This is why I can't see Cortez as LI. He needs a friend... a friend who's in the same page as him not some over grown ape-man with pebble sized brain. He still loves his husband and it feels like Shepard forces him to let go so he can replace Robert.
I know that issue came up before and everyone has their own opinion. To me that kind of emotional scars heal best in time, whenever wounded one feels he is ready. As every human emotion even sadness has its limit. When you hit that limit your nature will look out for ways to cure you.
Mybe. But consider this. Shep is telling to Cortez to move on and to live, fight for himself, his friends, not to get stuck in the past. Another thing. His husband died at least six months ago (ME2-ME3, when Shep is on Earth), maybe even more (attack on Ferris Fields, which happens during second act of ME2). And the Normandy ME3 mission, until act 2 (when you have the option of engaging him) must take at least a couple of months (Kaidan recovering, curing genophage etc., this takes time). So there is at least 9 months since his hubby died, maybe even more. Second, in game, you get only four dialogues with him (just to get a grip on the story; I think they actually spend quite some time talking to eachother;and with others, I think my Shep spends quite some time drinking with the doc).
Of course, this is only my point of view. I like his character, I really do, so I'm biased
