Well, that was nipped in the bud quite efficiently

I must say that I agree completely with Wynne on the fact that EDI is rather childlike emotionally and it would just be wrong for her to be romancable. It would make me really uncomfortable - and not just if it was Joker.
I would begrudgingly accept it if the writers decide to put Joker with anyone else, (even if I can't imagine him with anyone other than Shepard) but not EDI. It's just- no. No. It gives me the heeby jeebies.

I noticed some new names on this thread - welcome!

I was some days away and it seems I missed a lot...

On this page here are some videos for the gamescon Q&A sessions linked and additionally some of the information that was given during the Q&A sessions. 

I must say I was really surprised that so many people (around 30 in twitter) should have asked for a Joker/EDI romance. Besides some occasionally guests in our thread I never noticed a Joker/EDI thread or something similar and I hope that Bioware has at least given a look in our thread to see that we do not support a Joker/EDI romance pairing.

Maybe Silverman has just overread in this short time all the twitter messages and thrown Joker/EDI and Joker/Shepard together? Or was he joking concerning the 30 messages? Even with our fanbase for Joker/Shepard I would not expect 30 messages at once - or maybe it was only from one or two persons spamming twitter?

And strangely enough Mike Gamble said concerning the Joker/EDI romance that this was popular in the Mass Effect games.... ? EDI is only part of ME2, not ME1, so what did he mean? I suppose it was a mistake and he meant that Joker and EDI were a popular because funny couple in ME2.

As I can't really see how a romance between Joker and EDI should work (and I agree that it would not fit to EDI) I suppose it is part of the ME3 funny banter dialogue between both. We know that there will be more dialogue between Joker and EDI to give the game more funny aspects. Maybe the team will mock Joker for having feelings for the Normandy/EDI whereas Joker respects EDI but his "love" for the ship is not a romantic one (like someone who really loves his/her car). This could either let Joker to focus on Shepard (his true love of course ) to stop the rumors and because he thinks a rejection from Shepard cannot be worse than the rumors he would love EDI or it is a starting point for Shepard to show Joker what she/he really feels.

All information regarding romance is strictly kept secret by Bioware - so it is kind of strange that Mike would speak about a possible Joker/EDI romance... I think we should not dwell to long on this - Mike was teasing and a little mean ("Miranda? Is she in ME3?...") so the question is how serious we can take this information.

In the third Q&A (unfortunately I could not find a video to check it out myself) it seems that it was said that we will have a lot more romance options and it may not be only team members(!)

But I have a bad feeling not concerning Joker but Shepard in ME3 - I hope they don't let Shepard and his/her LI die at the end - there must be a way to end Shepards story without death.

Thanks for linking the summarized Q&A info! I haven't seen day 4's Q&A yet, but the whole "ME3 will make you cry!" snippet really worries me. I hope and cross my fingers that the only outcomes won't be to have your LI sacrifice him/herself to save the galaxy/Shepard, or Shepard sacrificing him/herself to save their LI/the galaxy. Shepard deserves at least one option to save the galaxy and live a long, happy life with his/her LI as they both walk into the sunset together, promising a happily ever after while being accompanied by Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear the Reaper."

Also, I'm happy to see that Kal'Reegar makes a return (crosses fingers for a possible romance between him and Tali if Shepard rejects her), Legion will get a larger role, Shepard's background might be integrated into the story, and possibilities of "not-limited-to-party-members" romance options.

But crap, I'm off-topic, aren't I? Lemme backpedal, here...

I'm beginning to accept this viewpoint as well. Maybe Mike used the term "romance" loosely and probably only meant that it will mean more flirtation dialogue between Joker/EDI, crewmembers teasing Joker, and hopefully opening up the door for Joker to slip up and admit his feelings for Shepard or vice versa.

