And aside of that romance, there's really nothing. Just because they called that written on the knee fling with Samantha as "romance" doesn't magically turn it into one.

Is it really that bad? I know I was disappointed with her seeming lack of involvement in... well, in anything, really. She seemed to me like Kelly, if Kelly had never actually had anything to say.

Can female Shepard have any involvement with the reporter (I know it doesn't count, but I'm curious if it's even available, since there is none of the rumored flirting with Vega for a male Shepard)?

Speaking of James, I've been entirely underwhelmed. I thought he would take the place of staunch comrade, but he's really sort of juvenile and dull.

And yes...I still think Jack would have been an awesome s/s choice. xD I didn't think I'd like her, then I did. I didn't think she'd be a great teacher...but damn is she awesome. xD

I thought they said her look was going to be more mature?

If anything, she's more ridiculous than ever. Seriously, who makes clothes that zig-zag around like that? She was better off naked, for all the sense her new outfit has. Yeah, the boobie strings were patently absurd, but at least it said "I won't cover my breasts, and I don't care" instead of trying to come up with excuses to justify itself as a top.

I keep waiting for Mel Gibson to come tearing into the room and mangle some post-apocalyptic cannibals every time I see her.

After his first dialogue with Shepard... the one he keeps doing chin ups while talking to a "Commander" shows how good soldier and how mature indivudal he is. On top of that he loves renegadeish replies... creeepy.Posted Image

Ah also he ain't capable of taking down a Phantom without protections... I had to kill her myself then rez him. Squadmate AI is worse than ME2 I guess.

I think ME design team need more people with fashion sense. I lack that sense big time but at least I can see how horrible nearly all clothing in ME franchise is.

Why Salarian's have a handle on their chest? Why humans dress like heavy workers with itchy looking fabrics? Why all Turians have hump on their back? Why all women must wear a second skin as a cloth, they can wander around naked as well.

Weapons, races, planets and vechiles all desinged awesome but fashion is dead in ME.

But he's not clever or "cute" or inspiring or comforting.

He's a troll. He's friends with everyone but doesn't actually do anything for anyone that I could tell. You may as well talk to a brick wall for all the empathy you get from this man-child.

... I'm sure that's too harsh, and I'm sure he'll grow on me if I ever go back and do everything and pay attention to every little detail, but I was expecting much more from him after the demo than what I've been seeing since.

I spam biotic combos. I have relatively little use for pure soldiers, although I'd still choose him over the DLC squad mate (that guy's an ass).

The bot is the only companion I've never taken anywhere. She's so stupid-looking; I like her, but I'd rather you could just load her into your omni-tool and have her be a hologram on the battlefield. (And what does she even do that you can't hook her up to your fish tank to feed your fish, you need a separate 25,000-credit VI program?)

I figured she still wants to run around mostly naked, but much like her swearing has to be kept in check in a 'school' setting, so does her dress code. So she threw that ensemble together to shut up the school board. But did so half-assed, since she doesn't really give a crap about being all proper. *shrugs*

I mostly take Garrus and Liara with me into battle, and then snipe about 90% of the time. xD So i've not had a squadmate die on me yet in a fight.

On a side note, has anyone in here played Heavy Rain? I don't know why, but the little boy that haunts Shepard in this game reminds me so much of the MC's son in Heavy Rain. xD

The ONLY reason I am subjecting myself to the pain of playing ME3 again is for Cortez.  Kaidan's absence at the begining of the game let me get quite attached to him and I almost chose him over Kaidan but Kaidan has been such a long time coming, I had to choose him first.

The pain thoughout the game itself was kind of "good" pain, I was emotional as a friggin 9 year girl through the whole game, I think about bits of it now and get teary but the end was bad bad BAD pain, more like Hotaru no Haka/Grave of the Fireflies pain.  I am tempted to stop after the farewell speaches to the crewmates because I don't want to go through it again.  The thought of a "special" ending for an imported ME3 character is the only thing that will make me play it.

I have problems with Warp in ME3. It ain't acting like ME2 or MP demo. If your target moves it follows a straight line instead of following it. So Matt uses Cluster grenade, Singularity and Shockwave mostly. I love equal amount of weapon and powers. Avenger and that marble throwing gun is awesome with that combo.

My mainstay team member on ME2 was Miranda because of Warp and Overload. In ME3 I used Kaidan then opted for EDI on his absence. EDI way much better than Tali or any Soldier. However enemies moves too fast for my taste now and I use soldiers as meat shield. Grunt was perfect for that, especially for blasting out groups of husks on IFF mission.

@Blue
Don't remind me that child. I don't like children... hmm better wording I can't stand them and not find them cute most of the time. I thought I got rid of that thing when Reaper blasted his shuttle but appearantly I am not lucky.

And thanks for nice Jack info, now I am looking forward to re-start game and see her in game.

