I picture her not being that enthused with seeing Shepard again.

Also on the whole teacher/kids side of the story, I'm sort of picturing her as being a little like Brock Samson from the Venture Brothers. She really cares about her kids, but that doesn't mean that messing with her won't end with you fitting into a coffee cup.

I just saw The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and it reminded me so much of Jack. But the ending was so depressing. Poor Lisbeth :(

My renegade canon told her to kill Aresh but was honestly just telling her to do what she thought was best in that situation, so it'll be a shame if that ends up being taken the wrong way by Jack. It was bad enough they couldn't be close friends in ME2, they were every bit alike (ruthless fem-vanguards, and anti-Cerberus). Nevermind the fact that said Shepard would definitely approve of her work in ME3.

Hell, my paragon canon would've killed him too. My only reason for sparing him was worrying about its "effect" on Jack.

*middle finger* you are not bioware, they can accept criticism from someone that obviously likes the game and isn't just deliberately insulting like you - they don't need a sad little fanboy (yeah I looked up your posts before I should have guessed from the dork anime avatar) hopping off on everything

Noble cause? What noble cause?

Ok, giving her clothes doesn't make her less "badass," but by the same token covering her up doesn't make her more mature. She was fine with her harness and 1/2 of a jumpsuit, the move was clearly a move to make her more pleasing to gamers that didn't like her because her appearance matched her personality and it didn't include licking Shepard's boots the first time they talk.

I agree, I think they tried to "tone her down" for ME3 because a lot of gamers prefer Tali because she worships the protagonist, and Jack pushes Shepard away. I guess a lot of gamers want escapism and need some kind of interaction with someone to drool over them and Jack didn't fit that bill.

Hopefully they didn't f**k her up too much for ME3.

I didn't say that it did make her look more mature. it just makes her look different and they are biowares characters after all. I can understand people being critical of bioware and this change in character but I don't appreciate the exageration on shinyblacklatexkitty's part.

Ah, ok I get what you're saying. I still think you're wrong, I don't see how shinyblacklatexkitty is giving that a bad name, it just sounds like you just don't like their tone.

As for the redesign, its not a better move. I prefer the harness.

When i first saw Jack concept design i fell in love with it. The only thing i'm a little worried about is how much they will change her attitude, because i fell in love with her attitude not her looks. And my opinion towards her not being homosexual; I like it. Most wemon who looks like that are quickly labeled lesbians. I'm glad Bioware went the other route and crushed that sterotype.

You guys do realize she still looks badass, it's not like she's grown out her hair to try to be be one of the "pretty" girls, her presentation of herself still has the "don't **** with me" attitude that we all love. Plus I've read minor banter with her that still sounds exactly like Jack, the attitude, the sarcasm, the humour, etc.

I think that was a joke. Also, she does have a bisexual past which threw me off a bit when I tried romancing her with femshep. When you take that into account and the fact that Bioware removed bisexual Kaidan and Ashley its not too farfetched to imagine that they would tone her down again to appease censors and critics.

All about perspective. If they're trying to tone down jack to mirror someone like Tali or Liara in ME1 then it makes a bit of sense. Taking a strong standoffish woman into a shy bumbling little girl with a god level hero worship of Shepard sounds a bit sexist to me. There's no need to have a harem of girls worshiping him, having someone who doesn't fall weak at the sight of him is good for balance, good for the story and its just who the character is.

ok yeah I was exaggerating a bit there out of annoyance I didn't actually mean that in the way you probably thought, most of my friends are straight and I'm bi :P plus yeah, I don't hate but I do think people like me are a little cooler, like anyone does .. it's just gobsmacking the words from their mouth linking dressing 'modestly' with as they say, "mature", because the rest of the world has moved on beyond that, mostly... as per the links

yeah there was a big thread about this ages ago before I left (due to the moderators javierbegazo and Stanley Woo bashing me for standing up for myself after a bunch of shippers started insulting me for saying I hated their characters):

yeah, there is the whole Mass Effect 1 controversy too when they tried semi-lesbian there, it's like in ME2 they just got scared or something

Totally, and games keep doing it again and again, they are just not even trying to mature like film has...

guardian.co.uk/technology/gamesblog/2009/jul/31/videogames-gender-balance A new study shows that females are missing from videogames, in which 85% of the characters are male, Jacob Aron, 31st July 2009 (I know I know it's the Guardian lol, but good balanced article not as shouty as me hehe)

Dmitri Williams led the research, published in the journal New Media & Society. He suggests that media under-representation can be an indicator of social inequality.

"In television, it was always a landmark moment when some minority or disenfranchised group appeared on the screen for the first time," he said. "That kind of visibility is really the first step toward leading to public consciousness and equal treatment. These cultural markers matter."

The disparity could be due to a lack of diversity in game developers. "Many have suggested that games function as crucial gatekeepers for interest in science, technology, engineering and math," said Williams. Without suitable characters to relate to, under-represented groups may be less likely to work in the games industry.

Emma Westecott, a games research fellow at the Newport School of Art, Media and Design, agrees. "The lack of opportunity for identification through role models leads to self-censorship," she said. "Many young girls simply don't see gaming as being a feasible career choice."

Although female players represent 38% of all gamers, only around 11% of developers are women. Women in Games
is an organisation intended to address the games industry's gender imbalance. Westecott, who sits on the group's steering committee, thinks that game publishers may be to be blame.

Well, a lot of the leaked script is unfinished, it was merely a draft so there's missing content and content that would'ce been changed by the time of recording. That being said I still prefer the shaved head and her harness, the new look isn't horrible though. I do take issue with the explination they gave for her redesign. I don't see it as being more mature in anyway.

fair enough. it's hard to gauge sarcasm and honesty through an internet forum. as for Jack I doubt they will change her character to suit the tali of liara romancers because... well there's liara and tali if you're into that. she's a minority love interest, sure, but it's a minority that bioware want on their side along side the rest. I, personally,  like her new hair as much as I did the old one... not sure about her clothes though.

From my viewpoint, she felt the need to change, it's not a sense of maturity or whatever, it's more a sense of calming herself a tad bit. Nothing drastic, it's more of her still trying to figure herself out, gaining a little positivity here and there helps, so I can see her just staring at the mirror and saying "**** it, why not?" It's not like it's changing her attitude, plus she's probably had many different hairstyles similar to that in the past, so it's not going to be a sign (from her persepctive) that she's changing drastically.

Anyways, off to work.
