I was refering to the lack of choice in dialogue in the "traditional" role playing mode or the story mode. People who choose to play "action" mode deserve all the suckatude that it brings.

I seriously can't be the only person who got into the original Mass Effect game because it was an RPG set in space.

I know what you mean the Mass Effect series went from action RPG in part one to action adventure in part two to just third person shooter with some vague semblance of a story in part three.

When I first heard about Mass Effect I was like. OMG! A science-fiction RPG! Science-fiction is Awesome! RPGs are awesome! It's from the same company that made Jade Empire, that awesome! I had a nerd-gasim.

Just playing ME2. Is it just me or was Gavorn (male Turian on Omega) flirting with my male Shepard?

Am I the only one who is curious about why female Shepard gets "I love you" from Kaidan (even from the new romance), but male Shepard doesn't?

At least you get to romance the human companion from ME1. I just don't know what they were thinking here with some of these options. If that wasn't bad enough, I just learned that hetero Femsheps only get Kaidan as an option, period. It doesn't affect me personally, but it's still lousy in general.

That might depend. Is there any "I love you" in the Steve romance?

I haven't seen the entire romance, but from what I've seen, no "I love you". But like I said I haven't seen the entire romance, or all of the dialogue options, so it might be in there somewhere.

Seems like there isn't any in Steve's.
So, wonder what it is. Bias? Time restraints? They forgot? They didn't care enough? They didn't think it fit M/M romance with Shepard?

What about in the final hologram conversation on Earth?

So it was there for Steve, then?

I could understand why new romances of Kaidan didn't get an "I love you", it just the way that the character is written, but the fact that both old and new female Shepard romances get an "I love you" out of Kaidan kind-of seems to be a subtle message that while Kaidan might be bi, he gets more fulfillment from a romance with a woman.

I kind of understand why you might get a "I care you" instead of an "I love you" out of Steve, afterall it hasn't even been a year since he lost his husband.

Ah. Pretty typical of Bioware bisexual male love interests to prefer women. Alas.
I even noticed that Kaidan comments on EDI's sexy body while the M/M romance is active.

Most likely because of animations. When FemShep says that, she's sitting on Kaidan in a way/pose that's very feminine so they just cut it straight to sex scene for mShep.

So it looks like they didn't bother to make specifically M/M animations for the Kaidan M/M romance, then.

I think... I'll stick to Cortez! The romance progressed pretty quickly on my new file(Had to start over because I missed a slew of side missions, plus Kaidan romance bug annoyed me), surpisingly. I haven't even held the Krogan/Turian/Salarian summit yet and I've already hit the memorial wall with him. Just the Purgatory scene and then the romance scene, which I haven't seen yet! ~_~

I'm definitely excited, though. Hopefully everything works out. I want this play through to be... "Paaaafekuto!" (Though, given that I've still yet to see -any- of the endings... I have my reservations.)

No, and considering there's not a single romance scene that's completly unique (even Ash & Liara scenes share some animations), I'm not surpised, nor angry. It's good enough we got exclusive dialogues and they actually avoided "one of the guys gets all FemShep's animations = that guy is the weaker" thing in mShep/Kaidan sex scene. Both mShep & Kaidan share FemShep's animations so they're equal

I have mixed feelings about this myself, but I'll forgive it in THIS PARTICULAR GAME because it is the third in a series where your previous choices "matter" (some illusions were handled better than others), and I really have a hard time imagining how a Renegade or Paragon Shepard would react to many of the situations about the war that may destroy the galaxy. This game is about letting your Shepard stew in the juices s/he's been cooking for two games now.

It seems to me that adding a vast array of choices in this game would have implemented a lot of "mean" for the sake of having a mean option, a "nice" for the sake of having a nice option, whether or not the situations seemed pretty straight forward. Had this been the first game in a series, I would have hated it.

The only problem is that it pretty much gives "new" players that EA wants a distored view of what this series has been.

On a personal level, it bothers me that the only way to NOT have Liara as my BFF with many warm and fuzzy scenes is to be inhumanly cruel to her.

I'm biting the bullet and ressurecting Ash as my LI in a new import.  Just got to the unconscious hospital scene and was suprised to hear Shep give a rather generic get well soon speech...certainly nothing along the lines of "We need you...I need you" that I'm sure my mshep muttered to Kaidan (unless I was only hearing what I wanted to hear in my last playthrough :P).

It really is hard continuing this playthrough, knowing that I'll never hear those beautiful lines from Kaiden...although, guess it means I can romance Steve without being tempted away....sorry Ash.....there's something I've got to tell you...

I keep hearing the leaving earth piano score in my head during the day too...depressing...

Shepard also made a remark about EDI's voice at the Cerberus base implying he thought it was sexy and that was with Kaidan sanding right beside him.  I didn't like that <_<

It's not equal when female Shepard gets to say I love you (and Kaidan reciprocates) and male Shepard doesn't.
There are some unique animations in the cafe conversation for female Shepard as well.

You can say they were "feminine," but it remains that female Shepard has more content than male Shepard even in new romance.

No "I love you" line is disappointing but I am still happy with what we got. The romance scene and goodbye kiss on Earth say it all for me.

I mostly enjoyed the Kaidan romance, especially the last Dialogue where he grabs you and....*fans self*
But 3 things really bug me, how much of the game he's missing from( After not having him at all in two I was really looking forward to getting him back, then he's gone again not that I'd cut the hospitalization), last dialogue before he goes missing was way too short too and not indictive of anything, considering how emotional most of his other dialogue is that one comes off a bit cold. Then how little Conversations there was once it starts, even the date being kind of short, I wanted to get him a sandwich and was really hoping for a personal mission with him, not even a chat before you go to earth after the cabin. Then theres also the lack of reaction from anyone, Chakwas, Anderson, Liara or anyone never brings it up, not a OMG you're gay reaction just, yay you found some happiness or something, really hoping Chakwas would during the drink but they buchered that scene into nothing. Think it's only Javik that mentions it of all people, and even then he's refered to as a Human Soldier probably to cut on dialogue rather then Biotic or Sentinel, and even stranger he seems happy about it...if anything you'd think he'd hate the possible distraction. Still I liked his comment on the Cerberus Video about Shep "You felt real enough for me". But the ending... Wonder how he feels about more "implants".

Steve's friendship was great, It was touching at times, but he becomes incredibly quiet after the dance once you only want friendship, is it the same for romance? Did they bundle all the active conversations and mission comments into the first part of the game and just stopped bothering after? Know I said I'd play though them both to show appreciation for the inclusion but I don't think it'll be happening any time soon, not even sure I could go back to finish off my cannon shep and make those adjustments I wanted to right now.

Hmm...I do agree on the previously mentioned fact...Liara's little side glances and looks and words at the start of the game whenever I was around Kaiden......it was like..she knew. *bursts out laughing* I swear, I kept getting the vibe that she knew my Shep was crushing on Kaiden, and vice verse. Which...personally, I love that. xD

Yeah, it might've been nice to have some more commentary (like, say, Gamlen's or Leandra's lines in DA2) from some of the major characters. I'm assuming it wasn't seen as a priority to replace other Normandy barks with LI commentary.

I agree, I think a "OMG YOU'RE GAY??!?!?!!" thing might be pushing it a bit - Bioware's romances have always just focused on the characters involved. (Besides, so many people are saying they 'roleplayed a gayShep' from day one, you'd think most other characters would have picked that up in three years, or much longer if they knew Shepard from the Alliance.)