At least they fnally gave Shepard some decent casual attire that actually *looks* casual.  The jacket t and jeans is a million times better than the gay cowboy outfit which looks gayer in ME3 to me.  I think the hoodie is OK too but I hated the "people who serve 5 years are entitled to a special N7 hoodie" description from EDI.  If that's the case, BW should have made it a bonus for people that used an import save that covered ME1&2, sorry PS3 only players :(

I think this only happens with a roll. Enemies can dodge your "homing" powers by rolling out of the way (not sure they can dodge squad powers, since those are direct impact).

It should follow them if they move (just running to some place), but not if they dodge. Which is why you grab them first with shorter cooldowns like Pull (I rarely Pulled in ME2, but upgraded Pull+Throw is working pretty cool now) or Singularity. They can't dodge if they're ragdolled!

Except for the dodging, I haven't noticed any difference from ME2?

Asperius wrote...

I almost never use the grenades. I want to, but I always mess up with the cluster physics. I want frags, not bouncing blastglobes that fly in different directions.

Sadly, Shockwave has never seen much use here. I acknowledge its effectiveness, but I don't seem to ever really need it (except in ME2, where you can just mow whole fields of husks).

I'd like to use some of the other combo mechanics (like grenades doing extra damage to ragdolls, or warp ammo, or whatever), but fights never last long enough outside the highest difficulty for me to remember to experiment with it.

The Kirrahee gun is too heavy (with a lighter load, your cooldowns can be crazy short). I stick with the Mattock (I suck with automatic fire) and the Phalanx, same as I do through all of ME2 (once you get the bonus gun).

Grunt was one of my favorites. Even if I didn't need him for a fight, his battle taunts are worth it, every time.

In ME I almost exclusively use Kaidan and Garrus, although Ashley sees fair use for story reasons. I never seemed to really use Tali or Wrex, unless running some of the Pinnacle Station tests.

I got a lot more use out of Miranda my last playthrough of ME2. She works fairly effectively. All of the major plots were usually Garrus and Grunt, but I did switch in Jacob or Miranda when I felt like it. (Like Kaidan in ME, once Jacob gets Barrier, I know I can mostly ignore him for an entire fight, and he'll usually survive at least until the worst is over.)

Honestly, I think Kaidan's loadout in ME3 kind of sucks, and somehow I end up taking Liara everywhere. Even after getting the bot and the DLC mate, I still favor Liara and James or Garrus.

It's contrivance to sort of tie the endgame into the rest of it.

Actually, Asari are (humanoid) female-looking hermaphodites. They can also act as a father... M.

No. Asari reproduce by a fascinating little method called parthenogenesis. Parthenogenesis only required the genetic material of the mother (the egg cell) - there are no sperm or second gamete of any kind involved.

If Liara and Female Sheperd were to have a child, Liara would bear it (Liara cannot impregnate Female Sheperd, which she could be capable of doing if she were truly hermaphroditic). The genes of that child would physically come from Liara. The idea that this child takes on some traits of the "father" could quite possibly be because the nervous system scrambling forces the genes that are most like the "father" in the mother's genetic make up to be expressed. In all liklihood, however, the traits seen as coming from the "father" are in fact traits aquired through nurture rather than nature, and the merging of nervous systems merely prompts the process to begin.

Please note that I am not an expert, and thus I might have some of the details wrong for parthenogenesis, but also bear in mind we are talking about a fantasy species that doesn't actually exist. So for all we know, a wizard did it. Asari are, according to the CODEX (why people insist on arguing with the Codex, I'll never know), FEMALE.

For flirting line with Kaidan you need to ask him about his biotics on hospital visit. On first one after auto cutscene you can click on him again and talk with him.

I think he doesn't do this for adepts? And he also doesn't talk "handsomeness" if you import?

It just figures that gay Shepard would be my canon adept. No flirt jokes and no statements of manly attraction for him. :-)

You need to buy him present if you want to get flirting line in hospital. if you don't buy it for him, he will have neutral line instead when Shep says "Or maybe you have (got better with age)".

Handsome line most likely doesn't depend on import/non-import since I've seen accounts from people having non-import Sheps getting both versions. It *may* depend on Renegade options picked during Udina coup, at least from what I got from Solid's testing.

I like the look on Kaidan's face when he says "someone handsome".  He looked either closeted or shy, or both.   Too bad my Shep got the "Have you ever known me to be with anyone" line instead.

Kaidan's some lines really made me giggle.

Someone you know.... Someone close to you... Someone sitting next to you in a leather jacket named Shepard. LOL!

Kaidan is so sweet.

Yeah, I just found that out about the present thing.

How does the Kaidan romance work, anyway? I've heard a lot of people say they missed the cues or only got a friendship convo in the Apollo Cafe scene...

Well it works normal I guess.

I guess present/flirting line is start of it.

