LOL. To be honest I don't know why even Liara cares about Jack's past. Unless she was jelly.

Was creepy of her to be poking around like that about Shepard's friends' past, I think.

Maybe she was jelly.

It'd be more understandable to me if Shepard cheated on Liara with Jack. Some sort of sense, I don't know.

That's just one way of seeing it.

Also, jelly? I know what you mean, but I didn't know it was a real thing. Heh.

Depending on Jack's mood Liara could be literal jelly.

Depending on who you ask, they might say she's jelly even if Shepard romanced no one in ME1, Jack in ME2, and Jack in ME3.  Liara really does seem to like the Commander.

Or if they had shown that Liara had been collecting info on everyone which I'm sure she has been, just to show what someone with the power and resources of being the Shadow Broker does with there time. But I suppose that would never fly, Liara becoming unscrupulous.

Shepard probably called it. Or at least foreshadowed it. There was that dialog action where he'd ask if she'd become a creepy recluse with info on everyone everywhere.

Now that I realize this, randomly bringing up Jack's real name kind of bordered on it.

See now, I've only got two canon Shepards. The one who romanced Jack -- James -- canonically picked up Liara after completing every other mission; until she became the last lead.

How someone can just like a person in such short time is truly beyond me, man. Especially when said person threatens to "Drop your ass back in that volcano."

Liara admits in LOTSB that she pursued knowledge for knowledge's sake. She doesn't really do much with what she knows as the Shadow Broker beyond creeping on Shepard and the team. It might also be Bioware invoking the Reed Richards is Useless trope too, after all if Liara could just "Shadow Broker" intel that Cerberus was planning a coup or that the key to finding the Catalyst was sitting on Thessia the whole time then the story wouldn't be that interesting.

Although I can't really picture Jack being all that interested in finding out who her parents were or what her given name was she's never been Jennifer and it's not like she's going to start being her anytime soon. Besides Jacqueline Nought is a pretty awesome alias.

lol Liara using the Shadow Brokers network to spy on Shepard and the Crew is like a poor mans version of Batman's archives on every superhero. come to think of it the old shadow broker spied on TIM and knew what he did in his spare time so i think being a creep just comes with the job....on second thought if the old broker could learn that match how the hell did Liara screw up smh

Hey, I started debating someone about something Jack-related in the wrong thread, so I thought I'd ask you all. Read this article first:
http://www.1up.com/n...m-mass-effect-2

I tend to agree with this article, that in ME2, Jack's story is written such that she really gets no character growth unless you romance her. I mean, she likes Shep at the end, but she still hates the world, so it's a terrible arc. What do you all think?

Notice, I'm not hating on Jack, I think she's a cool character, and she does get excellent character growth in ME3, I'm simply saying that her non-romance story is done badly in ME2. I think her arc should have been done better.

She solve her problems during the six months gap between ME2 and ME3 even if you do not romance her. She is a strong woman that will eventually become the relaxed, "happy" Jack we see in ME3 regardless of Shepard intervention.

Shepard romance with her is all about fighting together the demons of the past, but it's not necessary for her to find a man to solver her problems. She can do it by herself. And by the way we must consider that Shepard is a very charismatic person, a true iconic leader that always inspires the people that work with him/her.

EDIT: we can also assume FemShep presence had a very positive impact on Jack, and that's why she solve her problems between ME2 and ME3 even if you don't or can't romance her.

*sigh*  This again.:alien:

I suppose it is odd that fem shep *or a just-friends BroShep* can't help Jack with her lifelong problems just by being a pal.  Oh wait... no... it's not at all odd. It actually fits right into Jack's character of keeping everyone she can as far away as possible prior to ME2.  It's not a 'magic Penis' it's the fact that you have to be dedicated to someone with that bad of a life experiance to make a connection.  New flash, Sexual Happiness is a big part of people's overall happiness. Quit denying it.

Well, no, if I'm wrong, tell me how.  I like Jack, I just don't think the storyline written for her was very good.

Does that make sense?  It's kind of how I don't like a lot of Ash's ME3 dialogue.  Love both characters, not a fan of how they were used.

If I'm wrong, tell me, because I'd love to enjoy her arc.
