Here's a video of the recently released art book and there's some concept art of everything from ME to ME3, around 3:37ish is a little glimpse of Jack with some hair - I believe it's the ME2 concept art. The ME3 one is around 4:31.

So please skip this video if you don't want to be spoiled

Also, there is a huge spoiler for ME3 around 6:00 - 6:15, so skip that if you don't want to be spoiled for ME3 (I am).

Art, more art, art!!!!!!!

Got my copy of the book today - looking at the pics of the two rejected models from ME2 (i.e. the ones with hair!), it's pretty clear that the design team decided to use them as the basis for Jack's ME3 redesign. For example, the hairdo combines the stray locks from one with the 'ponytail/shaved sides' from the other - that, and the vest jacket's returned, too.

According the designers, the whole 'near naked/shaved head' thing was to make her look super-punk, rather than 'model-pretty' to any degree. Going back to the slightly more 'conventionally attractive'* look for the softened, more mature Jack makes sense in that regard.

*because, let's face it - it's not like Jack wasn't purdy before!  Posted Image

Btw, having now seen Jack's ME3 model properly in the book, it's fair to say that while she's technically wearing more clothing, she's not shying away from controversy with her fashion sense -  I now know who's responsible for the 'partial nudity' in the game's age rating...  Posted Image

Hey guys, just got my copy of the book today as well, I'll post some
phone pictures of her ME2 concept with the hair as Richard posted
above, sorry about the quality.

*Edit, stupid 403 forbidden error*, I'll try to get it to work.

Those pictures of Jack look amazing! I'm definitely getting the book! (I was getting anyway, but now I have more reason to.)

It's definitely worth getting. I original got it just for the DLC (because I have no shame...), but there's so much gorgeous stuff in there. Between some of the paintings of the various locations and the weapons/tech concepts I'd never seen before, just, wow...

And yeah, seeing those unused versions of Jack from ME2 makes me really glad they revived the hairstyles for 3. Can't believe I've got to wait 13 days before I get to see all the new stuff in-game!  Posted Image

The Jack with the ponytail in that artbook image makes me think of Juhani from KOTOR. Which is funny considering that she was voiced by Courtany Taylor.

Here's another one from the ME3 section in the Normandy, it seems to be consisting of the squadmates from ME2, which is interesting.

Aww great! Mass Effect 3 1.0!

But BioWare said nah! Let´s go with the ME1-squad and COOL new characters like a 50,000 old guy, from species, only one of his kind and Miranda and Legion forged into a one character.

And people keep ****ing about day one dlc and glitched endings!

Now i´m more upset! :(:sick::sick::sick::sick::sick:

Sorry to be ignorant, but where did you get these from? They arn't ingame footage, so is it the art book?

Jack is an insanely underrated character who deserves more love. Few see how amazing and deep her character is. Although I didnt romance Jack because I don't see her that way but hers defiantly ranks in my top 3 (Ashley, Miranda, Jack) its so heart felt and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Yes, the art book.  It's from the ME3 section, the other two are from the ME2 section in the book.

It's been what, almost 2 years since ME2?  I'm glad to see a lot of people are still opening up to her, you don't even have to like her, but a lot of people just see her look and don't even bother to look past it.  The thread tends to stay quite since most of us went into media blackout with concerns of spoilers, haha.

Jack sort of grew on me as a character. On my first playthrough I didn't quite know what to make of her, I was playing as femshep and after her LM Shepard just gets shutdown when it comes to things to talk to her about.

After doing her romance though she really became one of my favorite characters. Jack, Miranda, and Samara being my top 3.

Here's something I recently posted elsewhere:

"I think the inclusion of her character is sort of a message on 'don't judge people too quickly.' She looks and acts extremely stand-offish but evolves into an entirely different person if you take the time to talk to her. So many people just avoid her and get her killed ASAP, which, I think, makes sense; it proves the need for such a lesson valid.

In my opinion, anyone that angers so many inarticulate people must be pretty awesome."

I have to admit, though, I don't really get people who like Miranda. To me, she's the exact opposite: a flashy, beautiful character with minimal depth. Her "only perfect because daddy made me that way" backstory is a little interesting, but I feel like she stops evolving as a character earlier than just about anyone else. Maybe I just have a hard time growing attached to that kind of cocky, "I'm beautiful and we both know it" personality. I prefer characters a little more unsure of their actions.

@Tenauri

What I like about Jack is that she's blunt, if she doesn't like something or has an opinion about it she'll come right out and say it.

Miranda runs into the same problems that Jack does, if you don't do her romance you miss out on a fair bit of her character. She's fiercely loyal to the people she cares about and will go to great lengths to keep them safe...but you need to get past the cocky operative exterior and earn her respect for that to happen and she's not exactly the easiest person to get along with.

She and Jack are a lot alike, that could be a part of the reason why they don't really get along with each other. Looking at how they grow as characters in ME3 really makes me wish that they had some interaction just to show how far they've come from ME2.

That's one thing I really hope they have in ME3 because I agree with them both being a lot alike. They just approach things differently because of their past experiences and what they've been through, yet they have similar characteristics and are both very loyal to people they care about, even if they don't want to show it because of who they are or what they represent in other people's eyes.

I'm thinking date night:

Jack: Anyone ever tell you that you have a sick sense of humor?

Shepard: Once or twice. Its a nice place though, much better than the last Purgatory I went to.

Jack: No ****, last Purgatory I went to flash-froze me. Then this weird guy picked me up and took me on a suicide mission.

Shepard: Huh, when I was there this beautiful woman trashed the place and called me a ****.

Jack: (smirks) Think I was there when that happened.

Shepard: Really? Small galaxy.
