I flagged my female shep as Kaidan romanced, acted him like a jerk (all renegade options) still couldn't kill him. :/ (Probably because she didn't romanced anyone during ME2)
However I discovered "ass shot" of Kaidan for female Sheps, so will be re-playing Matt as romanced with Kaidan...
Ah also as that female shep romanced with Kelly during ME2 (which game doesn't count as a romance) I was finally be able to see her. God! Ain't she ugly and weird. Still as a f/f option I think she was better than Samantha. At least her romance didn't have scenes which requires mind bleach.

No. The physics for the vehicle is just off.Game_Fan_85 wrote...
Does the Mako actually adhere to the laws of gravity in the PC version? That was one of the many horrible aspects on the 360. It's a shame the 360 version ended up being a beta version of the game and they never tried to patch the PC improvements in later. They could at least have tried to fix the godawful performance problems.
That's not really fair. (Unless that's a picture of you falling off the cliff, in which case, you need to work on those driving skills!)Cuddlezarro wrote...

The plot worlds had invisible walls that kept you from traveling off the beaten paths. The MAKO didn't react well to them at all. It would always drive straight up and then flip out.
It's much more difficult to get her flipped on a UNC world.

I dont see how getting in the mako and watching it just launch itself into orbit has anything to do with plotwalls since its happened to me on UNC worlds as well
the thing was glitchy as hell and wonky physics are just bad *drives over a slight bump and proceeds to do a 360 in mid air* happened way to often even on the parts you was suppossed to drive
(and there are some UNC planets that require you to drive up those awful mountains to get minerals or the other fetch quest crap)

IIRC there was some bug where if your squad got in weird positions and you reentered it would start freaking out (you'd basically have to reload, since the thing would just roll around in space).Cuddlezarro wrote...

I'm not defending the UNC maps. Those were worthless and made her problems all the more apparent. But she mostly behaved for me on the plot worlds, and I never had much problem, in or out of combat.

Hahaha....wait. Scary thought seeing as my Mako always has 3 people in it which is always Shepard and a mixture of Kaidan, Garrus and Wrex.

Ah that reminds me what Vega said to my female Shep last night. According to him, Krogan males have pretty gene(?) or something. I guess Vega is gay for Krogan males. It's a good thing we don't have Grunt(he is better looking than other Krogans) in crew with him around. They can be second Tali/Garrus incident.

When did this "most players don't romance anyone" claim/statistic/statement came from? Because I just saw stats Geoff got from Bioware for "Final Hours" app and it says there that over 70% of ME2 players who finished the game romanced someone
Not sure if this has been answered yet, but:
70% of ME2 players who finished the game romanced someone, but only 50% of ME2 players actually finished the game.
Out of the *total* pool of ME2 players, it's quite possible that most players didn't actually romance anybody. I remember reading a statistic that said only half had done a romance, but now I can't find any evidence of that...

Really? Any chance of a link, that's a pretty... incredible thing to say.

I think they actually need to see percentage of romanced player in ME3. I didn't really romanced on ME2, the playthroughs I romanced ain't completed. Now with S/S options, that percentage is higher than ME2 I guess.
Also, for me, a Bioware game without romance options ain't a Bioware game.

It's a fair point to make, I suppose. Even making a separate forum for characters/romance means the relatively more rabid fans get their own section to go nuts and Mr Priestly's inquisitive newcomer can look at the General forum (pre-release, at least) without encountering the most obsessive fan behaviour.
While I do like the roleplaying options Bioware provides, from a developer standpoint it must be rather frustrating that their games are most well-known for a feature that a minority of people actually use to any great depth, to the point where it's hard to escape the image that their entire fanbase consists of people figuring out the chemical composition of Tali's sweat.

Here, here!
BioWare attitude to character development is something that fans are expecting and sometimes not only to BioWare games. I have heard from Fable fans that they were disappointed that they couldn't romance/marry the important NPCs.

