And I'd rather have a positive, on topic 3-line OP than "OMGZ, it sux! Rah, I'm using the disc as a coaster, lulz!" posts. Of which we've had many more.

I'd rather have neither. Both are a reality however. And if we want to philosophize, they probably can't exist without each other and keep feeding on one another.

Mmmm..... yes your tears sustain me.

And as for a unique story.......DAO was a bad game then, because it was as cliché as any RPG I've ever played. Never mind the LOTR imitation and TW2 openly using the Joan of Arc myth....(Yes, that IS unique........not!)

Unique content is far from being everything. It's how it's presented.

A skilled writer (or director / producer) can take the most used and unoriginal thing, and potray it in a refreshing way that would still make it interesting. For instance, Saskia. Much more interesting than say...Meredith.

For when I'm on the go? Yes. And if I run out I make the closest person near me cry.

I just finished Dragon Age 2 and I must say that it's the best game I've ever played (Save for Mass Effect 2 :P).

One of the quests had me pretty creeped out too...(Without spoiling anything, it was the haunted house quest).

Looking forward to the next installment in the series.

I know, it was awesome, right? It was the best I've played except for Starcraft, Metroid Prime 2, Fallout 3, Mass Effect 2, Metroid Prime, Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect, Metroid Prime 3, Fallout: New Vegas, Dragon Age: Origin, Bioshock, Starcraft 2, Warcraft 3, Portal 2, World of Warcraft, Fallout 2, Dead Space, Portal, Fallout, Half Life, Dead Space 2
Diablo 2, Resident Evil 2, Halo Reach, Resident Evil 4, Halo 3, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood,
Knights of the Old Republic 2, Conker’s Bad Fur Day and couple of others, but you know, it's up there.

Oh, I love Saskia. (All the rather obvious Joan of Arc "borrowing" aside) I also like Meredith....until a certain event in Act III.

Meredith had her moments. (Her "If you cannot show me another way, do not brand me a tyrant!" is still one of my fave DAII quotes)

Compared to others, yes. Taking into isolation, I still see him being mostly incompetent and not that interesting (it's rather the Qunari as a whole that I find interesting).

Which in hindsight, is bleh, as she is not a tyrant, she is just insane.

Yea, a plot twist (if we can even call it that in DA2) has the potential to make everything before it either awesome, or crap.

And her Chantry is so incompetent, that I am sure we can show her another way, except Hawke is too busy doing nothing and can't be bothered to show her.

To me, the Arishok is pretty much the Qun on legs.

No, since he only represents (rather poorly I think) 1/3 of the Qunari system.

She says this to Orsino, not Hawke.

As usual when it comes to this topic, we'll have to agree to disagree, KOP.

The whole conversation in the Throne room was epic, not to mention when a certain someone comes back

I did enjoy about 2/3 of Act III. Until after Anders *Spoiler*. The rest, like past-Landsmeet DAO was a letdown though.

I took her statement to be much more general. Like an open challenge to try and think of a better system.
I did not htink she was saying this to Osrino specifically. But to anyone who would consider her a tyrant (or incompetent).

Ah the Landsmeet.........
"Tell us Warden: how will the Orlesians take our nation from us? Will they deign to send their troops, or simply issue their commands through this would be prince? How much is Fereldan blood does Orlesian gold buy these days?"

Fenris pretty much states it. When Qunari take over a city/place they gather up everyone in one place, convert ones who don't resist, kill ones that do and kill there leader to prove a point. Why the Arishok went after the nobles however is the real question.

And why didn't he take advantage of this:
"People in Hightown feel safe, not because the city's walls are impregnable, but because an invader would need to scale the stairs from Lowtown in order to reach them. Many bloody battles have been fought on those narrow stairs, and in several wars Hightown has held out for months after Lowtown was taken."

Easy answer is that Bioware continously fails to portray military situations, tactics and warfare in general adequately.
