She's my LI on my original ParaShep...Probably the most under appreciated Squaddie in the game... Why are we so judgmental of people's personalities? Also a few questions that have been brought up: Should Jack get hair? I think yes so she can purdy up a bit b/c with Ashley, Tali, Liara, Miranda around...she needs a makeover so people can utilize her... Also, should she wear combat armor? No, not what Shepard wears...but I mean a leather armor or something...

Indeed, as a character and as a squaddie. Good thing the higher ups appreciate her.

Sadly you will probably remain disappointed. Jack doesn't "need" an Ashley-esque makeover for anything. Jack is Jack, more matured now and softened up a bit, but still Jack and still kinda punk. And standards of beauty are purely up to the individual. IMO Liara looks good even though she has tentacles for hair and magic marker eyebrows, Tali looks good even though you can't see her face, and Jack looks good even with no hair and a full body tat. Those that don't "utilize" her because she's not "purdied up" have plenty of options to choose from, and it's clear that Bioware is okay with that, even if that's the majority.

Sounds good, if they go that route. I can picture a flak jacket over her biker outfit, too, that'd be neat

I agree. I wanna see who the lookalike model was, but she was based on a concept which a lot of people around here suspected.

Lol, yeah Shep just needs enough to grab. But apparently many "fans" are obsessed with large breasts.
I am not a twelve year old, so I have long since outgrown any interest in large breasts. I actually dislike large breasts. I prefer average or small and firm. And I imagine my cannon Shep prefers the same since I'm controlling him.
(@Goat: I know you were joking, well, maybe half-joking)

And the hair thing. I LOVE a shaved head on a hot woman. I really do. My shallow side doesn't want her to look anything like Miranda. But I will accept whatever punk (or non-punk) hair they give her.

I also have to admit, I always liked pretty tatts, but not full body... not until I discovered Jack. I don't want any laser removal done to her. Part of it is because (oh no I'm revealing part of my identity on the interwebs) I'm a massage therapist. Tattoos make my work more fun and provide entertainment for me.

Not an opinion, fact. Comparitively even moreso. Just be glad we have a good source in the art director that she's still rocking the shaved head look, it's a good indicator that her attractiveness is still unconventional. It would be hypocritical to design Jack as traditionally repulsive looking as she was in ME2, only to Isabela chesticize her in the next game. Sex appeal had nothing to do with her original design and story direction, as much as I suspect ppl will disagree with exclamations of belt bras and casual sex.

You can make a point that Ashley was was previously "no nonsense" and now she's sexualized, but I'm confident that Jack's design reflects her attitude and character progression realistically and with subtledy, and based on Derek Watts' description, it seems so.

I thought the same about Ashley and Liara, but you've seen how they've grown in such a short time. Jack can receive an upgrade to keep up and they can excuse it as "well, we told you she matured". It'll annoy me greatly, since I'm already pissed off about the other girls and I don't even like them. Doesn't ruin the character for me, but will make me sigh every time it's brought up as "the reason why so and so is pure fanservice". Hard to believe that might be the worst backlash I have to look forward to.

I think this is something that most people don't understand. That everything she says is a defence mechanism to keep people away from her. And it obviously works with a lot of players, because they say: "I don't like her attitude." It's amusing for me.
You can only see the 'real' Jack in the romance scene and when she thanks Shepard for the help.

She should get a makeover in her skills though. The most powerful human biotic should have her own awesome biotic move, not a weapon upgrade. Everything else I will judge after I see her, but in the end it wont matter to me how she looks.

Shepard is awesome, but he/she can't go and fix someone who has been abused in her childhood.

actually, im kinda guilty of this too..i wouldnt say FIX but more, mellow her out. like stopping her from killing that dude in her old room, it just felt like it would only hurt her if she pulled the trigger.

on a sidenote, whats the general opinion on if jack and miranda hooked up? they kinda gave me that foe-yay vibe. like theyd end up having angry make-up sex and...

Hellbound555, I expect to see a softer side of Jack, but I will be dissapointed if her general attitude changes. In my opinion it's just not possible to overcome trust issues after such a traumatic childhood in 6 months. Maybe in 5 years or never.

Softer side for Shepard, when they are alone, but everyone else gets the all powerful biotic ****.

oh ya, 6 months is divine intervention, and thats just trust issues. Kelly mentioned intimacy issues as well, how she pushed people back but treated sex so casually. I never really romanced Jack now to think of it so i cant really say anything more about that avenue of her character.

I paragoned Jack with everything I had in my main playthroughs....

I find it extremely troubling when people say that Jack needs to be "prettied up" or "fixed" just so people can "utilize her". I'm aware she is not a real person, but suggesting a woman's personality and her identity be erased to "appeal to the menz" is just very problematic altogether.

Not to mention if they make her wise and kind and mellow in ME3 it will be an incredibly crappy thing to do because it also trivializes what she's gone through. I hate "Rape as Backstory" and "Abuse as Backstory" tropes, but I liked Jack because you could see how she was affected by her past. Just turning her into a shiny happy person because she found love in her big burly hunk of dudeShep is... very skeevy.

Let's hope Bioware keep being awesome and handle the character with respect she deserves.