I think I just did Samantha romance... if that creepy sex thing was her romance. No flirting, no mention of liking each other or any slightest pass... my female Shep watched her in what feels like a pervert old man then joined the shower... ouch. I feel for lesbian friends out there. It's horrible.
Yes, the Samantha romance is flawed and begins a little awkward, but it's starting to annoy me, that it gets always reduced to the shower scene, because the later stages are really beautiful and hardly any other video game romance has felt so real to me in the end and words like "horrible" doesn't really do it justice.
I have written a larger post with my opinion about the character and romance the other day in the character support thread.
I'm just going to quote myself:
Olive Oomph wrote...
In my opinion, with Samantha Traynor Bioware created a nice addition to the Normandy crew.
The
choice for her VA had me excited about the character for weeks prior to
the game's release and Alix Wilton Reagan really delivered.
I
think it is rather cute how as lab technician Sam is trying to deal with
front line service and life aboard a military vessel and mastering the
challenges it presents her with.
She is focused on her work and isn't
shy about getting involved and speaking up, when she's got something to
contribute. It's great that she gets to make crucial contributions to
the war effort.
She is passionate and compassionate and trying her best at becoming a part of the crew both professional and personal.
I
like her playful nature, which expresses itself in the way she
generally speaks, her interest in chess and the ease and sublety with
which she flirts.
In all of that she appears very grounded and well-adjusted and she is self assured and knows what she wants.
It
is a pity however, that we get to talk to her so little about herself
and mostly just about professional stuff, which makes sense in a way,
with a terrible war going on and all, but the romance with her lacks a
bit of real development because of it. One or two cinematic convos more,
that gives her and Shepard the chance to grow close
emotionally would have been nice, because the whole shower offer comes a little bit out of the blue.
Also
the chance to run into her on the citadel like every other LI, Allers
aside, would have been much appreciated or at least in a different part
of the Normandy like one of the observation decks.
The basic idea
of the game night is great, though hugely flawed in its execution. As I
already mentioned, the development to that scene is pretty much
non-existent. There are a few hints about her attraction to women in
general, but not in terms of a personal attraction to Shepard and vice
versa.
In the same light a few more lines of more substantial
flirting would have been needed to make the shower offer not seem so,
errm, reminiscent of porn.
What I like about the shower scene is
that it uses Sam's struggle with her rather intense needs for personal
hygiene, established early with the tootbrush convo, in light of the
limited facilities in that regard aboard the ship and her open and
assertive personality to create an opportunity for them to get together
This
idea behind the scene is great. Two mature women establishing their
mutual attraction through a bit of flirting and simply going for what
they want. I love Sam's line "I needed that!"
However the actual presentation is lacking, especially visually and as said earlier in the number of words spoken.
It
also would have been nice for people, who don't want to go that fast to
have the opportunity to get sweaty playing chess first and then have
the shower
What I really love and what eventually made me look
past the flaws mentioned earlier and really enjoy the romance is the
scene before going after TIM. It is beautifully written and just made me
melt away and the performance by both Hale and Reagan is just awesome
and really something for their demo reel.
I have seen people say,
that it is unfair, that we don't get to talk to her over the
communicator prior to the final assault, but we already have the
"goodbye talk" aboard the Normandy and I am fine with that. It's a
really nice convo and rounds out the whole romance very nicely, the
bleak ending aside.
All in all I am very thankful for that romance, although, as I have pointed out a few things could have been done better.

Bioware very successfull with romances/character development. Other companies tried that (NWN 2) but never achieved same impact as Bioware. At least for me.
I think romances also the reason why Bioware has more female players than most other gaming companies. They can mix adventure/action and emotions too well.

Bioware hasn't discovered anything new. Cinema, novels and comic books knew that from centuries/decades. Bioware just actively translates this easy trick to get the audience invested even more intostory/characters to cRPG format. And they know what they're doing.Asperius wrote...

I got the comment without doing so.
Unless of course either me or you enountered yet another of endless ME3 bugs lol
My first playthrough was a fresh non-import, playing a paragon and I got all the good Kaidan lines, including the flirting line (i saw the whiskey thinking it was going to be used with Chakwas, so that gave me a plesant surprise).
Second playthrough was NG+ to play as renegade, and I made a save, and reloaded trying all possibilities at the hospital. I did NOT get the 'flirting with me' line after making all possible dialogue choices, with and without the whiskey.

I said horrible if that was all there is to that romance. I just started it last night and after shower scene my shep went to Citadel to dump Kaidan.
Will continue game and see how it unfolds. Will share my final opinion in here.
Kaidan romance also has its flaws but I love it and I think it is the best M/M option Bioware done to date (even with m/m exclusive option Steve and re-used female/male conversations in Kaidan romance).
