Garrus romance in ME3 is probably 2nd biggest after Liara's, but i could never romance him even if he was available for mShep, he's way too alien for me. I'm happy with what we got, our 2 m/m romances are good and among the most developed of all ME3 romances. Compared to Tali, Samantha, Diana, and of course all ME2 romances, we're lucky

I initially romanced Garrus for the lulz, lol.  Don't get me wrong, I love him as a character and a friend for my Shepards, but I didn't really take it seriously.  Playing their relationship in ME3 changed that completely.  Liara will always be my favorite though I was originally hoping for Miranda and the longshot, Kasumi.

That being said, I love Cortez and I'm totally going to make a Male Shepard to romance him when I'm done with all of my current Shepards. ^_^

I haven't romanced Sam yet, but I will when that Shepard's time comes. :)

From a strictly character interaction level, without the romance, Cortez is one of the better characters in the game. If he were a squad-mate I'd probably make him a regular. It's a shame I can't say the same for Samantha, no matter how sexy her voice is. Not that she's bad, but she hardly has the same level of character development.

Cortez made me like Vega more and vice versa. I can't accurately express how surprised and happy I was that the gay guy and the dude-bro seem to work so well together. It's a shame we didn't have them for the whole trilogy.

Is there a way to put a male body on female Shepard for XBox? I figure the romance with Garrus would be pretty gender neutral in dialog and I can always turn off the sound and read the subtitles like I do when I play late at night anyway.

When did this "most players don't romance anyone" claim/statistic/statement came from? Because I just saw stats Geoff got from Bioware for "Final Hours" app and it says there that over 70% of ME2 players who finished the game romanced someone

I've just remembered why I avoid the Kaidan thread and stick to this one. People in there talking about being "uncomfortable" with Cortez saying he had a husband. <_<

Replaying ME1 now, I couldn't help but think how much better it would have been to have Cortez in place of that guy that sells weapons to you on the Normandy.

Yeah, if not since ME1, then Cortez should've been in the franchsie since ME2 already. It feels like something's missing with no shuttle pilot and no Bay on the Normandy now that you go back to ME2

It came from when Chris Priestly got angry about all the romance topics on the Dragon Age 2 board prior to its release. He claimed only a minority do the romances, but still so many people make topics about the romances which then he said scares away people from buying the game.

haha something was telling me it would be Priestly  yeah, I'm gonna go with the stats rather than Chris who repeated several times he dislikes romances in BW games

I loved Kaidans. Basically, I never cared for the romances. Ever. Whether I was playing male shep or fem shep - none of them appealed to me. Basically I have way too many shepards who are all single. Now that there's m/m romances I tried Kaidan. Oh my gosh, they did it so well!

However, I think he's the only option. It's Kaidan or no one for me. Steve seems like he needs some therapy - even when he says he's good... it seems a little weird that he's suddenly over his husbands death 6 months later. Even if he is legitimately over his husband..I just don't think I could go there.

The others just seem too alien. Not into aliens. That leaves the human females who I have no attraction towards.

I wish they did a DLC w/ more options to talk to you romance partner. That'd be awesome. Of course, if it's included w/ actual gameplay - not just talking to your lover.

*Imagines Cortez driving and/or complaining about the Mako or the Hammerhead.*

I just realized, if Cortez WAS a character in ME1 and/or ME2, he would have been a married gay and we could have seen the whole arc of his being in love, married, widowed, and possibly finding love with Shepard.

you're aware that he does complain about the Mako?
well sort of, he and Vega have one of those 'for the fans' conversations where Steve argues pro-Hammerhead and Vega argues pro-Mako, ending with Steve claiming Vega would be one to like grizzly bears and Vega is perplexed as to why it's funny

Heh, I never thought of the fact that if Cortez was in ME1 that we could have seen his whole story, that would have been awesome.  Especially as they really could have made a deep relationship between him and Shepard.

I loved that "grizzly bears" line, I cracked up when I heard it.  Especially loved the "whoosh!" response from Vega "Huh? Why is that funny?".  One thing I don't understand is how *anyone* could say they like the Mako.  It is so painful every time I replay ME1.  Not sure how much they improved the PC version but I suppose it at least couldn't be worse than the 360 version.

Yes, maybe then the romance would feel less pushed. Or maybe even more pushed (Shep was waiting until Seve's husband dies)? I don't know. I like it the way it is, and have noticed something else - with older LIs, you get deeper interactions (and full movie in the end) because they know Shep for so long. With Cortez, you are actually in the beginning of a relationship (like, where you were with ME1 LI in the end of ME1). Just... headcannon the endings (I pretend that someone else managed to get to the Citadel, convinced Shep to shoot the kid, and both of them push the kill switch for Reapers thus diabling their shields and weapons - and then the fleet can simply destroy them)...
And I liked that converation. Although, when my Shep was with Cortez and he and Vega were havig that "damsels in distress" conversation, I would have loved something like "Khm-khm... I'm standing right here Steve!" or "That was one-time only roleplaying, Steve.". M.
p.s. Mako on the PC is horrible... you have to push W and then just slightly touch for 0,05s A or D... even so, it would do full cirles, tip over and what not... and I was never able to make it park in reverse (and I am a good driver). grrr...

I must just have really bad timing, lol.  First time I looked in there was February and there was all sorts of crap being said because of the leak stating that Kaidan was s/s.  Then I looked in there today.  Not that I am like "oh my god, I am so offended!" or anything, I am not that kind of person.  Those kinds of attitudes just irritate the **** out of me.

The Mako is awesome, y'all just can't drive. Vega's one redeeming quality is his support of that tank.

I think it's probably true what Priestly says, that most people don't play the romances. While it may also be true that 70% of people who finish the game have a romance, remember that most people don't finish the game. Pretty sure you don't write the game for those people, as a dev, of course...

I could do it pretty good. You just have to be aware that turn also accelerates, for some dumb reason.

Which means you actually have to alternate your W and your A or D.

I can bounce around with pretty good precision.

Does the Mako actually adhere to the laws of gravity in the PC version? That was one of the many horrible aspects on the 360. It's a shame the 360 version ended up being a beta version of the game and they never tried to patch the PC improvements in later. They could at least have tried to fix the godawful performance problems.

I love James but seriously he was so freaking wrong about the Mako its not even funny

also does this awnser your question (if you cant tell I think the Mako is a blight apon gaming and should be renamed "ME:drunk driving simulator" its even more pathetic when combat is ALOT easier and more rewarding to fight on foot instead of that damn thing)
