Hateful!  I totally crushed on Alistair, and was thrilled about the mods so I could make Lord Graeme Cousland and he naughty aristocratic lovers.  ^_^  It was like watching "Brideshead Revisited" in Ferelden or something.  :D

Me too! My first playthrough used the "Equal Love" mod so my dashing, porn-'stached rogue noble Arturo Cousland (that's him in my forum avatar) ended up married to Alistair.

I busted out laughing when he introduced me to the people of Ferelden as "Your new queen."

And yet people complain that in ME1 when playing a modded game Shepard is constantly referred to as the opposite gender. While they find it funny when Alistair calls you his queen.

I never understood those complaints. You cracked the game and changed it to make it do something it was never meant to. You don't get to complain about your broken immersion.

My thought exactly, but the thing is, most of the times both lead characters fit to be bisexual and the only reason to have them being straight is that they are, in fact, lead characters and/or s/s is thought not to be worthy enough of the time and resources. And as you said, Gaider himself said Alistair could have perfectly been bi but he wasn't, and not because it didn't fit the character. Thank god, they didn't do it with Liara/Kaidan in ME3 and Anders/Isabella in DA2.

Alistair should have been bi, no doubt about it.  I'm pretty sure every guy that played DAO knew the truth about Alistair's character ;)  Steve Valentine played him so pefectly too, I don't like "camp" characters but Alistair had just a touch of campyness and it worked so well for the character overall.  The way Alistair became all jealous of my warden's relationship with Morrigan was so cute.  At the end of my first DAO play through(360), it said my warden stayed with Alistair as his "advisor" and that they were always together, no mention of a "queen" or children or anything.  I also liked that in DA2 the only thing that was mentioned was Alistair getting back to the castle because the warden was returning.  No queen.

I really think that all the gay fan adoration of Alistair in part led to DA2's design.  I just hope BioWare don't let the ignorant morons out there change DA3 in the LI department.  I very much doubt that the next game will be marketed to the non BioWare RPG fan though, as DA2 was so hopefully they will not be forced to make changes to avoid "scaring off potential customers" as Chris Priestly so insultingly put it.  Paraphrasing I know, but that is what I took from his anit-love interest posts.

*has seen a real life gay Alistair*

.....and he's taken....:crying:

Life is incredibly unfair. *pouts*

Hey, I laugh when my M!Shep is referred to as ma'am. lol it's not too immersion-breaking because most of the time you're called "Commander" anyway.  And when they do call me "ma'am" ... well, in my head, they don't say "yes, ma'am"... they say "yes, man."  And when they say "she" ... I blame it on some strange alien accent.  And when Jennifer Hale suddenly takes over my Shep's voice... well... um...

... I'm almost done with my modded ME1 playthrough, my M!Shep will be referred to by his manliness again in 2 and 3.

Real life Alistair, now that would be something!

I'd show you but I've told myself not to go anywhere near anything related to him.

Not thinking about him. Nope. Noseree. Not at all. He's the furthest thing from my mind...

Omg, this cannot be true! People like this doesn't exsist in RL!

Lol, that was my first thought!  Could an Alistair really exist in real life?  Nice to know it is a "yes" ;)  Now I just need to find one.  I always told my ex I'd leave him if I ever found Alistair in real life.

Interesting concept but the first visual I got when I read that was a Kaidan look-alike running down the street, chased by a horde of screaming Kaidan fans. Posted Image

I'm sure there's got to be a Kaidan doppelganger out there. I just hope his girlfriend/boyfriend/husband/wife/whatever has the patience of a saint. They're going to need it to put up with the double-takes and squees of delight.

Uneasy lies the head that wears the hair bump.  Posted Image

Look-alikes? Maybe. A bona fide Alistair/Kaidan/<insert dream romance option> in real life? Highly doubt it.

Though, I guess that's the draw to the characters to begin with. They're complex, but no where near as complex as people are in real life. They always seem almost "perfect" based on what we see and how we interact with them, when, in truth... No one's perfect. Would it be nice? Sure. Just gotta' find that person that makes you feel all warm and gushy and... Yeah.

...

I'm not really good at this. <_<

I'm trying to figure out how to unlock the hoodie outfit. Can anyone help me with this.

On my second playthrough, it was suppose to be my Steve romance, but then Kaidan started to talk and checked out Shep's a*** and yeah, looks like I'm romancing Kaidan again.

I would ask the gibbed thread since you should be able to give yourself the damn thing via save editing (consideringyou can give yourself the dlc weapons and armor)

Yeah thanks, so as a X-Box 360 user who has yet to master any type of save editing on my games, I guess the answer is; "there is no way to unlock the hoodie".

