Well I can confirm Kaidan for MShep, if there was still any doubt. Don't know about Ashley yet though.

I got the guide, it says Ashley/Kaidan are o/s only so clearly it's wrong... I'll edit this post in a sec with pictures, as well as the rest of the romances.

Ninja'd by Akrim_Drak. My guide says Kaidan is o/s only, which conflicts with picture evidence people are showing here. So another messed up guide for a Bioware game.

Steve seems cool, but somehow not attractive.....  I'm glad we have Kaidan as an option.

By the way, the game has better graphics than the previous 2 installments.  Male Shepard and the VSs look at lot better now.   The game feels a bit too quiet as oftentimes there's no soundtrack at all.

Well, the guide does not exactly say Kaidan can "only" be romanced by a female Shepard. It may be a marketing decision as opposed to an error.

I'm not sure which part jlb524 is talking about, but the dialog wheel did give my Shepard some top right dialog options that SEEMED to imply flirting with Vega. I HAD to choose them because the options on the bottom right seemed too hard ass or mean, but they didn't seem flirty at all once Meer said the lines. I wonder if this is like the Jacob situation where Hale puts a little too much cougar in her line readings?

My Shepard told him to call her Commander and quit it with the Lola crap.  Hopefully that will stop any flirty sounding lines.

Well, I reloaded and did that.

But...then there was another instance on the Citadel when he's getting a tattoo and that one can't be avoided.

Went to a midnight launch, and I'm so happy with the game so far. I adored the hospital visits, but I'm a little worried because Kaidan is now out of the hospital, but I don't know where he is! In the meantime I've been chatting with Cortez, so I'm not sure what to do... I had planned on romancing Kaidan only, and Cortez in a seperate playthrgouh.

Oh, and I just received the most amazing insult from [someone]: "Anthropocentric bag of d!cks." Tee-hee... reminds me think of Louis C.K.

There's a mission that you'll get where some trouble gets started in the Citadel.  Not Reaper level, but still bad.  Kaidan gets involved.  After the mission is completed, he'll meet you right as you return to the Normandy.  I hope that wasn't too spoilerific.

No, that's great. I'm just worried that by the time we meet up again, I'll be tethered to Cortez, because I just can't resist talking to him. Maybe I'll just have to do Kaidan on my next playthrough.

As long as you choose conversation choices on the right side of the wheel you should be ok. However, if you see a conversation choice on the left side of the wheel in a light purple color, I think it will start you on the romance track with that character.

I feel sorry for Cortez - the poor guy is obviously hurting. But for my first playthrough my MShep's heart belongs to Kaidan.

When do I get to solidify things with Kaidan? Gave him his whisky while still in the hospital (which was kind of weird, but whatever), he talked about me flirting with him (and my MaleShep acted like nothing epic just happened; what a moron) and now I have no idea when I'll get the chance to see him again.
