yeah shep is pretty much forced to be liaras friend... and I was sad that I couldent kill her either =/

Well, Liara is very important to the story, so I can understand I couldn't kill her. But the option " Let's be clear T'soni, I don't like you, you are just useful against the reapers, a tool in my hands. As long as you just do your job, we will be fine. Got it ? " would have been nice.

I mean, they surely know that for each character, there will be always people who like them or dislike them. Easy to tell ourself, well I can't kill her, but " I can't express my feelings " not so much...

Finished the game! If Kaidan's is a fully developed romance, I'd hate to see what Samantha's is like. Shep and Kaidan just agreed that they were into each other and then occasionally made passing references to being together until that hilarious sex scene (Sheploo's horny face. oh my god.). I didn't mind too much- I'm not actually that interested in romances in these games. I just like it when gay ones are there.

Then
again I detached myself and already believed that Shepard isn't my
character. It's Bioware's character and you can only affect certain
things.

I agree. I've never felt or needed much ownership of Shep's character. Bioware has changed how they've handled Shepard each game- I think the character's better written now, but much harder to project things onto than s/he originally was. I get why people miss that, but... I don't.

Because it is magical reproduction, I figure asari do get something from their father. That and because Matriarch Aethyta is always right.

I always thought that what is gotten from the "father" is something like an ancestral memory like the Prothean cypher Shepard gets.

*shrugs*  I think giving us the bare bones and seeing if we argue is something BW intended.

I don't have a problem with auto-dialog myself, since I understood that It makes the story more alive, and allows more lines and more interesting stuff in the banters during the cutscenes. Much more epic, relevance. ( the lines are also well written ) In M2 , I always felt, that once shepard give his response, the npc give one or two lines according to the dialogue option and that's it.

Also, since DA2, I learned that something like ' entirely my character ' doesn't exist anymore. One year and more that I am used to this idea.

I don't know. Sam feels like part of my team. She lets me know when there are emails or a comm vid. And she works real hard to put things together and find information for Shepard. It shows that when she gives you the N7 Cerberus missions. She's very intelligent and hard working. I rather consider her a good friend to my gay shep, and I'm grateful for her hard work. Sure she can't pilot a shuttle, but she's doing her best with what she can do on the ship.

She does her work out of mission, and while doing that kind of intel is very valuable (I am sure) in an actual war, in a game we always kind of assume our missions will find us. I know she isn't the shuttle pilot, but there are tons of times when valuable intel comes up mid mission, and instead of EDI or Joker commentating on it, it should have been her.

Samantha does show that she is valuable on the normandy. Thanks to her, there are many things happened, and you could even praise her at one moment for something particular she has done. She just needs more content, with cinematics.

How is the romance with her ? Is it awful like Diana Allers ? like interview, and hop immediately, close the door and come on baby ? There's at least a progressive path ?

The romance is pretty much she comes up to your room to play Chess, shower scene happens (in that dialogue.) You get a couple flirty...banters? (I don't know what to call the non scripted dialogue) and then another romance cutscene before the Cerberus base mission. Finally you have a talk before you head off to Earth. However you do not get an option to call her while you are on the camp, so there is no real final goodbye except for the pre-mission one...which well...it wasn't bad but the ending kinda makes it really sting...

And that is the Sam romance, the dialogue and sutff is written to imply she and Shep care about each other, and I could see it if she had more content, as I /do/ like the character for all my whining. It is just so abreviated. It feels rushed because there is no date scene before you hop into bed with one another. Also the shower scene is very silly.

Nobody ever deluded him/herself that Shep is totally his/her character. It's impossible unless we were able to say anything we wanted and characters could reacts to anything we say (which probably won't happen for another 50-100 years lol). The point is in giving enough illusion of control to make itb believeable. That's the base idea behind pretty much every gameplay mechanic in video games. Exploration - give you bigger terrain to help the illusion of your character being able to explore big world/cities/galaxy. Of course no one deludes himself we have total control over the world and can make Shep go to Paris, but there's enough areas to make the illusion of travelling believable. Same with customizaiton. Enough mods/guns and suddenly, it feels like a rich and more believable experience. Dialogues are no different. EVEN if they're suppoued to lead to the same resolution (for storytelling purpouses), there should be options given to create illusion we have a say in getting to that point.

Anyway, back to Kaidan! :D I'm so glad I didn't watch the date scene on YT earlier, experiencing it in the game after all the previous interaciton with Kaidan was so much better! It all fit perfectly <3 Music, scenery, facial expressions :D So glad it finally happened! <3 Thank you BioWare!!!

Okay. Indeed in this case,  I do agree with the bold part.

Bioware needs to fix that. They can't let such a good character like that, becoming a potential  LI wasted... ( like lotsb saved Liara )

Personally, the lines are enough for me, I don't know why.  I can imagine after in my head, but yeah.  However, the idea to see underwear in the shower really bothers me. I hope to see some modders working on this one day...

For me, Bioware did know pretty much what it was doing with its pc's interactions. They knew the reactions with DA2, they knew that many people would be upset ( traditional fans since baldur gate for example or evcen M1 lovers ) with their system, and they decided to do it.

It is impossible they didn't expect many people disapppointed to see dialogue options streamlined like that. It is clearly a design choice.

Just had a friendly chat with Liara. She remembers her childhood and mentions that she used to think her mother (Benezia) is the most beautiful WOMAN in the world. Does that not settle the argument once and for all?
It is disappointing if Samantha isn't as fleshed out as other characters, but at least Liara is available, and she is obviously BioWare's favorite character.

Quick question: is Ashley romanceable for female characters? I can't find that she is, which I think is really bizarre, since Kaidan is now an option for male Shepards.

Relax.  She gave me an option to be friends or to "keep it professional."

Same thing with Garrus, but he teased me if I am going to propose marriage to him next.  My ManShep just laughed without giving me any options.

Unfortunately, the male/male romance in ME3 is... an emotional wreck. I guess it was better than trying to kill me first thing. But oddly enough, tears were more of a turn-off.

I cannot romance Kaidan to save my life! Lol. I'm trying to do this with a maleShep and I am failing. I'm not getting any of the romance options, whatsoever. Any tips?

For reference this Shep is an import but has not been involved in a single romance... not even briefly. Made specifically for Kaidan. Is it because he's mostly renegade and isn't always super-nice to Kaidan? Agh... frustrating. For now I'm just setting this run aside because I have no idea what I'm supposed to do.

You have to chose paragon options to advance a relationship, even if you are a renegade otherwise.  In most cases, this will not affect your allignment.

Did you visit him at the hospital, bought him present and still expressed that you like him (even if in Renegade way)? I don't think being a Renegade would lock out the romance, unless you pick every single Renegade option even the ones that are blatantly super-rude to him
