Was looking at the survey data on the German website that conducted the ME3 survey. Going in to ME3, Jack was romanced less than people who romanced no one. Thane, the same. And Jacob, well, he didn't even register on the survey. Guess that would explain why those three got so little ME3 content, if Bioware gathered data from players circa ME2.
That doesn't mean that they will not recognize the potential of Jack as a character. Maybe she's not popular amongst LIs, but she was restyled and developed much for only 5 minutes of screentime. We can legitimately expect something involving her because of her sheer potential, and if something involves her, that something will add screentime to those who romanced her. I'll still have faith.
EDIT: also, let me say that is a little bit depressing to see how people are predictable. Tali and Liara, the most popular LIs, were designed to be cute, shy damsell-in-distress with attractive bodies. Don't get me wrong, I respect Liara and Tali as characters (Tali in ME2 has quite the development) and I'm not saying people who romanced them were all looking for a waifu-pillow, but when it comes to romances they're like the perfect nerdbait and the fact that they have such huge numbers does not picture gamers well.

Her redesign doesn't necessarily indicate that she'll be getting more material. As we know, Jack was redesigned first, and her relevance to the plot was written after, even late in the game's development. The redesign came before they decided what she would be doing in ME3. It just so happens that because it works that Jack wouldn't compromise her sense of fashion for her teaching job, it also fits.
As long as she appeared at all, and the people in charge were happy (enough) with what she got, the redesign was technically worth it.
I remain pessimistic.

Yes, I read the Artbook and I know they redesigned her even before the Grissom Accademy was included in Mass Effect 3.
But Jack do have a lot of potential as a character. The only character that have less screentime than her are Jacob and Thane, and they both have valid reason to not have that much role (Thane is dying, Jacob is just a soldier without any knowledge about Cerberus anymore).
Jack is one of the most freakin powerful biotic in the Galaxy, have a mysterious past, and has been epic every single time she's been on-screen. I simply hope BioWare will give her a chance, dammit.

I can't stand characters like Liara who are meant to be the perfect LI or "nerdbait" as you put it, they are just so boring. The thing that drew me to Jack the most was her personality and character, she is strong willed, independant and hilarious with my renegade shep, and when you get to really know her as you enter into a relationship you find so much more as well.
Plus you know she's damn hot, jussayin.

Jack on the the other hand is not someone who is just going to "jump into your arms" for a real relationship..you have to work at it with her and given her history it makes sense. I thought she as the most in-depth character out of the lot of em. I also thought she had the most emotional Romance scene in ME2..But i'm figuring that people were put off by the way she looks and her in your face attitude. *shrug* Its their loss really.

My exact position everytime the fact that Jack isn't popular as Liara, Tali or even Miranda comes out.
There are few things in videogames that I consider perfect. Jack is amongst those things. Playing ME2 for the first time actually changed my point of view about a lot of things, mostly because of her flawless character art/romance and if people cannot see all of this, they're losing a lot of the ME2 experience IMO.
(And sorry if I repeat myself, but what a hell of an experience is playing ME2 with Jack as your LI and the rest of that awesome "crew of the lost" by your side. ME2 has no match.)

This is a picture I commissioned from AlyonaMaksimova. Jackolytes didn't get a private scene with Jack. I wanted to see something like this, where Jack expresses her emotions to Shepard without worrying about having an audience. She's supposed to look worried, with a mix of longing. She doesn't want to leave, and she doesn't want Shepard to go, because he might get himself killed on Earth.
now that i think about it somebody should really make a short clip of this with the ME3 LI theme "I Was Lost Without You" in the background^_^

where as in ME2 Bioware kinda shakes up your world by saying "Hey your not the invincible hero you thought you were, you know why cause you kinda die in the first 5 minutes of the game" and now that your back you need to fight for the lost causes of the galaxy cause no one else can be bothered. and Jack is in the middle of being one of lost causes written off that you can help and prove theres still someone in there worth fighting for

Kinda makes you (or well, me, at least) think. They say the opposite of love isn't hate, but indifference, and Jack is definitely not indifferent towards Rodríguez. She seems to pick on her kind of a lot, but she also seems to be very mindful and protective of her. Thinking it over a bit, I kinda really like the idea that maybe Rodríguez is sort of like Jack's little teacher's pet (while Prangley appears to be her star student), someone Jack may want to protect and push to succeed. And maybe Rodríguez kinda looks up to Jack, enough that she wants to emulate her appearance within the boundaries that the Alliance's military regulations will allow. Hence the similar hairstyle.
It's just a thought. But the more I think about it, the more I wish Jack's dynamics with her students (the individual students, especially, as opposed to the students as a group) could be explored a bit more.

