I said feminine. Someone else said girly.

I think people are misunderstanding. Kaidan isn't doing something like a Meryl from Metal Gear. At least not as far as I can tell. It's more of Kaidan moving and reacting the exact same way Ash is. Which seems wrong, because they should be more different, and clearly it's more written and acted with Ash in mind. Like Horizon.

If you want to compare it yourself, I don't think I can post a link, but just go to youtube, type Mass Effect, change the upload date to today, and find a walkthrough with the user name Ninja Assassin.

If you think nothing is wrong, that's your choice.

Searching and nothing like that is coming up. You sure that's the username? I only found one playthrough that had Ashley in it, and incidentally, she sits with her legs open like femShep (or manShep? ...Or Kaidan).

Ninja'd
But personally, I don't really see him being all that feminine... :?

Spoilers:
-snip-

This is what makes him "feminine"...Seriously?

I just don't see someone like Kaidan acting like that with Shepard. Ash maybe, but not Shepard.

But he's doing that "because" Ash does that as well.

I'd feel that was more out of character for Ash, if anyone. Kaidan never struck me as particularly stoic or overtly 'masculine' going by the usual perception of masc/fem.

I don't think so. Kaidan was always the type that held back, and tried to be more professional. Especially with Male Shep. Femshep even makes a point that he's always holding back.

Perhaps I've got that impression from the whole 'losing a limb' speech. I never played femshep.

Sorry about the text pyramid. I'm **** on computers and don't know how to cut out the rest of the text without messing up the quote.

Just delete all the quote tags except the very opening one and the last one, as that is the post you're quoting. The ones further out are the more recent quotes.

Anyway, Kaidan is not a different character if you play femShep, that's the point. So if you're femShep, you get to see the more sensitive side of him since there's so much dialogue missing with manShep. But that doesn't mean that side doesn't exist in manShep's universe. Overall, I think that was a very poor argument for "femininity".

Although, I will add that those three = sexyness overload.

...And Liara is forced on me YET AGAIN.

Nvm, I'm still rewatching that hotness.

I don't really dislike Liara, even. I just don't like Bioware's treatment of her.

"Liara. A prothean expert, adept at biotics and maybe most importantly daughter of Beneziah, Saren's top lieutenant. And like most Asari...as beautiful as she is intelligent! Oh and there was Ashley too, somewhere."

Is it particularly bad in 3?

Looks more like Shepard is forcing himself on her, with that smile and all.

I'm a Liara fan, so it works for me, but again, I don't understand why Bioware is forcing how Shepard reacts to squadmates. Example, Shepard doesn't even try to say anything to the VS in the intro. He just walks past them without saying "Nice seeing yah".

Oh, it's bad. Especially if you romanced anyone other than the VS. But even so, the **** just won't die.

@TMA - I meant forced on me as the player, but also, my Shep is like Jim Carrey in Liar Liar. He never asked for it.
Also, you can't pick Vega over her in that mission. I hope no other missions are set up like that.

I'm sure Solid could sure a compliation MP3 with all his dialogue :P

Think I'll have to leave the forums tonight with so many people getting the game? In the UK.
Gonna sound odd, but I hope my copy doesn't arrive Wednesday, I'm off to that London, don't want to spend the whole day looking at David Hockney's art, picturing ME3 related stuff in all of them or seeing Kaidan in them all, cause the CE is sitting in my house 200 miles away from me.

I believe Thane's Siha nickname would be one. I don't see any real stereotypes involved there.

Kaidan's conversation with male Shepard seems to be absent for female Shepard. There's one from ME3 itself that doesn't have any stereotypes.

Those types of things are pretty superficial (Thane could just have a different nickname with MaleShep).  The core of the romance is the same as would be most dialog.

As for giving extra dialog...I don't see the point in allowing one gender to have more content over the other.  In this case, it's probably necessary b/c Kaidan wasn't an option for males in the first game.

Abispa wrote...

Now why are there so many "straight" male and lesbian options again?

Because the Mass Effect team isn't as cool as the DA team.

DA2 made everything fair for everyone.  Actually, with dlc there was even one more male LI then female.  Pre-DA2's release, I recall a forum member throwing a fit b/c straight females got one extra options (Sebastian) than the straight males got...it was amusing.

David Gaider said himself on the DA2 forum that he didn't consider Sebastian a romance option (and neither do I, personally).  But there was something to be said for a character who gives more roleplaying options, for those who want to imagine a future.  I guess that's what they're going for with Vega.

Ugh, I just started ME2 again and was reminded why I hate the Genesis comic. "Beautiful and intelligent" vs. "good kid" or "good soldier". :pinched: "Kaidan was worried about the connection between Liara and I" - no he frickin' wasn't, I didn't pick her up until after Virmire in this playthrough and she didn't have any chance to even hit on Shep. Mostly she just acted crazy and then upset because of the Prothean infodump on her.

Re: Sebastian, didn't the writer (or someone) say his story wasn't over yet? Not sure if they'd incorporate the almost-romance there. Or I could be imagining things.

Also I should thank whoever it was who linked Dave Gahan's "Saw Something" earlier in the thread, I kind of love that song now. <3 I don't know why I haven't listened to more of his solo stuff, I've been a DM fan for a long time...

The only way thats true, is if you include casual gamers in the gamer demographic.

For serious gamers, men will always outnumber women.

Well, I guess Tallis kinda evens that out then.

Hey everyone, Carfax is back! Hi Carfax! :D

I am going to say that Shep doesn't say anything to Ash when they first meet up because there is still such a bond between them that they can communicate solely with facial expression and there's no need for clumsy words to convey the wounded but profound yearning between them. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Lol I like that story. I too will be sticking to it.

As a fan of certain TV shows, I am all too familiar with the term "eye-sex"

Side-note: anyone on the EAST coast planning to get the game and guide at midnight tomorrow, who could let us poor west coasters know what the LI section officially says (I've given up on hearing back from that one dude)?
