Honestly I think that's better. The scenes look clumsy and I'm uncomfortable with how much of the target audience is made up of "omg moar sex pl0x" people. There are ways to do 'romance' scenes that aren't sex.

Then why all that noise about "the" gay sex when it leaked? I mean, there's no gay sex at all, just two guys hugging one another while sleeping. No big deal, I've woke up like that sometimes with straight friends and doesn't mean anything... Some people are such weirdos.<_<

edit: @Asperious: I can relate to that, well I don't feel it's wrong, it's just that I just can't say no to Kaidan, he's my Shep's weakness. :pinched:
Gonna have to use an edited save game with Ash alive to be able to romace him!!:P

They're still half naked on the bed cuddling. Good enough for me.

Which reminds me of how funny the sheets looked in Kaidan's.

On contrary I found Shep/Kaidan under the sheets one more natural. It ain't a factor for me choosing Kaidan over Steve tho'. No matter how much I try I can't romance with Steve it feels wrong for me.

Also Kaidan waited for Shep too long... Posted Image

Hah some people even freaking out by "husband" word in Steve's dialogues.

I want to talk about Vega.
You don't seem to get the opportunity to flirt with him as male Shepard.
And if you interpret the "bed's harder than it looks" comment as flirting (which it probably isn't given that it's auto dialog), Vega gets weirded out (as in not interested whatsoever).

I'm talking about the model/physics for the sheets. Didn't look convincing.

And exactly how much booze was consumed the night before these "incidents"?

I adored the Kaidan romance in this game.

Made me fall in love with him all over again. Kaidan is my fav character. :-)

Lol. Not much, tbh. I just slept over, when it's cold and you are sleeping you don't care about gender. We just separated after waking up. That's why I don't understand that reaction. Some people are too insecure.

Also the husband line shouldn't be a problem, it's not like he's proposing shepard. The poor guy is upset.

By the way, Kaidan doesn't have too much romance banter outside the combos and some missions where he gets worried about shepard, in fact, I can just think of once, the "next time wake me" line. Does Steve have romance banter or not? (If I'm gonna resurrect Ash, wanna be sure the sacrifice it's worth it:P)

To some people, even mentioning a man having a husband is shoving homosexuality in their face.
Never mind the fact that heterosexuality is shoved in our faces just about everywhere else in this game.

I think BioWare did something really evil with Steve and Kaidan.  After all these years they gave us Kaidan but kept him from the first 15 hours of the game, letting people getting attached to Steve in his absense.

I think that it might be a case of, people having their male Shepard's ready for the Kaidan romance so BW are like; "If you're impatient to have a male same-sex romance we have this guy over here". Yeah, I think it might be fear that this character development for Steve might go to waste if Kaidan is there from the get go and stays beside you for the whole game.

That is a very good point.  Steve is such a well developed character that I think there are lots of people wanting to play his romance anyway.  Like a lot of people have expressed in here, I was very surprised just how much effort they put into him.  I expected Sam to be fully developed and Steve to be an afterthought and it appears to be the other way around.  Not bad for a series that said "NO MAN GAYS!" from the begining.

As for the sex scene issue, although I think the Kaidan/Shepard scene was extremely well done and not awful and awkward like DAO, I am fine with "fade to black" scenes.  Sometimes it is better imho.  Hawke and Anders in DA2 is a good example, I loved the way it played out.

After seeing the "far shot" paragon kiss with Steve on the dance floor (I had to check out Steve's convo before continuing with Kaidan) I thought BioWare were going to be half hearted with the gay stuff, but Kaidan proved me wrong.  Maybe the difference is Kaidan is a major character and Steve isn't or maybe, just maybe, they decided to reward the patience of the fans that waited so long for what could have been in the game from day one

P.S Thanks for the XBL add!

Two DUDES, hugging!?  Kising!? No big deal?  I think you over estimate the maturity level of the average gamer this game is being aimed at ^_^

The sheets still look much better than in Liara's scene, where they tried to cover her boobs and it all looks really weird

Yes, this isn't flirting. They are discussing promotions and Shep says this and means "with promotions bed's in which you sleep (captain's bed) aren't softer"... Or at least it seems so to me. M.

Yea, so looks like Vega's the straight bro character. Like I thought.
The banter between him and Steve is pretty much played as straight guy joking with gay friend and vice versa.