Despite her scars and ink, Jack has some immaculate skin, and not in a lotion-in-the-bucket way. And her skin is so pale, it practically glows. I think that's very pretty. Lastly, Jack has a deceptively cute button nose, and it's even cuter because it's slightly darker than the rest of her face.
I've been trying to convince my girlfriend to do her hair like Jack's in ME3. She has one side shaved but leaves a layer longer so it can either cover the shaved bit or show it off, so I'm like "you should shave both sides and around the back). She has quite similar facial features and also similar skin, if she cut her hair that way she'd actually look quite a lot like Jack. When I showed her a picture of Jack saying "your hair is sort of like this, you could make it the same, that character actually reminds me of you", she did say "she's hot for a video game character", so maybe I can make it happen hahaha.
She actually reminds me of Jack personality wise too. Maybe that's why I love the character so much.

I remember hearing claims that Jack doesn't belong in the ME setting. I think that's a fairly interesting point, but ultimately I think it has no weight to it, because the ME games undergo a significant shift in attitude, atmosphere and aesthetic from ME1 to ME2. In ME2, she really does fit in to that grittier feeling.
Mass Effect 2's concept were "Fight for the Lost", and there's no one in the amazing ME2 crew that is more a "lost soul" than Jack herself. I think not only she belong to that setting, she practically owns it. People like Kaidan and Liara actually weren't fit for the atmosphere of ME2, and so they were put aside.
(also, she evolved during the games, so she actually fit even the more "let's all stand together" attitude of ME3)
ME1? Yes, that was a little bit more straight-forward and "Journey of the Hero" kind of game. It was beautiful in his kind of "simple epicness", but offcourse character development was toned down. Saren were developed more than Shperad, actually, while ME2 it's all for the deep of characters. Jack is a very deep character, so she need the ME2 setting, but that doesn't mean she's not fit for the ME Universe as a whole.

I don't really want to get into it again, but one thing I'm really hoping for, is the more emotional aspect of their relationship. I highly doubt it's going to be included in something like the EC, but I'm still trying to stay in some form of positive light.
There's a possibility that something like that is exactly what we can hope for in the EC. If ME2 LIs will be included in any capacity, it will be in the flashback (Liara in that flashback is quite obviously an error, I think BioWare already noticed that) and possibily when showing the aftermaths of your choice. It's the much hyped "reunion" everybody keeps wishing for. If the reunion is there, we will have our deep emotional scene with Jack. If it's not, then at the very least we can hope for a black-and-white still in that flashback, or Jack visiting Shepard's memorial.

You know, this isn't really related to the topic at hand, but while watching Grissom Academy mission videos earlier I noticed that Rodríguez's hair is styled very similarly to Jack's, barring the shaved sides and back. She's got dark hair bound up in a ponytail, and four individual hair strands running over the right side of her forehead, with a lone hair strand running over the left.

I like your theory about Rodriguez. I can totally see Jack caring more about her than the others for the simple reason that she looks very vurnerable. It fits perfectly the "new Jack" we see in ME3, and in doing so Jack will "do the Shepard" and help who's more in need.

somebody awhile ago made the comparison that Prangley and Rodriguez were like miniature versions Shepard and Jack, respectively. Without Jack at Grissom Academy i hear Prangley assumes the role of leardership and Rodriguez is alot more vulnerable and uncertain about their chances. and when Prangley dies shes forced to grew up faster to survive then if she had some kind of support to guide her.
not to mention when you go throught reading the Cerberus reports scattered all over the academy you learn that if you hadnt got there in time Rodriguez would end up with the same fate as Jack, turned into a Phantom.

Rodriguez must have a lot of natural biotic potential, she just doesn't know how to use it.
