From my viewpoint, she felt the need to change, it's not a sense of maturity or whatever

Yeah, but the thing is from there and everything else it's all tangible to the whims of writers, the problem is whatever the character reason it's tainted by *the people who are writing her* at Bioware literally calling her look "more mature"... when in fact they are acting like the children in their kneejerk statements without thinking about why they think that being afraid of what idiots think means LESS mature rather than just different. hell a lot of clubs I go to where people have lots of tats and piercings there's more people 30-40 than my age 20ish lol! (I don't post stuff like that on te internet cos there's at least 3 sad little stalkers who'll probably read this in my experience lol) the thing is they are pretty much writing off the whole culture as "immature"..

with seemingly very little thought about it or just not caring in the might of EA's juggernaut of pressure to go more and more mainstream with every game ... It's supposed to be thousands of years in the future and they are projecting their own cultural biases from the influences of religious fundamentalism in america on what *should* be at least slightly more culturally progressed humanity :( (and that's another thing, just cos Jack or anyone is assertive doesn't mean one is stupid :P) a lot of bodymod stuff still scares even me (and I've done shoots with blood), but at the same time I respect that in a devil's advocate kind fo way it is all pushing the edges of what is acceptable an what we call human and someone has to be doing that somewhere - and it's interesting to see how the future would go with that... instead it seems more like yr2000 humans with the same prejudices with funny guns with yr3000 aliens youtube.com/watch?v=bDGUhZZjYxI

I understand what your saying, but I really don't get the vibe that the writers are trying to change her to appeal to a wider audience. I still have the mindset that changing her hairstyle or covering up her body a bit isn't something just out of the blue. She uses her body and image for a defense mechanism and tries to scare people off, it works. Now there's someone who keeps pushing past that because he or she can see more in her. Now, relating to her tattoos, those to me are personal to her, they express her whole life, but the only reason she shows them is because of what I stated above. Now that Shepard has been introduced into her world and comfort zone, I believe she'll now want to keep some of it hidden away from others, while letting her barrier down around him/her because she feels safe and NOT judged upon. Also here's a quote from Courtenay Taylor about Jack's tattoos:

"The only thing I didn't love was something visual, and the Bioware guys changed before the release. Initially I wasn't mad about the leather strap across her chest - but they changed it to a regular top. I'm not puritanical at all - Jack just didn't seem like she would lead with something so sexy - she's too guarded to show that much skin even though she loves her tattoos. I felt they were for HER though, not to show off. I thought the final look was great and her tattoos were especially amazing."

About her hair as well, I'm going to use an example from my life. Basically over the summer (out of the blue) I ended up getting a mohawk and it still didn't change my attitude or anything about me, I just felt like it. That's the vibe I'm getting from Jack, where I stated in another post above.

I see what you mean, it still just bothers me the idea that thousands of years in the future, surounded by aliens, people'd still be looking down on other humans with tattoos or non-standard hairstyles but yeah, that's what people are like I guess.

I dunno tho, I mean if you have the power to rip through metal walls and rend people limb from limb you don't really need to care what people think about your fashion sense, sure there's the argument thatit might get lonely but its just like real life the people that don't judge are the only ones worth knowing anyway, it's a filter for YOU hehe. I mean I think it's a bit unrealistic to say that only shepherd would like her

Best LI in ME2 by far considering the complexity of the journey and the payoff. Really intereste in seeing what they do with her on ME3. I dig the change in look because it reflects the changes that she went in ME2(assuming people did her loyalty mission). We all change with time and I think this is rings true to Jack too.

Want to keep the hell away from spoilers, so don´t know if she´s going to be a squad member on the Normandy, but I hope that she is...

@shinyblacklatexkitty

THanks for that gallery link and the pics, I love cyber punk anything.

This is the central point I've been thinking about this whole time. Why would she feel the need to apply some sort of "normalcy" to her appearance when she was just fine with her appearance beforehand? If we're to argue that this is still the same person with a slightly different outlook on life would that have any influence on what she wears or looks like now? I'll give some credence to those in favor of the faux hawk she has now, as I've changed my hair too many times for me to count.

But the new apparel she's wearing looks like she's actually trying to be appealing on some level which is something she didn't have to do when she was wearing much less. But all of that could be ignored if her personality is intact. I only read the plot outline for her portion of the story, which I think was horrible for the character but I'm not sure if they gave her a good rationalization for it. If only goes so far as "I wanted to be good, so I'm helping out kids" then that's a flawed premise and ****** poor writing, but that's another topic altogether.

Was going through some stuff on Itunes and found this song that could summarize Jack fairly well whenever she gets too close to people.

Unkle - When Things Explode.

Ah yes, just going through itunes. Ha. Seriously though, I'm probably going to buy Binary Domain because of that song. Even when I'm 99.9% sure that game will suck.

It looks awesome from a story standpoint (If you're a true lover of Cyber Punk) and they're taking some cues from ME with their "consequence" system. I'll probably get it as well, but might wait for a price drop, as I would hate to drop 60 bucks only to hate it two hours in.

That being said, it is SEGA and they aren't too good with delivering memorable games. I think the only one they've made that I truly enjoyed was Alpha Protocol and it was made from a team that made KOTOR so maybe that had something to do with it being that good.

