edit: Good rule of thumb is to check the map every time you enter an area on the citadel. NPC's that can be interacted with will be listed.

It wasn't until I started my second run and visited Kaidan for the first time that I realised you can look at all floors of the Citadel using the LB/RB buttons when the map is displayed.  I wasted so much time travelling to every floor each time I was there to see if anyone from the ship was around.

I didn't know that at all. Thanks for telling me. :D

*SPOILERS*

Guys I just finished the game!

I'm DEPRESSED AS HELL, but I gotta say, the Same Sex romance arc with Kaidan and ManShep was extremely fulfilling and satisfying for me. No matter my feelings with the endings, I am just extremely grateful that BioWare included something in the games that I've been waiting for for years... and at least that part of the experience paid off.

I'm sad Kaidan never tells ManShep "I love you" but still, saying goodbye to him on Earth was one of my favorite moments in the entire series... :crying:

he can live in one of the endings but not only is it impossible to get without afew mp matches (good for me MP is rather fun) but its still not a "good" ending for people looking for a good ending (i wasnt even looking for a happy sunshine ending either and still hated how the endings are a giant plothole that throws everything out the window)

The Kaidan romance was amazing. I was so glad Bioware gave us this choice and I'm glad that they developed it the way it did. I was left wanting more only because it was so satisfying, like my opinion on everything else in the game. Time to build up another male Shepard and get Cortez!

I have to say, the ending(s) does sound depressing. (Not sure what constitutes a spoiler any more, so there's stuff that might be spoilers below...)

I hate it when my character is killed and I have no real choice to save them. (Which is one of the reasons why I always either took the Dark Ritual or forced someone else to sacrifice themselves in DA:O.)

It's getting to the point where "bad/sad endings" are just as clichéd as "happy endings", IMHO.

I guess I'll keep playing and hope they "fix" things with DLC. (And flesh out Sam's romance more too, that'd be nice... and maybe "bi-ify" Ashley.)

While I'm glad they added Kaidan for mshep, and I was very satisfied with the romance, I almost wish they didn't add it in. My Shepard could've died a hero and it would have been a lot easier to accept if he didn't leave Kaidan behind. And although they didn't need to say it, I feel like They should have had the chance to say "I love you" it almost feels unfinished which makes me angry that Shep couldn't get back to him.

It was kinda the same with Dragon Age 2 for me. I romanced Anders the first time Through so that last chapter ended up just miserable for me and the ending pissed me off.

You're welcome ^_^

I was thinking last night about the farewell kiss with Kaidan and could not remember if they ever said "I love you", I was crying too much at that point to remember much :crying:.  It's a shame they didn't, that would have been nice but in saying that, I thought their final words were perfect.

I wish there was more interaction, just like with DA2, but I thought the romance scene at the end was by far the best written romance scene I have seen from BioWare which would be ME and Origins/DA2.  The animation throughout the entire scene was also amazing.  I can't wait to see Steve's story.  It sure will be hard only being "brothers" with Kaidan this time.  I do wish he expressed his feelings for Shepard even if you visit Steve and start a romance before visiting Kaidan at the cafe.  Steve expresses interest but adds "but I know you have something with Kaidan".  Kaidan could have said something similar, maybe regretting not telling Shepard sooner because it meant he lost him to another man.  Given the history, that would be perfect.

Does the straight FemShep/Kaidan romance get the "I love you" line?

Also guys, I saw _Dana_' video using an modified save file where ManShep romanced Kaidan in ME1 and ME2. Here's the changed dialogue as a result in ME3... and watching it now, I REALLY wish he said these things to my manshep! Ahhh the hospital scene has much better dialogue (even though one line is silent... it's not that big of a bother.)

link: youtu.be/Q7lD2sHdGVA

I'm just wondering if anyone actually tried a modded save file romance? Do other characters and NPCs in ME3 refer to your Shepard as a female even though you're playing a guy?

Because at the end of the video I just linked, Kaidan calls MShep "sir" before MShep gazes longingly at Kaidan's ass. :D Just wondering, because I'm thinking of trying this myself...

From what I've seen of that romance you get a lot of; "someone I love" lines but not an out-right "I love you" from Kaidan. It is probably how that character is written.

That video made me jealous that a real mShep will never get to experience that. I am wondering why my Shepard didn't stare at Kaidan's bum as he walked away now.

Also, did Mark Meer voice female lines again because there was different responses there that I never heard. I am still wondering if both sets of voices were included in the 360 version and if there is any way of using a modded 360 to play mShep/Kaidan romance. I could never get the equal love mod working with the PS3 version of DAO and that was a simple override file. Why does the ME mod have to be so complicated? I tried playing the PC version of ME1 and just couldn't get used to it. If only it had 360 pad support.

