When do I get to solidify things with Kaidan? Gave him his whisky while still in the hospital (which was kind of weird, but whatever), he talked about me flirting with him (and my MaleShep acted like nothing epic just happened; what a moron) and now I have no idea when I'll get the chance to see him again.

You have to do a mission or two while he's in the hospital.  You'll get a letter from him saying that he's been released.  Once you head back, things are a bit crazy at the Citadel, throwing you into a pretty cool mission.  Once you're done with that mission, Kaidan will meet you when you try zoning back to the Normandy. 

Not sure what is absolutely required, but after I did the above, and a few Citadel missions, I noticed Kaidan was at the Apollo Cafe.  The chat there eventually got around to romance .

Well playing as Femshep I have to say that I was impressed with the development with Cortez, he seemed like a fleshed out individual, and despite him not shooting a gun with you he really felt like a part of the squad.

Traynor, despite that accent, kinda fell flat for me. I got /way/ less conversations with her, despite her ending up as my love interest, and she never felt as much of the team as Cortez did. Probably because EDI and Joker were there to do her job of exposition in mission before her...and they kept doing it in the game. So um firstly, did I do something wrong and get far less convos with Traynor than I should? Like did she have one of the Citadel that I missed? And um well, if apparently if femshep can't romance Ash, so much for equal opportunity. :\\

I'm not romancing Traynor atm but I agree that there's hardly any dialog with her. I was hoping there would be more if romanced and it sucks to hear there's not.

So far I'm really liking Cortez, but my Sentinel has to go for Kaidan. I wish I could find somebody for Cortez though, he's such a nice pony.

Maybe you were in a relationship with someone. You been dancing with Cortez? The map lied about where he was (said he was with EDI and Joker down in Purgatory's lower bar, when he was upstairs), so I couldn't find him until after I'd started the romance with Kaidan. I couldn't flirt with him, then, but I think you can do this before you can flirt with Kaidan.

I kind of like that he's not gorgeous. I also think Samantha is attractive without being a cartoon sexpot, I like that too. Diana Allers, though, looks like she's running around in a slip. Homegirl needs a better bra, for one thing, and some faces just don't cross the divide into the digital realm. Jessica Chobot is a pretty girl, but her Mass Effect alter ego is a world of NO.

She seems nice, but we really don't get to know her very well.  And after seeing her romance scene, I'm not really interested anymore, which is disappointing.  I just can't see any Shepard I play going into that scene with a straight face.

Say what you will about dead spouses, but I definitely felt more connected to Cortez after a few conversations.

I did already do the dancing with Cortez...so, entering a relationship with one locks out the other? Totally lame...especially considering the Cortez culmination comes up first (or at least, it did in my game). I was hoping Shepard's first foray into man-loving would come with a triangle...how sad

I'm still playing my maleshep and wow he and traynor hit it off like nobody's business. I held off on the obvious "hit on her" lines and their friendship is amazing.

I'm glad I got the heads-up about taking things too far with Cortez if you want to romance Kaidan. I decided to play my gay Sentinel first, because his face seemed the easiest to recreate from scratch, and I was least satisfied with his original face of my six Shepards. I really hope they get the facecode situation squared away soon, I may end up playing my Adept and my Vanguard dead last, I never thought that would happen. :/

I thought Shepard would at least have the sense to take off her clothes before joining her, but no, she's an even bigger NeverNude than Sam appears to be.  

I wanted to point out to Samantha that if she wants better shower experiences, taking off undies is the first step.

I wonder if it's just a male S/S thing?  Even after I had the opening romance conversation with Kaidan at the cafe, my gay Shep still got romance prompts from Liara and Diana.

The issue I'm having is that the dialog with Cortez is very difficult to determine from the options they give you, which options are just being friendly and concerned, and which are going beyond that.

I don't care about his sexual preference, the poor guys been through hell and he deserves a friend but I don't want to be in a relationship with him because I'm not homosexual. How do I stay away from romancing him and just be a good friend? It seemed to me that as long as I stick to non-left wheel choices that I'm good...can anyone verify this?

Try it, and stay away from any "persuade" options. Worst case scenario, you have to tell him you're not interested. I'm sure the game would give you that option if you accidentally trigger the romance somehow.

Don't worry, there's a three-layer dialogue barrier during the romance opener to becoming his boyfriend.  You have to be very, VERY clear to him that you want something more than friendship before he goes for it.  So you can be as friendly as you want.  Once you get to the scene at the bar, the game makes it plain as day which conversation choices lead to friendship and which ones lead to more.  Cortez is not a ninjamancer .

To be fair Isaac, he may not have reached that point yet, I haven't either. I'm also concerned about accidentally romancing Cortez—but only because my Sentinel is going after Kaidan, his longtime crush. I'll have to do the Cortez romance in another playthrough though, I like the character a lot.
