until now They've been treated on in the same. similar love scenes, both have great characterizations, snarky, care for Shepard, both take a stand at Horizon and outright refuse to work for cerberus, and both send you a kind letter apologizing for Horizon and both are the secondary male and female lead in ME3, The ONE time they are not the same is in the S/S department when both have very strong demand for it. one characters S/S fan base gets acknowledged, the other doesn't.

I keep hearing this talk of "dividing" and I don't get what it means.

from what I hear from older members there used to be hatred between Ashley and Kaidan fans because of Virmire "ha I killed that racist b***h" and "I killed that whiny gay guy" and similar sentiments were hurled back and forth. That was unitl Horizon when both Characters acted the same way and were put on the sideline in ME2 that's when things cooled down between them and they started being friendly since both characters seemed ot be the ire of the writing team. Now with this Kaidan's S/S fans get to have their cake while Ashley's S/S fans don't and that just breeds jealously and anger since one VS is available in every game while the ohter is only available for manshep. make sense?

I really hope nothing like this ever happens again.  It'd be just what the Reapers want.

Any debate about fairness is just bound to go nowhere.  I personally think it's unfair, and were our roles reversed I'd still think it's unfair, but it doesn't really matter.  Being treated fairly wins us nothing if we both lose out.  We all should stand together regardless, be happy for one another when things go right, and be supportive when things do not.

It makes sense, but IMO, it's stupid. This isn't about character fairness and equality, it is about people not acting like immature children when they don't (or do) get what they want. And such individuals have and always will exist in any fan group, so I wouldn't call it dividing the "VS fans"- If someone acts like an idiot about something, it doesn't matter which character they're a fan of - they don't represent "us", they don't represent "you", they represent themselves and their childish view of things, which to my mind becomes completely irrelevant the moment they start hating on me for something I had no control over.

I did PM the guy who had picture proof of the guide and asked him if he could tell us what it said about the LIs, but I haven't heard back yet.

It makes sense, but IMO, it's stupid. This isn't about character fairness and equality, it is about people not acting like immature children when they don't (or do) get what they want. Each Shep gets one s/s option and one "bi" option.  So, two each. Maybe femshep gets three if Kelly is also a romance option.  She is in the script, but that, like a great many things, could have been cut.

They did a NG+, left Liara, and tried to Romance Ashley.  They were unable to.  All the dialogue they got was a discussion about Ashley being hungover after having a couple of drinks with Vega the night before.  All other dialogue was a form of Zaeed dialogue from ME2.

The way I see it, it has nothing to do with Ash and Kaidan individually. It has more to do with Ash being the lead female for a straight ManShep while Kaidan is the accompanying male for FemShep. His scenes are copy+pasted as much as FemShep's animations were. The Ash/ManShep scenes were obviously done first, though I wish their laziness didn't show so much. Going by BioWare history, the lead female for the male PC has always been exclusively straight. DA2 was the only game that really broke this trend.

In ME3, it looks like female Shepards get about the same amount of content (probably more overall) from Ashley than male Shepards had from Kaidan in the first game.
