I was looking at reference pictures of Jack's character model in ME2 and ME3. Jack's lower back tattoos in ME3 are different! In ME2, her lower back tattoos have round shapes. In ME3, they're straight, slanting lines. I wonder why they changed that?

I noticed that too. Her lower back tattoo in ME2 was, if I recall, an unknown asari family symbol (presumably, it's one of her "Why the **** not?" tattoos, not one that's meant to commemorate something specific). My guess for the change: in ME3, you can actually see part of her legs, because her pants have these big gaping holes on the sides, and it's apparent that the same tattoo patterns she has on her torso continue down her legs. Presumably, from a design standpoint it's easier to extend the "straight line" tattoos down her legs than the round shapes of her original tattoo.

(As for a No-Prize explanation that rationalizes the change from an in-story point of view: maybe she changed the tattoo because she wanted to make room for the N7? Heh)

I liked her tattoos better in ME2. Plus, the colors were more vibrant -- blues, bluer. Reds, redder.

I wasn't accepting that diagram explanation of Jack's tattoos as canon, only conceptual, especially not if her tattoos change. I'd only accept explanation from Jack herself, but we never get that. This is the good kind of "SPECULATIONS".

For anyone interested, you can see a pretty clear picture of Jack's ME3 model (and tattoos) here.

You know, I don't think I'd ever noticed those two scratch-like scars she has on her back, a few inches above her waistline.

But it's the same model, just retouched, no? So they had to make a conscious decision to change those tattoos.

She clearly have better textures, so I assume they remade them for a new model and then someone might made a mistake or 2D artist just didn't care about being precise :P.

All that remodeling and detailing, and she's not a squadmate.   The individual wrinkles of her pants, the worn etchings in the material of her boots, each metal stud in her jacket.  I wouldn't believe it if someone official told me Jack wasn't originally up for ME3 squadmate candidacy.

They did more work with her model than they did with models of squadmates. T_T But it gives me a hope. I don't think they will leave her as 2 scene minor NPC. It would be waste of resources.

Also I think that she was supposed to be Alliance solider, not a teacher.

Maybe. But I have to say that Jack being a teacher to other biotics sounds alot more realistic than that she would suddenly become an Alliance soldier. In any case, there is no real reason for her not to join with Shepard.

So we continue to hope for a DLC-fix ;)

I'm not saying that it was better or not. Just saying that it's look like it was the case. On Concept Art she has Alliance badge on her arm. She has camouflage pants. etc. and they admitted that when they designed her she wasn't supposed to be a teacher in Grissom.

If not join Shep full time, she should at least have a mission-length DLC like LotSB.

I agree there was an inordinate amount of work put into Jack's look in ME3 when she only got about 5 minutes of screen time in a 25 hour game. Until they tell us otherwise, I'm going to assume it's because they have Jack-specific DLC planned. ^_^

I hope it will be something longer. I want to have her with me until end :P. I need long time for a proper farewell with my favorite female character ever. First female companion that wasn't "dominated" by protagonist during relationship.

You know, I was kind of thinking yesterday. We know Jack is somewhat unique in ME3 in that unlike the case with most of the other love interests in the game, she and Shepard are essentially attempting what might be described as a long-distance relationship. This is presumably the rationalization behind not having an actual love scene between them, and I can understand and accept it, but I know I'm hardly alone in thinking that it would be nice to have some sort of heartfelt acknowledgment of their relationship as the game veers into its final hours and they both come closer to facing certain death. So, in keeping with the "long distance" thing. What if, in lieu of having Shepard wake up alone from the last nightmare about the boy who died on Earth, and in lieu of a proper love scene, the start of the final mission in the game featured a sequence where one of them calls the other via vidcom, and...I don't know. Perhaps they have a private conversation of some sort, something short and sweet and a little heartfelt about the tasks they have ahead of them, or about their relationship and the things they think/hope await them in the future. Something honest, just trying to close the distance with words. You could even have I Was Lost Without You (the ME3 romance theme) playing in the background as they talk, setting to the romantic mood of the scene. Maybe exchange "I love yous" (or, perhaps more likely, "I miss yous") at the end of it and...that would be it. That'd be Jack's romance scene, such as it is. I think I'd like something like that a lot, actually (perhaps even more than a proper love scene), but would you consider it satisfying? I mean, obviously, it'd be more satisfying than what we have now, but would you be willing to accept something like that in place of a love scene?

Well, I never needed "love scene" at first place (it would be cool to have it, I think, but don't miss it). My main concern was that there is so little of her in the game.

But overall your concept is nice :).

@sundown native

I like the pics you shared, especially the banner. Your drawing style is sort of traditional, like you only use pencil and ink I like that. Not many artist I run into still use only pencil and ink. Keep up the good work I really like your work.

That's what I was sort of hoping for, but knowing Jack, she's not much for words.  Though, if it was short and sweet as you mentioned, I'd be down for something like that.  It's obvious that she loves him and shows it in her own way (the only way she knows how to, obviously from her past experiences,)  "When this is over, I'm getting laid."  I'd rather have that than a love scene, as you mentioned.

Do you think that in future we will see in BW games another character like Jack? I don't mean exactly the same, but similar. You know not nice nor flattering, not easy as other BioWare girls (if we are talking about romance, not sex ;), character that need a lot of time to trust you... etc.

I'm afraid that we won't because it's seems that many players didn't liked it.

BTW. Do you know any other video game character similar to her?

Basically, yes. I believe that's how we got a romanceable Garrus after all. :P

Romancing Garrus doesnt bother me. FemShep needs some love too. Besides some of the Tali-mancers scare me more than anything. I remember the life size doll photo that was floating around when ME2 came out.

I just hope we will see someone interesting in ME4. I didn't like team in ME3. Garrus was cool, but I had real problem to choose second squadmate because all of them were "meh".

If you havent the seen the photo, its rather distrubing.

gggggaaaahhh   I feel like a need a shower after that google search.

As for the ME3 squad I have to agree. I took Garrus without a second thought, picking the second squad member normally had me sitting there wondering if there was a way I could just not select a third person at all and just tag team sniper rifles with my Turian brother.
