So after reading the Mass Effect: Conviction comic that sets up James Vega's character, I noticed that in the last panel Shepard is in handcuffs in the brig. From the looks of things it doesn't seem like this trial is going to go very well.

Shepard: It's only for a few days.

Jack: Your buddy Hackett is taking the ship and hauling your ass to Earth to go stand trial infront of a bunch of ****ing politicians. I should be there in case something goes wrong.

Shepard: Jack...

Jack: I get it you don't want them to throw me into some hellhole like Purgatory, but if anything goes wrong-

Shepard: It isn't.

Jack: Do you have to be so ****ing positive all the time?

Shepard: Part of my weirdness Jack, I thought you liked that?

Jack: Sometimes its a pain in the ass. (sighs) Look, be careful and if you go and die on me I'll kill you.

Shepard: Will do.

I could sort of see Kaiden and Jack getting along, or at least talking shop about biotics.

"Good Alliance boy" Kaidan isn't the type of person with whom Jack would easily get along. She's cynical, whereas Kaidan has a idealistic trait to him. Despite all, I think Kaidan would in the long run impress her. He is not easily made angry and not as judgemental as most, and therefore has good chances of seeing beyong Jack's "psychopatic killer" facade.

Kaidan himself has killed on an instinct, he knows how brutal biotic training can change or form people. Out of all people he's the likeliest one to understand what Jack went through. Second similarity: Both of them don't like being pitied because of their past.

Really, I would love to see real squad banter between them in ME3.

I like that, that's what I'm sort of expecting prior to the trial.

What I'm going to be interested to see is how Jack responds to the Alliance squadmates. Based on what we see of James Vega in Conviction I could see him and Jack getting along pretty well.

I agree, but I can still see her judging him because of beign Alliance, but then getting to like him.  He has this vibe that he isn't proud of what he's done in his past.  Which can probably lead to some suprising actions on his part (taking on "X" # of Batarians in the middle of Omega lol), which Jack might be impressed with.

Outstanding, as always. One thing this brings to mind though is the hope that we'll, in fact, get a moment like this with our respective Love Interests prior to the Trial, and that the game doesn't start with just some cinematic showing the Trial/Character creation/confirmation (ala ME3) and then BAM, Reapers. I can't imagine Jack, Tali, etc wouldn't somehow, even if Shepard asks them not to, be close by to help him if **** got real.

Can you imagine Jack trying to share some of her poetry with Shepard? Considering my Shepard just sort of boggled whenever Ashley tried to get poetic with him, I can only imagine his stuttered, "er...yeah, that's uh...wow, really great, Jack!"

regarding squad banter comments from the last 2 or so pages..i dont think Jack would "warm up" to anybody. She's Jack, distance makes her feel safe.

That's the thing though, I believe she'll actually be less annoyed while be around certain squadmates in ME3, then in ME2.  She'll still have that distance factor or defensive posture sort of speak, but will try to be more comfortable around people, though it won't happen right away either.

Yea i just reading lol and jack seen to be embrassed to be around Shepard and seen like she wants no affection from him whatsoever, lol i remember jack coming up to him at the end of me2 and giving in, lol Dr.Doctor can u write one without her been mean to shepard just once please

I actually expect all the characters to change to some degree or another in ME3.  It may be posted in this very thread, but I seem to recall Casey saying that Jack would react to Shepard depending on how Shep treated her.  If that's the case, my broShep is in trouble.  My femshep on the other hand treated her quite well, in a "mother/troubled teenage daughter" sort of way. 

I know I'm a little late on this but I noticed how you mentioned the difference between your Shepards vs gender. I have the same type of issue in that my female Shepard never really took to Jack but my male Shepard really liked her. Not romantically but in a playful kind of way. He bought her flowers on the Citadel teasingly and while he could tell that she liked it, she also told him what a d**k he was and beat him with them. She brings out the big kid in him. Odd.

I am going to be re-playing my femshep and I am hoping (fingers crossed) that she can somehow connect with Jack. That has been a struggle for me.

On the romance front I get the feeling that being in a relationship with Jack is sort of like having a cat. There's times where they want to be close to you and other times where they just want you to leave them alone.

Jack: (walks in and wraps her arms around Shepard)

Shepard: (typing at his terminal) Hey Jack.

Jack: (hugs a little tighter)

Shepard: Jack are you alright?

Jack: (kisses Shepard on the cheek) Love you. (lets go and walks out)

Shepard: (turns to see that Jack has left the cabin) ...Love you too.

Jack did something foolish or reckless and is concered how Shepard will react. Or 2. Jack is *going* to do something stupid and reckless and, in case something might to happen to her, well, you get the idea.

Yeah, I see the above happening if, say, she was planning on getting herself captured by Cerberus in order to get important intel or something.

i like that version, why cant she just be showing affection just to be a girlfriend. she dont always have to bad talk shepard, that is a unhealthy relationship. Geez i dont know about u guys but my Shepard like jack if she does something like that but she can still be her self to all them other ppl if she want because that who i grew to like .