The female Shepard imported romance gets "love" lines, the new romance (including S/S) doesn't.

So, I was thinking. Star Trek has plenty of "alternate universe" episodes.
Can we please have "alternate universe" DLC, where Ashley, Jack and Miranda are alive and gay?!

I want them moar than ever and it's your fault, Bioware, for making them so awesome. Now fix this!

edit:

Oh, and on the subject of "Moar":

Sam is great, but she could use a little more convos and maybe let her off the ship once in a while, too. This romance is very "light." I thought there would be a little more personal talk with her :(

This is exactly what I got on my bugged save import! Every single line up until the dinner date scene! Then we were randomly "bros" again.

Hmm... I wonder what happened. Looking back on it and comparing it to the vanilla non-import one... Yeah. That one's way better.

Edit: And to answer your question, no. None of the other characters refer to you as female. After the date scene went wrong, I decided to romance Steve instead. And I initiated it with no gender issues.

Posted this a few weeks ago but with all that's been going on regarding the endings I thought I'd put it up again.

This was a commission I had done by Aimo before ME3's release. I've titled it "A Promise Fufilled".  Consider it a virtual hug from me to all Sheploo/Kaidan fans.

Hope you like.

if you did the destroy ending with shep living at the end you could always hope that the Quantum entanglement communication system on the normandy wasnt destroyed since it doesnt rely on the mass relays to communicate with them and there is still FTL travel (though depending on how close they crashed to earth it could take a a year or two or even 27 years given how fast alliance FTL travel is) but that would require the normandy crew somehow finding out where the hell they crashed...

or you can just do the "shepard was having a blood loss dream when he acended into the light" excuse <_<

Howdy all

Longtime lurker on these forums.  Have been browsing them religiously these last few months, riding the mshep/Kaidan romance rollercoaster along with you fine folks.  Kudo's to you Issac for always being optimistic, it paid off!

Just finished my first playthrough, with my mshep romancing Kaidan...absolutely loved every second of of the romance. From the shy and vunerable presidium date, to the end Earth goodbye scene, the romance had me laughing at times ("You always were the stubborn one Kaidan" "... :PHeh...me?"), to feeling sad and emotional at the end. In fact, I'm still feeling sad and emotionally drained 2 hours after finishing the game.

It's to Bioware's credit that they can write such an interesting story (except for perhaps the ending), with such memorable and interesting characters that you can't help but grow to love. if only the mass effect universe (and Kaidan!) was real! ...well except for the whole reaper war thing.

That all said, I'm hoping to brave the multiplayer world to bump up galatic readiness to get a slightly more optimal ending...not that it changes much from what I read.  I would prefer to play with like minded individuals, so if any of you guys/gals are are willing to play with a multiplayer rookie such as myself (never tried it in the demo) please add me. xbox gamertag = ChaoticLoon

Damn. I thought it was said that you could still get the 'best' ending even without the multiplayer stuff. I guess I'll have to play a few rounds of that to. <_<

And that picture...so much win. I love Aimo with her art for s/s and Dragon Age. <3

I wouldent say the shepard surviving ending is the best ending... considering what you have to do in it and really its like a 10 second add on still doesnt fix the plot holes or lack of closure though

X-Box gamertag is the same name for me. Daashi.

I have to say despite the joys, sorrows, and all around rollercoaster that is this thread I have gotten more X-Box friends off this thread than the rest of my 360 ownership.

I hat to say this, but I am kind-of hoping that Edios sues because of those endings, it might force BW to come up with original endings. (Hell who am I kidding even if Edios sues BW will probably make a backroom deal that forces us to deal with those endings.)

Seriously about the endings; (spoilers)

Why is the Normandy going through a mass relay when they are being destroyed? It was in orbit around Earth fighting in the battle, was it fleeing? If so, why? And your crew (even those you took with you to try and board the Citadel are suddendly on board! They were suppose to be on Earth fighting on the ground! Why is it the you destroy all AI and not just the Reapers? And why if you choose to control all AI, EDI and the geth suddendly disappear?

Seriously BW WTF!!! It is one thing to depress the hell out of me (you can always use the excuse of "the story is important and any other endings would have compromised the story", I would have respected that. But endings that make no sense and a blantant rip-off another game's ending are pissing me off.

Sorry got off-topic here. Yay Male Shepard/Kaidan romance! *waves flags* Back on topic.

Wow um... just watched Dana's modded video, they HAD to have known people would import that save and purposefully had Meer record some of those lines. There's no way to get most of em in an unmodded game... I imported a normal save because I knew I didn't need the mod in 3 for Kaidan, looks like I imported the wrong save!

And you would be considered male in 3 yes, to whoever asked the question, the game only thinks you're female in 1, then it corrects itself in 2, so if you just used gibbed or whatever you wouldn't get any female pronouns.
