Ok ;). I just want to avoid situation where they develop romance more by adding something like just another kiss or something like that.

Okay, I just found something out.

Turns out, Jack's romance really IS a "no-strings" thing. Ash was my LI in 1. Jack in 2. I got back with Ash, THEN went to talk to Jack at Purgatory. Same scene: Told her I still wanted her, I make the best mistakes. Then I got the Ash love scene before the Cerberus HQ mission. Then on Earth... Jack still wants to get laid.

If I had to guess, I'd say that's most likely due to a development oversight (or a bug, I suppose). I know for a fact that you can't start a new romance with anyone (well, at least not any of the women; I don't know about Cortez) after you've locked things in with Jack at Purgatory. The dialogue options simply don't come up. Heck, you can't even flirt with Samantha Traynor (which you can do if you don't have Jack locked in as your love interest yet), despite the fact that flirting with her wouldn't lead anything anyway because she's gay.

oversight. Basicly it all comes down to a the lack of jack. period. Choosing to break-up with her when you first meet her had NO effect. You can pursue another relationship before talking to her a purgatory...NO effect.

That's hardly unique to Jack. Near as I can tell almost every love interest from the previous games has several points where you can express interest or disinterest in them (on my first playthrough, for example, I had to tell Ashley twice that things between us were over so I could be free to stick with Jack for the duration of the game). Most likely, the reason why they give you multiple opportunities to do this is because they want you to be absolutely certain when you rekindle or break things off with an old love interest, since ME3's revamped romance mechanics don't allow for any, uh, "backsies" (that is to say, unlike in ME2, after a certain point in the game's overarching narrative you can neither break up with a love interest or pursue a new one).

So in Jack's case, for example, they give you the opportunity to tell her that you're no longer interested in her when you meet her at Grissom Academy, but then, at Purgatory, they give you the opportunity to say that you are still interested in case you've changed your mind. And the opposite is also true: you can say that you're interested at Grissom and that you're no longer interested at Purgatory (or you can say that you're interested at both places, or that you're not interested at both places).

I think it's better this way. Frankly - and I honestly don't intend this to come across as rude to anyone here in any way, so if it does I truly apologize in advance - I get the sense that if they did allow us to break up with her permanently the first time we meet her, it would simply feed into the notion I've seen expressed a few times here that BioWare supposedly "wants" us to break up with Jack.

Yeah your right but that's not what I meant. If you acually go through with it you'll see what I mean. Right after she puches you, you can say "we're threw" or something. she say "**** i'll burn the n7 tat off my ass later right now we gotta get my guys outta here" and RIGHT AFTER that the dialog in the entire mission is the EXACT same. Email after is the exact same. Purgatory scene is the exact same. as if you never said it. It's just a lack of dialog that SHOULD be there. Liek starting a romance with someone else, THEN go back to Jack. You shouldn't be able to do that, there should be dialog for it.

I'll have to go through with it to check, then (although that's gonna be hard; saying no to Jack at Grissom is just...damn near impossible for me). I know that her Purgatory dialogue was different in the script, more angry and passive-aggressive, if I recall correctly.

By the way, here's a crazy good bit of art I found on Tumblr that I figured you guys might be interested. It's intended to be an illustration of what happens if you have to kill Phantom Jack at the Cerberus facility. The name of the piece ("I'm Sorry") is the kicker. God.

First of all EA should give them more money. It's the best selling action rpg out there. They shouldn't have a such problem like [a] very limited budget.

^Seriously. BTW, are we sure that they limited the romances b/c of funds? Does seem a bit trivial to cut some of the richest portions of the story for "the most anticipated game of 2012' due to lack of funds. Just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Also, from the few VA's I've seen asked, it seems (strange as that may be) that they'd be eager to do more VA-ing for further add-ons. Gives me hope.

Not strange at all... Voice acting is work, work is money, lol. Also, a lot of them get attached to their characters (fact, in the case of Courtenay Taylor & Jack).

Guys look what I found in text file from the game:
"Invite Jack Up"

So there was plans to make her a squad mate and there are some leftovers.

They've scrapped so much from the game that really could have made it so much better. It's such a shame considering this is suppose to be the finale. In my mind they should have just gone all out and put as much content in there as possible.

Too bad they didn't have the funding, but like I said a kickstarter could have changed that.

It's possible it's just a left-over from ME2, where you could invite Jack to your cabin.

The hopeful cynic in me (is that even possible?) thinks that maybe all this cut stuff like "invite Jack up" might turn out to be DLC later on, instead of just left on the cutting room floor. :P

Wouldnt that be rather shoddy game designing to be using old ME 2 coding to make ME3??  I mean I understand maybe skins and palette things like the design of the Normandy but forgotten reused coding to invite Jack up the the cabin for ME2 would seem rather half assed.

Took a bit of digging, but I found it. "strict line budget". Pity. Also, too bad for the 'Samarathans' and their ONE LINE difference if they tried to romance her. That's got to feel hollow to say the least.

As per the "Invite Jack Up", squadmate? You sure? Maybe she was just on the ship at the time? You know, like in the War Room similar to Tali or something. First time I played, when I saw Hacket's (or, someone elses, I forget) ship dock w/Normandy I was CERTAIN I'd see Jack again. If I were Bioware (HINT BIOWARE. HINT), that would seem an apropos time for an encounter provided they choose to make Romance DLC.

They probably did have the funding.  The problem is that more content takes up more disc spaces, and console disc royalties become astronomically expensive beyond the second disc.  In addition, developers/publishers have to pay significant amounts of money to have a console's digital marketplace host their DLC content and distribute their patches.  Then, there are issues like disc-swapping that come with having multiple discs, and that's also a console-related issue.  So, while it may be "we're running out of money," it's also "how much is this going to cost us?"

What?  In ME2, after the suicide mission, you can call your LI up to your cabin, and you can choose to either sit with them on the couch, or cuddle with them on the bed.

I wondered why she was featured as prominently in the art book as other companions. Them saying "At the time this concept was made, it was not clear that she would be a teacher at Grissom Academy" That quote was really mysterious to me first time I read it. Mystery solved, I guess.

Wonder what the reasoning was behind the change?

Jack in the party along would Garrus again would have made your party to awesome and therefore there would have been no way for the ending we got to have taken place.
