I might not remember but do we ever figure out where she got "Jack" from? Cause she is Subject zero in the facility. does she pick her own name? Why Jack?
I'm gonna go with her name coming from the slang "Jack", meaning nothing/zero - "Subject Zero".
Oh, yeah, almost forgot that Jack is a slang term for zero. Since Jacqueline Nought also reference the nothing/zero thing in the sourname (french), I bet that's where "Jack" comes from.

Hmmm I just facepalmed myself. But do you really think she would want the constant reminder of that? Bioware did it so the big reveal she was a chick would be like "WHOA"

"Jack" is what they called her at Pragia (you can see one of the researchers referring to her by that name in one of the video logs). Why they called her that is not particularly clear, but I presume she stuck with the name because it was the only one she'd known (or remembered, rather) up to that point.
True. One of the lead scientists yells something like "Jack must be kept alive!" in the records you hear on Pragia. So I suppose they started call her like simply because it was the slang for "zero". She probably perceived that as her name, no matter how cruel was the fact that they give it to her, and decided to use it for her own purpose.

This is a picture I commissioned from AlyonaMaksimova. Jackolytes didn't get a private scene with Jack. I wanted to see something like this, where Jack expresses her emotions to Shepard without worrying about having an audience. She's supposed to look worried, with a mix of longing. She doesn't want to leave, and she doesn't want Shepard to go, because he might get himself killed on Earth.

Thanks, really. I'm sure a lot of Jackolytes wanted some kind of "private scene". Very nice touch to add some worried look on her face, because a simple sugar-free romance scene would never fit Jack. Great work.

EDIT: also, still hoping for a LotSB-like DLC to add something like that! Hope never dies.

You know what I would absolutely love to see? Some "happy" Jack/Shepard art. Somebody on Tumblr once pointed that quite a lot of art featuring them has something of a melancholy bend to it, and from what little I've seen, I think it may be true. I'd love to see something that was a little more upbeat, maybe something that featured them being playful or sexy together. One of the things I love most about Jack's ME3 romance is that it's one of the few (maybe the only one) in that game that seems to be almost completely cheerful and positive. There aren't any of those moments or discussions tinged with dread, about how maybe one of them won't survive, or about how they might lose the war, or what have you. And sure, you could say that the relative meagerness of content featuring Jack in the game has a lot to do with that, but I still think it's something worth contemplating and latching onto. Even the moments that you'd think would be a bit more sobering (like when Jack and Shepard discuss whether or not to break up in Purgatory, or when they're saying goodbye on Earth) are handled with a lot of levelheadedness and lightheartedness.
The way I choose to think of it is that it's almost as if Jack and Shepard have a kind of zen, businesslike attitude towards their relationship. They seem very confident in each other, so there's no place or need for anxiety. Past the initial tension when meeting at Grissom Academy, Jack's romance arc features almost nothing but her and Shepard being playful, flirtatious and warm towards to each other, and that, I think, is really nice. I mean, people in relationships are supposed to be happy, yes? It'd be good to see some of that reflected in art.

I have two ideas for happier Jack & Shepard pictures. They'd be only sketches, but if they're done, they should lighten things up a little.

So it's nothing really Jack-related, or even romance-related, so far as we know. But still. I think it's nice to know that Shepard will apparently have some new dialogue. Makes the possibility of a "Shepard and love interest" reunion seem at least a teeny, tiny bit more likely.

Also, completely unrelated, but I suddenly feel compelled to note that Mark Meer mentioned on Twitter the other day that he's back in the recording booth for ME3 content. One presumes it's for the Extended Cut.

I am unimpressed, and I remain pessimistic. The VAs of several ME1/ME3 squadmates have mentioned that they're returning to the booth to record more lines. Courtenay Taylor said that she can't comment on whether she'll be returning to record more lines. This indicates to me that she will not be returning to record more lines, nor will the VAs of any of the new ME2 LIs. And my tinfoil hat tells me that this is Bioware keeping her quiet, in a way, so that people won't generate negativity about the EC before it's even released.

It's sad, but while I'm sure the Extended Cut will provide lots of good content, I'm being a little bit pessimistic too when it comes to ME2 squadmates. Every VA from ME3 squadmates have already confirmed, why there is absolutely nothing being heard about ME2 VAs? Probably BioWare is working with a low budget again (after all this DLC was not even planned) and decided that the first thing to cut out (again!) would be the ME2 squadmates.
The best we can expect from the Extended Cut is to see Jack fighting during Priority: Earth while we're rushing to the conduit (along her students), and (but this is much unlikely) probably a reunion without lines. But this is being very, very optimistic.

Jack would probably like the Striker. All that noise, all that destruction. I can see her using it and grinning, maybe some humorous hip thrusts while she fires it.
heh just like a krogan, now all we need is some artist to make it happen.
which reminds me idk how i forgot to mention it before but that Jack/Shep picture is all kinds of win on so many levels. i feel like i should quote myself...
