film trilogy....which will make me applaud, whoop and say 'finally!' to  the long-awaited Shepard/Kaidan payoff. Posted Image

Kira Shepard - Sam
Raine Shepard - Liara (loyal)
Gilbert Shepard - Cortez

Might create a male Shep for Kaidan at some point. I've never romanced Kaidan before because I don't like doing straight romances

Think I'm gonna go with Kaidan for my main Shep. it's the closest he can get to a series branching romance.
My ridiculously naive and unlucky femshep (she's paragon but everything she touches turns to ****) will be going for Samantha first. Then maybe Chobot.... :-/