Bummer.

Guess I'll rearrange my Shepard's love interests. My original Vega Shep will get Cortez and my Cortez Shep will just stick with Jack. I didn't want to give Cortez to a renegade anyway.

I always thouught of that "the bed is harder than it looks" line being a comment about how the perks of command don't outweigh the down-sides. Like what is really being said is; "the bed might be soft but it doesn't help me sleep at night", or something like that.

FemShep doesn't flirt with Vega either, until he starts flirting with her. And when she asks him if he's ever going to make good on the flirting, he gets tongue-tied. It's really cute, actually.

Seriously, I adore Vega. BioWare made this character I thought I would hate—a "bro", gung-ho, he-man, macho soldier—and then made him best pals with "the gay guy", who is himself an awesome character. Yep, in your face homophobes, your "bro" doesn't hate teh gayz, and even refers to Steve as "a good guy". They tease each other, and it's natural and normal. Best banter on the Normandy, if you ask moi.

And Vega's character model works better than I thought it would at first, he looks really good in cutscenes. I even like his hair. There's something a bit generic about Steve's character model, but he's attractive, and his personality makes up for any shortcomings in his appearance. I haven't romanced Steve with either of the Shepards I've played so far (one of them being female, so it's not an option), but the friend storyline is there and is solid. I'm going to have a hard time with my Renedouche Infiltrator and my Psycho B¡tch Soldier, I'm going to have to be assholish toward Steve. I don't know if I can do it! He's like a puppy. :crying:

Well, he's not my particularly favorite character, but they did much better with him than my first impressions let onto; Like you mentioned, a "bro" he-man and all that. He's a good guy.

And Vega's character model works better than I thought it would at first.

Vega and Anderson especially got a serious facial makeover in ME3, and are looking top-notch.

Even though I'm still not fond of the beard, if what you guys are saying about Cortez is true, then I may just have to see it for myself. I've got a spare Manshep left over from when I foolishly hoped Thane or Jacob might be available in ME2, who I've not headcannoned to romance Kaidan, plus aside from one other Femshep playtrough, I probably won't be importing into ME3, it's my only other game that's got Ash alive allowing me to hit two birds with one stone.

I'm still amazed that so many of you are lucky enough to have had enough time to finish the game by now.

Also agree with Siansonea, Vega looks way better than I thought he would.

Still disappointed about the overall replayability though since apart from one paragon Shep to Romance Kaidan and another to date Steve, I will probably only import my totally renegade Femshep sometime, just to see how a renegade playthrough plays out, but I'm kind of sad the new auto dialogue system practically eliminates any real possibility to play different Sheps in a different fashion and seems to take away the serious option of playing paragade or renegon entirely.

I had rather hoped the ME3 team would have made dialogue more like DA2 where Hawke has a personality based on your most preferred playstyle which could have made the mostly renegade player performing the occasional paragon action act and sound differently whilst doing so then a straight up paragon would performing the same action that would eventually lead to the same result.

Yeah, might as well have an option at the beginning of the game that states we want to be a paragon or renegade and remove all choice from the dialogue.

Isn't that option called "action mode"?
Or does action mode default to renedouche only?

But it is kind of sad though, I've got seven Shepards through ME2 (one down from the eight I had in part one) and they all felt like distinct characters (okay with maybe just a little headcannon by yours truly, but still) yet only three will make to ME3 in the end since there just isn't any more replayability in that game than that.
I would have liked to import my Paragade Liara romance as well but if I can't play that in a distinct fashion then I think I'll just pass and watch the Paragon Liara romance on youtube.

I was refering to the lack of choice in dialogue in the "traditional" role playing mode or the story mode. People who choose to play "action" mode deserve all the suckatude that it brings.

I seriously can't be the only person who got into the original Mass Effect game because it was an RPG set in space.

The cafe conversation is also slightly different.
Instead of planning a career, Kaidan says "I have feelings for you Shep. And I want more. I want to understand what this is between us...and make it real." To which female Shepard replies "I can't bury what you feel for anymore. And I don't want to."
Kaidan holds female Shepard's hand to his cheek and kisses her hand.
Female Shepard says that she wants to get back to the Normandy ASAP for sex.
