The asari are more known for female stereotype roles, such as diplomacy, art, philosophy, dancing in bars, or bad ass action heroines (or anti-heroine). They mostly dress in dresses, or revealing outfits, or human female clothes. They are considered the beautiful race that everyone wants to screw. But considering they're monogendered, we've never really seen a less female, and more in the middle. Or a less beautiful asari. Like an overweight asari truck driver. Or a factory worker. The closest we got was the detective on Illium, who was more average. And I guess the Bartender.

But I'll quote someone from a different forum:

"If only we could have one fat asari, it would shatter this notion of pandering.

Where are you, Fat Asari? When will you answer my prayers? When will you stroll in, giant hips swishing back and forth, over nine hundred years old, b*tching at passersby to respect those older and fatter than they could ever hope to be? "

They probably mess with your minds to appear as the most attractive to each race. Look to the bachelor party dialogue at the Illium bar. If you wanted a fat asari, they would probably jsut start appearing fat to you.

I laughed harder than was necessary.

It's the future, though, with gene therapy and implants (hurr durr) and whatnot. Being in-shape (which apparently means having arms like twigs if you're a girl) is probably avaliable to everyone, at least if you've got the money. I suspect all the acne-ridden, gut-busting humans live in the smog of poorer parts of Earth.

 She's not a lady if she's not 280

In all seriousness though, I don't think this should be included in ME3.

We have a slim chance of seeing an overweight person of any race or gender, let alone Asari.

I didn't see that guy as fat. He had a chubby face, but that was about it.

It obviously comes down to just using randomly generated civilian faces and clothing on a single mesh for each race. This is why all the humans have the same body types and they all have the same animations, it's laziness in reality, but what can you do about it?

Well, there you go. Gene Therapy didn't solve everything.

Gene therapy and implants are so common that chances are if you have the money to travel to a planet in another solar system or live on the Citadel then you probably have the money to be genetically adjusted... or at least get liposuction.

Chances are the only overweight/underweight people we'll see are the extremely poor in any species. Maybe if Shepard feels like visiting some poor people you'll find them fat but I know my Shep sure doesn't have the time for that.

The Volus are the token obese race. Like one poster has already said. From ME 2 at the bachelor party, it could be that since Asari are more in tune with the physiology of other races then they appear as that person sees them.

Fat Asari belches at your graphics engine limitations.

Fat Asari eats better engines for breakfast.

Having one "fat" character is hardly promoting or pandering.

We already have that...She's called Matriarch Athena....Yep, the Asari are that beautiful. She may not be fat but she definitely is less feminine..

It's not because it's the future, it's not because it's in space, it's not because of genetic manipulation... it's because models cost resources to make...

For gameplay and budget purposes, they make 1 default model and they stick with it.

That's why like everybody in ME has almost the same height and all the guys that actually fight have 2 arms and 2 legs... for budget purposes, because they'll have to make multiple model skeletons and different sets of animations for all of those skeletons.

It's for gameplay... lore-wise, it may be considered that there are indeed fat asaris...

Though, why do you think asari function that much like humans, anyway? For all we know, asari might not deposit energy as fat... they might deposit it as breast tissue.

I guess it's ok if they make the character evil to show that it's not the kind of person you should be.

Reminds me of Zhaan in the parody episode in season 4 of FarScape where she was played by a fat dude.