I doubt the dragon age team would allow morons dictate their storytelling, especially not with people like Gaidar on the writing team.  David delights in the tears and angst of homophobes...which is why I like the guy.  Besides, I doubt all but the most extreme homophobes wouldn't buy a game just because of s/s LI's...and even then i'd wager they were bluffing.  Personally I would think upsetting the gay/lesbian gamer population would be more significant...I was suprised (in a good way) just how many of us there really are, and how vocal we can be...especially when we want something...like Kaidan... ...or Steve...

I finished my modded ME1 playthrough on PC yesterday, then had some issues importing it into ME2, but it's all good now
Shep was referred to as a dude when TIM and Miranda talked, didn't think
too much of it, just that the ma'am-ing got fixed for ME2
it showed Kaidan as the VS in the beginning, but the trouble started when the CC came up, it didn't recognize the custom face, and later on the shuttle Miranda said the Council got killed, they still had Ashley listed as killed on Horizon, but when talking to TIM about my old crew suddenly Ashley was alive again ...

alas, I re-imported the ME1 save and now it seems to be working
never thought I'd be that happy to have Kaidan's picture on the desk
though after reading a tumblr this morning, I'm not even sure I want the continued romance ... there's a certain something to starting one in ME3 ...
but I can have that one so ofte, let's experience the continued romance ... for science ;)

I finished ME3 last night, and it was strange... I really wish to see some happy ending with Alenko...

There was a mod I installed once, which made Alistair romanceable but he would still refer to a male warden as male (not sure about the queen thing at the end, and DA:A since I've never made him king) and it was surprisingly different from the female counterpart (for a mod), as far as I recall. :D

Is it normal that my Shep spends all the time between missions lusting over Steve's ass while romancing Kaidan? lol That Shep loves Kaidan but Steve is just irresistible.

So, my Sheploo finally got to romance the man of his dreams, Kaidan. It's funny how well it fitted, because I was roleplaying him as secretly in love with Kaidan and how it made him confused enough to sleep around with like a ton of women. So when Kaidan and Shepard are having dinner together and Sheploo says, "You and me, Kaidan? Yeah, you're right. It feels right." Or something similar, well, it really felt right.

But I did feel like I went out on a limb with him, because I still wasn't sure if Kaidan really was available to my male Shepard or not and I was kind of anxtious that he'd end up all alone in the end. Kaidan even commented on EDIs new body, which filled me and my Shepard with a lot of doubt. So the final reward for all that hope, well, it was amazing. Thank you Bioware, for finally making this happen!

he was also in love with Rahna at some point, it may have been a teenage thing, or perhaps Kaidan's simply bi
in the end I don't really care about whether Kaidan is bi or makes an exception for male Shepard, because "he wants something deeper with someone he cares about"
the romance works for me and that's what counts, right? :)

Next batch of messages. I still haven't done the summit with the salarian and turian leaders, just a buncha side missions. Got to the memorial wall with Steve.

Aria: Nice work on Vosque. Glad you didn't have to get your hands dirty, Spectre.

Aria: Well it's not Sederis, but it's close enough. Eclipse is on board. Nice work.

Joker: Anytime you want me to play tag with a Cerberus cruiser, you just let me know.

Javik: I will help you, but evolve faster. Typing messages like this is an insult. (omg he's SUCH A jerk.)

Liara: This isn't at all what I assumed a Prothean would be like. He's fascinating but... I guess we'll see.

Cortez: You were right. Good to get off the Normandy and watch the ships go by for a bit.

Cortez: Thanks for coming. Don't know if I'd've been about to get through it without you there. (someone's got a crush!)

Kaidan: I'll try to do humanity proud as a Spectre. Know I've got a lot to live up to.

Yeah, an individual opinion doesn't represent the views of the whole development team. I actually agree with Mr Priestly to a large extent, it definitely makes more sense to have separate forums for character discussion and general game talk. Particularly when some of the more obsessive stuff here has painted Bioware's fans in a hugely negative light (alien sweat!).

If nothing else though, one of the major (the only?) public reason given for s/s being in ME3 was fan feedback, and this thread and its predecessors have been a part of that, however small. It's encouraging that constructive and civil discussion can actually bring about good things. I know some think it could have been done better, but baby steps are better than silence.

I definitely see it the way you do! The MShep Kaidan romance arc is very good.

Did anyone romance Liara and then switch over to Kaidan? He comments about that, saying he couldn't believe how your Shep was with her instead of him. :D

What's that famous saying; "Taken, not dead". Does that work, Shepard's taken but he isn't dead.
