Poor Kaiden, he finally gets his love after years of longing, we get drunk, we make passionate love and all is right in the universe and then Shep promptly throws himself into a giant frikken laser beam and Kaiden gets to walk out of the Normandy wreck alone watching Joker and EDI get it on.

This was what annoyed me alot infact. When I found out Kaidan would finally be a m/m option, I was estatic until he magically appeared safe and well on the forest moon of Endor without me. Not gonna lie, I was pretty bummed (pun not intended

But yeah the reason why I didn't choose Steve at first is because I felt like I/my Shep didn't really know him in the way that I knew Kaidan. Kaidan was there all through ME1, and for like five seconds in ME2, so I knew Kaidan more if that makes sense. When I eventually go another playthrough however, I'll try Steve. He was a decent guy after all.

When Kaiden admitted at dinner that he didn't hook up with anyone after all those years 'cause he was waiting for Shepherd is what sealed the deal.  I was like...AWWWWWWWWEEEEEE!  I had to bed him at that point.

Again you misunderstand me. Never said he should remain permnantly faithful to his dead lover, or that moving on is a bad thing...rest of it I'm not touching. You seem to understand some people are different but my opinion being different to you're makes me an awful person, this discussion is over.

@Nox: Steve is the Shuttle pilot, the eyes in the sky, it makes sense for him to be invovled in missions as much as he is, but lets not exagerate his role, it's still pretty small with many he never says anything for. Sam on the other hand is right where you load up in the normandy, highly visable and provides you with information for several missions including a key plot one leading to the end, so don't minimize her role either to seem so hard done by.

And her romance is abreviated, the shortest and least developed of any of what I would call the main romances. She gets no date scene, she gets nothing off the Normandy; hell if you romance her you miss out on the chess sequence, which is brilliant!

So yeah...while I am very happy that you finally got your man and Steve is an amazing character, the sideling of the lesbian character does not sit well with me, at all.

QFT. While having not played the Sam/Femshep romance yet, I have seen the videos and I did feel annoyed at the way it was represented. The way FemShep just jumps into the shower made me think it was more of a cheeky fling rather than a fully flegged romance, and that chess scene was amazing. Samantha, along with Garrus, are two of my Sheps bffs.

Yep, and you bed him right after that... then again... and again... and again... those "sanity checks" never get tiring. Like Kaidan said, there are benefits to that happiness.

I love how it's implied in-game though. I just wish the game had the balls to show it. :D

I don't think I've misunderstood. Our views are indeed different, but I have not told you that you are wrong or that you are an awful person. I have not been disrespectful or insulting to you, or your views. Or anyone who prefers Kaidan's romance over Cortez's, for that matter.

I've simply expressed my opinion on the matter of the comments made against Cortez, and why I feel more inclined to pursue him over Kaidan.

I apologize if there was some kind of misunderstanding.

I see some of you have commented that FINALLY we see some s/s Asari couples in the background of the game. I couldn't help but think "About time!" but it DID provide me a head-desk moment when the social worker informs the human female "father" that her daughter can FINALLY go to Thessia where she'll be safe! Yay!

Only thing is, Thessia has been overrun by Reapers like two missions ago. Ah well.

Please don't turn this into Kaidan vs. Steve thread...
I like them both and I can appreciate everyone's view. Why don't we turn this into some headcannoning? For example, after geth dreadnought mission, Steve and Shep have some "under the bed" conversation. I've turned off my game now, and I'm thinking they are somewhere on deck one hugging, embracing eachother and reviewing Shep's reports Posted Image. M.

It's strange but I found the Samantha romance quite enjoyable despite the little content of Sam outside the Normandy. Sure I wish she could have been out on the Citadel too (we could have got her a new toothbrush!) but I still think it's an okay romance.

Can't wait to get onto Steve's romance now with my Manshep. B-but Kaidan...It's just too hard to choose. >_<

Perhaps it is because I looked at her role when introduced as taking the place of EDI from ME2, wherein if you needed infodump mid mission she would give it to you. Rather, despite being a squadmate, EDI continues in this role, Joker or Cortez being the backup, with Sam barely having any in mission dialogue. I think that's my main thing about how minimal her role is. I do agree that she does give us a lot of missions, but I suppose this is just a gamer bias, instead of looking at it in universe, that side missions will just be found.

I am the same, Frozen. I don't not like Kaidan. As a matter of fact, I like him quite a bit, especially after experiencing the romance import dialogue with him on my very first playthrough(due to an import bug, but I appreciated it, nonetheless). He's a great character.

I was simply trying to express my feelings and provide a little insight in regards to Cortez being written off, and why I didn't do so. People are entitled to their preferences and opinions. I see them both as very good romance options, and would more like to see them equal. Not superior or inferior to one another.

No animosity or "Kaidan vs. Cortez" here.

Probably you have already discovered it, but I saw it mentioned some pages ago and I thought of you.

I triggered the "Are you flirting with me" line with Kaidan in the first visit at the hospital asking about his biotic powers. My femShep is paragon, romanced him in ME1 and was faithful in ME2.
I'm about to start a playthrough with a renegade Sheploo that romanced Liara in ME1, no one in ME2, and I am planning to try every dialogue option with Kaidan to see if it triggers. Are you sure he says that even to a male Shepard? I read someone was sure about it...

The "Are you flirting" line does occur with MaleShep. I got it not too long ago when I asked about his biotic powers(Or how he was doing, don't recall). This playthrough was imported, but no romances pursued in either ME1 or ME2.

I'm not sure, I don't think he says that to a Shep that romanced Liara (I didn't pay attention, my Shep was going for Liara for all three MEs). Liara romance after the LotSB is buggy though. She doesn'd remember it. M.

Well, Kaidan doesn't admit feelings at the cafe if you have another romance active, so I imagine if you romanced someone prior, you may not get the flirting line in the hospital.

How early can you reaffirm a relationship with Liara? I can understand with Tali romance Shepards because Tali isn't recruited at that point.

Thanks for the answers guys, my Sheploo romanced Liara in ME1 but in the LotSB didn't confirm the romance. I don't know if the game recognizes this, I'll discover it soon enough and I'll will let you know when I'll try Kaidan's romance :)
I hope my previous romance with Liara won't block that line, it's one of my favorite ones.

I suppose it was interesting to see, but honestly, we've been hearing about it already for the last two games. Or maybe that's the point?

You have to buy him the whiskey from the gift shop.

Then when you talk to him after that conversation, he'll accuse you of flirting with him after suggesting he's gotten better with age.

I don't mind Steve's dead husband at all. This happened months/year ago, and he never compares Shep to him once the romance starts. He really does closes that chapter thanks to Shep's help, before anything between Shep & him starts. I like both romances for various reasons but it's understandable some people prefer Steve's and some Kaidan's. That's why it's better that we have 2 options and not just 1. It's the best for me since they're both perfect for my Shep so I get 2 romances hehe >:)

Meh, I give up.

I guess you just have to play it to figure out how it's going to work (or not work). :-)