Ok, giving her clothes doesn't make her less "badass," but by the same token covering her up doesn't make her more mature. She was fine with her harness and 1/2 of a jumpsuit, the move was clearly a move to make her more pleasing to gamers that didn't like her because her appearance matched her personality and it didn't include licking Shepard's boots the first time they talk.

That's one way to look at it. Assuming that the CE pictures are faithful to her final design, she isn't wearing that much more than her default outfit in ME2 - all she did was add some bandages and a bolero. Her loyalty outfit concealed more, quite frankly, which is why I'm of the opinion that Jack running around with the bra straps was just another way for her to scare people off, much in the same way she emphasises her abrasiveness and (if you choose to speak to her) her criminal record.

This has to be one of the funniest mash ups of Miranda and Jack.

Mass Effect Love

My favourite part

Shepard - "knock knock...  Miranda"
Jack - "Fine, I'll hide!"

This is a bit long so bear with me.  I also have no idea how many of my opinions and statemens contradict things we know about the game.  As I said, I have kept myself in the dark on purpose.

So I admit that I haven't been focusing on the spoilers or advance news about Jack or the game in general.  However, seeing what has recently been written on the board (the past 3 or so pages) about Jack teaching kids/teenagers, I honestly can say that yes.. I can see her doing this.  But it would be in the HOW and WHY that it is possible.
Just How is she teaching?  I don't see her as the stereotypical teacher.  I can see her as more of an active hands on type of person than someone teaching a group of students in the classroom.  I can also see her as more of a "that $&!@ hurt didn't it?  Don't $&@ing do that" instead of someone who explains why a technique is done.  I've always seen her as someone who cares very deeply but hates to show it.  Every time I heard a "you think I care..." in the game I wanted to answer "Yes".  She'd be the scary/cool teacher that would probably be known for knocking some smart **** down a peg or two if they got to into themselves.  Why teach teenagers?  Because she'd probably would accidentally make the little kids cry.

Why would she teach.  Ceberus.  Someone said earlier about how she freaked on Pragia when she thought that the scientists had piggybacked onto an Aliance biotic program.  That was in my opinon all about being terrified that another child would go through what she did.  I don't know how much time takes place after the "Arrival" DLC, (I think it was 2 years?) but perhaps this is part of a plan.  Get a few of the specialists in areas where they would be of use preparing people against the Reaper threat that no one wants to admit is around.  Mass Effect 2 was primarily about getting people for the upcoming war as well as getting alliances, the Krogans, Geth, Quarians.  Who says that Miranda, Jacob, Jack and the rest aren't getting themselves in places among the humans for the same reason.

I can even picture a romanced Jack getting into an argument with Shepard about being left with a bunch of kids instead of being his backup against that Aliance Court Martial.  The argument being that she is better used helping those closest to graduation obtain their maximum potential before the Reapers arrive than getting arrested for threatening to kill the courts.

Now, you might say "but how would anyone in their right mind give JACK a teaching job.  and WHO?".  I answer to you... Anderson and the Shadow Broker.  Anderson has connections, and the Shadow Broker can probably get anyone into anywhere.  Especially in a world without hard copies of any documents.

Anyway, thanks for reading, and I hope what is written above makes a bit of sense.

That's basically how I view it, just some differences. We're basically unsure since the leak was incomplete and well, no one has played the actual game yet, so we still don't know what motives Jack has in ME3. Sure we might know one part of the layer, but I believe there's a lot more behind it then meets the eye.

As Doctor has stated, teaching isn't her only involvement as well. Jack basically represents what humanity can achieve with biotics (even though I wish she didn't go through any of it) and I believe that will have some influence towards her story as well.

I've always wondered what she'd be like if she didn't go through any of those events and if Shepard ended up meeting her randomly during his career; might be a boring encounter for both of them, lol.

I sort of think that the position at Ascension is sort of a favor from Hackett or Anderson for helping them out over the years. If the Alliance really wanted to they could throw her back in prison, but instead they give her a shot at moving on from her past.

The other thing is that I'm sort of expecting Jack to be ticked off at Shepard for getting hauled off by the Alliance. Even though he didn't get court-martialed there was still the chance that he could have been Murtock part 2. I'm not expecting Jack to cry on have Shepard promise her that he'll always come back, I am however expecting something along the lines of this:

Jack: (Punches Shepard's shoulder) If you pull **** like that again I'll kick your sorry ass from here to Omega. Get it?

Shepard: Yes m'am.

Jack: Good. (kisses Shepard) Missed you.

Shepard: I missed you too Jack.

From what I read, I wasn't content with what they wrote for her up to that point. Could they have explained the holes I saw or the lack of care they put into her story? Possibly, but its about a month and a half from now and until then its anyone's guess.

The leak doesn't cover everything. It only covers when Shepard meets Jack at *spoiler location* and the date they go on at Afterlife later on in the game.

I particularly love the date mechanic worked into the game. Earth is burning, and Shepard is out clubbing.

Technically it's shore leave on Omega. The idea is that the Normandy is docked for resupply and Jack's in town.
