I would be pretty pissed if Jack died no matter what, or like spiros said, if I had to make a choice between her and X number of innocent people.

I was annoyed by DA2, when I took Bethany to the Deep Roads because she was my primary mage and healer... Varric started talking about "if we only knew..." and Bethany ends up tainted by the darkspawn, no matter what you do. I didn't have Anders with me, because I hate that guy, and I only need one mage in my party... so Bethany died. I reloaded a save and left her behind when I went to the Deep Roads again.

And I guarantee if something like that happens to Jack, I will reload a save and leave her on the Normandy or wherever she is hanging out in ME3. If she dies or some stupid mistake I make, like letting her lead a fire team or something, then I'm OK with that, because it was my fault. Scripted deaths like Bethany's can F-off.

Jack has the crappiest life imaginable, and killing her off would just be insult added to injury... a punch to the gut of everyone who ever cared about the character... us JackASes, Courtenay Taylor, everyone. She deserves a chance at a normal life and if she doesn't get one, I'll be pissed.

Hey guys,

It's been a long time since I visited the forums! Been away, sewing my royal oats as it were.......hehe.

Anyway, I had quite the flattering request to edit the thread name and include a Jack quote or something from a very polite and sweet-mannered idoless24, who claimed there was support for such a measure. Anyone got any suggestions for some suitably savoury quotes to use?

Good Luck and Stay Safe B)

That has been a concern of mine....Jack being scripted to die regardless of your Choices
and I'm sure it would be a extremely emotional scene...
but yes that would actually really ****** me off mainly because I have grown very attached to Jacks character and her depth and something like that happening would make me feel cheated

Personally my shep would demand Garrus and Zaeed suit up, load up one of the shuttles with explosives, and go for a Suicide run on the nearest reaper.....

That, the part in bold, is exactly why I feel it's inevitable.  Given the fact that this the last part they'll turn to deaths to have dramatic/tear jerker scenes as I feel the writers aren't up to doing it any other way.  (given the missteps and horrible storyline in me2)

And they keep hinting that in ME3 people will die, ME3 will contain tear jerkers and etc.  I came across something I can't remember where I saw/read/heard it or everything to it.  But said that Jack was suffering from some type of degradation in her head, so I think she's going to be dying from something in ME3 then sacrifice herself.  I start looking around to see if I can find it.

I remeber reading about the mental degragation as well..I bealive it was mentioned in the L-5 implants for her something about as her mind degenerates as her power increases

I mean I get that in mass effect 3 people are going to die in every game there was always the possiblitly of loseing people Me1 Wrex, Ashely, kaiden and in me2....everyone on the team
so that would make sense
i do remeber bioware saying that people could die regardless of the choices you make and that would just be bs
but honestly at this point im takeing what Bioware hints at with a grain of salt becuase they always do this before a game giveing us tiny hints designed to drive us absolutly crazy......

@spiros and kingnothing
if were given a choice like that I'm picking Jack every time.... regardless of the moral implications..
just like I backed Zaeed and his play... my Shep needs Jack... and if he has to lose a few planets...oh well

I think Jack would more or less still believe that Shepard would still save someone else instead of her because of her trust issues, more specifically her mindset towards death, "You ever see me flinch? It's like a fvcking on and off switch" (I know that's not exactly it, but it's my favourite line from her).  This is why I'm really curious as to how Shepard can influence her through the events of ME2 and whatever happens in the last installment.  A lot of stuff can go down, especially if she's not romanced and other instances.

I'm still undecided about the whole topic though, so I don't know how much I'll contribute towards it.

You probably should post spoilers for Dragon Age on the Mass Effect boards, you cant assume everyone's played it. Anyway, that situation you mentioned wasn't "No matter what" it was just one of three possible outcomes. If someone is guaranteed to die because of the actions I've taken, regardless of how much I may like the character, I'm fine with that. I simply don't want another Virmire situation, where its an on the spot static choice, where someone has to die.

@ Slurm

The plan was to include the phrase "Hello, dead people" into the thread title.

Did anyone find it hilarious when Jack said that line to husks? I remember she said the usual line at some point on one of my games on the Long Walk and it took me a second to realize that she wasn't talking specifically about them. I'm not sure why I didn't notice it before that scene. I suppose I never took her to many places with them before.

It's from the "Subject Zero Power Boost" upgrade you can research.

"Jack's vital signs show progressive neural degeneration, which would
normally decrease her potential ability to generate mass effect fields.
Instead, her ability appears to be increasing. Replacing the power
module in her bio-amp with a higher-capacity prototype module would
dramatically increase the strength of Jack's biotics.

I've been away from the forums for a while, and I probably still will be. But I'm just popping in to say hi, and to say I will be back again. I'll at least lurk when I can.
As for the thread name change/upgrade, I'm cool with whatever as long as it isn't "The Talimancer Appreciation Society"  (and yes, I meant "Talimancer" not "Tali", because I wanted it to sound ridiculous:alien:).

Hey guys,

Hmm little confused here, do you want the thread title to be just "Hello dead people!" or '"Hello dead people!": The Jack appreciation Society' or I also read '"Hello dead people": For love of our Jack' or something along those lines. Which is it folks?

Progressive Neural Degeneration?

Why the heck can't we ask Mordin or Chakwas about this? What does that mean for Jack long term?

Hello Dead People: The Hijack Appreciation Society.

Get it? Cause she hijacked a space station and... yeah, ok.

Hello Dead People: The Jack Appreciation Society Sounds fine to me.

@GeneralSlotts193

Yeah, I like that suggestion. Very well, I shall put forth the title:

'"Hello dead people!": The Jackolyte Society'

You may vote yay or nay.

I shall return in a bit......perhaps a couple of hours....maybe three hours to inspect the results. Thats around bedtime here in the UK. Not sure about North America.... it'll be teatime, I'm guessing? Six o' clockish?

Anyway, I strongly suggest as many people to participate, otherwise the outcome will be decided by one or two votes or something....and don't come crawling back and start complaining to me afterwards that you don't like the title, because you had your chance to vote!

I vote yay for '"Hello dead people!": The Jackolyte Society'.

But I won't throw a hissy fit over the results because I also like '"Hello Dead People!": The Jack Appreciation Society'. And as long as the title shows Jack love I'm good.

I do think it best to include the exclamation point at the end of the quote though (since Jack yells it in-game... or sort of yells it?... hmm, maybe she doesn't... it's been a while).

I vote YAY! for referring to ourselves as Jackolyte's in the title. The quote is great, too, but I'm open to other ideas.