Joker: Look, these rumors are killing me. I like EDI, but not like that. I mean, the only woman on this ship I've ever even felt that way about was-
*Joker snaps back into reality, realizing he is talking to Shepard*
Joker: Uhh...
Shepard: ...Joker?
Joker: Err... I-I just realized, Commander, I... I have some calibrations that need... err, calibrating.
EDI: The calibrations are at optimal settings, Jeff.

You do realize that when they were saying that they think we will be happy with the Joker/EDI romance that it could mean that they both have a separate romance. EDI with some other computer and Joker with whomever?

I would love to see Joker as a femshep LI,
it would give me a reson to make a 3rd femshep, to go with my 3 male sheps
OCD thing
i never liked any of the new femshep LI in ME2(thane was a maybe cause he is soo bad ass, but his illness would break my femsheps heart:( ),
and it would just be approrate, scence he was in all 3 games

next off Wow 100 pages, i never thought this would have this much support

Aughh.... can't take it anymore. Oki, been absent because of exam, no forum-time and no gaming. No need to tell you that this sucks big time but there it is. Except, here I am.... No idea what the current discussion is but I'll catch up with you guys when I'm back.

The last thing I did before gaming-stop was finishing ME with my hopeful Joker-FemShep-girl. Such a great dialogue with him right after you stole the Normandy.



Joker: Aw, damn it. No sign of pursuit? I was hoping the Council would send some ships after us. I was looking forward to putting the Normandy through it's paces. Figured I'd get to see what this ship can really do.
Shepard: Saren's still out there. Maybe we'll get a chance to play hide-and-seek with Sovereign.
Joker: You know, it doesn't seem like much fun when you say it, Commander.

And... considering the beginning of ME2. Be careful what you wish for!

Joker get's to take one last look at FemShep before she's hurled out into space... really bad day at the job.

I have no problem with there being a Joker/shep romance, however (I think it was the gamescon Q&A) there was something about Shepard romancing joker I think, and possible EDI/Joker romance, however BioWare could just be troolin.

Also, this guys is curious as to how many of you people will cry in sorrow if Joker sacrifices himself to kill a reaper or save everyone at some point in the game.

Yeah, we saw that stuff from the gamescom Q&A - honestly, I'm just gonna ignore it and hope for the best. I highly doubt Bioware is gonna let much slip story/LI wise, so we're just going to have to wait and see.

I would probably cry if Joker died. I would probably cry if any of my squad died, but especially Joker   That being said I cried a little when I Virmire'd Kaidan. What can I say? I'm a crier xP

 I just read this as well. I'm hoping this doesn't mean they arent going to include it... but don't want to to upset everyone by saying no to it now. I'd dump Kaidan on at least one of my three FemShep's for Joker.

As for Joker and EDI... please. Joker is such an awesome character and he deserves better than an AI.

They also said ME3 will make you cry... Shoker fans will cry if they don't get some Joker loving!

There's 100+ pages here, and in the ME2 forum there were 300+! There is so much support for Joker, because he is just that awesome.

There's a bunch of Shoker fan art on deviantart.com. I forget what the name of it is called, someone more enlightened in the ways of deviantart can tell you.

I love the picture I found of legion in the haters gonna hate pose, I can't believe I haven't seen any of the Legion lovers use it as well.

Also, imagine how many news casters are gonna have a heart attack if joker and EDI are in a relationship or if shepard and Legion have one.

Thank-you for your support, TurianFan. It must have taken guts to step outside the boundaries of your comfort zone to support a potential LI, seeing as you are a big fan of Garrus. I too am a big fan of Garrus, but you don't see me trolling other romance threads do you? I am an adult and respect other people's interests, unlike some people on the BioWare Forums.

I actually could see a romance being quite...........emotional to put it best.

I mean if it were to happen I could see them having where Legion suddenly starts to begin feeling these strange things (emotions to us) whenever he is around Shepard, because of this he trys constantly to put together information as to why he feels this yet can't find a conclusion, then in a talk with Shepard he ask what these strange feelings are.

Whoa way off tpoic now lets get back to the main point.