Then I visited him whenever he is available. I never used renegade options on him(only Renegade interrupt on Udina). After Udina Crisis when he joins you, if you go to cafe he's there. Romance option and achievement gained. As ME3 doesn't known for its plenty convo options, during Cafe scene all paragon options lead to romance. However if they have ongoing romance they probably get friend talk. Liara has similar scene which smells like romance starter but says "blah blah blah... just friends". I visited her after starting Kaidan romance so just wild guessing.

I'm honestly not sure.

The only thing I did was be supportive. The import (correctly) said it had no ME and no ME2 romance. So I just played through, and when I showed up, it turned out to be a date. There wasn't really anything overt, and I didn't see any way to flirt with him prior (I know in the save where I had the date, the "gift" wasn't purchased, so that apparently doesn't matter).

I figured out how to romance Steve, but I couldn't get Liara to show any interest in me (shocker!).

I did the Renegade interrupt at the end of the quest where Kaidan finally returns, but there was still no "handsome" line during the date, so it must be keyed off something else.

I imported a male Shepard with no romances in either game, and it almost felt impossible not to romance him. Take all the upper right dialog options on Mars, basically validate his concerns about you and Cerberus and reassure him that you don't work for them anymore. Visit him at the hospital when he's unconscious (again, I took the upper right options), Go visit him after he wakes up (he'll e-mail you) and make sure you get him the whiskey from the hospital store. Again, just be nice to him. After the dialog, click on him again. Make sure you take every investigate option and eventually you should get the flirting line. I think there's one or two more hospital visits before he gets out. Again, just be nice to him and encouraging when the question of him joining the spectres comes up. That should build up enough trust for you to be able to avoid killing him during Udina's coup. After that, invite him to rejoin the Normandy when you meet him at the airlock. He's supposed to send an e-mail about meeting you at the cafe, but I happened upon him there and talked to him before I ever got the e-mail. The dialog trigger for the romance is very obvious for that conversation.

What Solid mentioned was not interrupt but saying Kaidan to stand down (renegade option talk). Interrupt doesn't change much I guess.

So we can assume both Liara's and Kaidan's Citadel scenes are romance starters? However while Liara send me a mail, I get a late invitation to "date" from Kaidan by mouth. However thinking it now, he probably talking about another date as he said he sure that place have steak which Citadel Cafe doesn't have.

When did you get a later verbal invitation? I know Kaidan will send you a message to meet him at the cafe, but you have to do a mission between his return and talking to him on the Citadel (he'll be there for the date regardless, but he'll send a message if you wait).

I know I talked to Liara on the Citadel, I think maybe twice even, with no active romance, and she still didn't want to hook up. Maybe there's another one (she has so many freaking conversations, who can keep track).

It's one of those things BioWare put into dialogue that we sadly never get to see.  Like when he asks Shepard "why didn't you wake me?" with a sly grin.

My problem with Vega is that he feels like a frat boy obsessed with himself, and all the spanglish was just... not necessary, Eh' Loco? -_- I do love all the jabs Steve makes at him that totally fly over his head though. Let's just say I brought him on no more missions than I was required to. Even Javik was better, and he was a total douche!

Like Vega about as much as Ryzaki loooooves EDI's body! (She really actually grew on me, at least her alt outfits are actual clothes!)

Guys I just unlocked Paramour with Kaidan last night. I'm SO happy.   I woke up this morning asking myself if that actually happened so I reloaded the save to play it out again... yep, it happened! hahaha.

I ran into some differences though... he actually called me "handsome" in this date. In other scenes I've seen, he asks me "have you ever known me to be with anyone? Maybe I'm just patient... or choosy." In my playthrough, he never said that to me, instead saying he's looking for someone handsome and that he doesn't have to look far.

Which is weird, because I thought everyone who imported their ManShep didn't get the "handsome" line. I'm playing the PS3 version and I imported my save from 2 [I didn't romance anyone], so maybe that made a difference?

Either way I am the happiest gamer alive right now! The whole date scene dialogue was just really sweet. Sbarge's voice makes it all the better. I can't wait for how the rest of the romance will play out!

I don't usually post after the games launch, but this I have to mention, It's an incredible story in spite of the endings.
I even like Liara, she's not pushy at all and a very good friend. Loved Samantha, Vega and EDI (even though I didn't think I would). Cortez is just unbelievable, hes such a good character and it feels like he's part of the crew and it pains me not to romance him in my 1st playthrough!!
And god, I just had the date with Kaidan as m!shep, and it's just awesome. Loved it, every single second. It feels so right and realistic. Thanks Bioware for creating such good characters!!

Agreed in all counts. Although I don't know anything about the endings. Don't spoil me lol!

Out of curiosity, for your date scene, did Kaidan say you were handsome or did he ask you if you've ever known him to be with anyone?

Maybe it's because you imported a ME2/Genesis save? My ME2 save was for a character imported from ME...
