@Phantom: I keep my fingers crossed for you and your old account. I know how it feels - some weeks ago they changed the passwords for some accounts (because of the hacked NWN forums, I never had an account there but anyway) but the information mail took some time and so I thought wtf is wrong? The problem is that you can only post for help in the forum and on the EA page if you have a functional account... great. So I made a new "help" account myself too. And some days ago I could not login for half a day to my account because of server connection issues... *sigh* - so anyway, good luck to you!

@Offcast: you know that happens even with english magazines/sites because they tend to interpret things or try to come up with something new to get more counts on the page or more magazines sold and because misunderstandings can happen and/or because Bioware changed their opinion on some topics....

I think Casey Hudson wrote once that we can only rely on an information if we see it in the final game because it is possible that planned things are changed during the process.

But I must say it is interesting what information we receive - Casey said sometime ago that they are in final production stage and it seemed that changes (besides minor things) could not be done from this timepoint on. But Mac Walters said in a twitter message that they are not done with all the voice actors yet and it is possible that in the following months they have to record additional lines. So at least this seem to be a minor change. I think a romance like Shepard/Joker could still be implemented if it is not already part of the game.

Hmh, I don't think that he said something about him. You can find the twitter messages that give us a hint for a Joker romance in the first post on page 1. Besides that - no idea, sorry.

yeah yeah xD people in our russian community have already celebrating news about Joker, lol.we are very funny and naive nation :В

And SEXY. I'm not hitting on you, I swear (Mongo straight!) but I just had to get that off my chest. I love the accent. It's beautiful.

I swear, even though it was just an Asian guy faking it, I found myself becoming disturbingly fond of Dominic Brayko from Alpha Protocol. When you start to like a cokehead who prostitutes his sisters and tries to kill the living daylights out of the main character of whom you are rather fond, that's when you start to scare yourself. ;)

Actually, I'd have to take the
other side on that one. It's much harder to make your point and be epic
in half the words. I tend to be a wordy person, so it comes out in my
writing. XD Read her fic, there's no "child's play" there. Lol. You
won't regret it, I promise, it's really good.

I knew I thought you were a kindred spirit for a reason! ;)(Well, another one besides the reason we pretty much all have for being here--fantastic taste in video games and their characters.:D)

Well it depends, is the coupling
about joker and fem!shepard? I ask since I am not a fan but not a hater
of the pairing, I am neutral on it.

Have you ever seen this Mass Effect 2 scene before?

If it isn't already the case for you, try to imagine for a moment that your best friend in the world was also of your preferred gender and pretty sexy in a normal kinda way. This is somebody who gets you like nobody else, who can always make you laugh, who never lets you down. Somebody who means more than just some fling, or one of those learning relationships you have before you find the person you're meant to be with. Somebody who always makes some hidden, buried part of you think, "Dammit, why can't I find a guy/girl like you?" because it's always so easy to relate to them. So easy to feel close to them and happy with them. But you never thought of them that way before, so you don't for a very long time.

Then it dawns on you. This sneaking, unbidden thought creeps in: "Wait... why not?" Sure, you think of them as being like a sibling now... but that doesn't quite settle the question. Sometimes, two people are just friends, just sibling-surrogates. Sometimes that's exactly what they should be, what they were meant to be. But just once in a while, it simply hasn't hit either of you yet that what you were both looking for all this time... was right there under your nose all along.

Combine that with having that person as your boss or employee, while working hard on saving the world, and you can see a bond that has been developing a long time.

And, I mean, if your best friend is your best friend, then sure, that's that. But if you had a best friend who happened to also be pretty hot... well, who better to give it a try with than them?

Plus, compare Joker/Shepard to Shepard and anyone else in the series, and you see how unique a romance it would be. This is why I love the pairing, because Joker reminds me of the kind of guy you could actually fall for in real life, whereas Kaidan and Garrus and Thane and most of the others are sort of esoteric choices. Not that I don't like them, I just mean that Joker would be a refreshing change of pace that way.

Also, I've never heard of a romance with a handicapped person in a sci-fi setting. I'd love it if he were an option because it says that a person having a condition doesn't mean he's not man enough for the strongest woman in the galaxy. It's so incredibly much the opposite of shallow.

Also, Seth Green rocks. You've gotta give me that one, if nothing else. ;)

Ohh, I sincerely hope bioware
doesn't give us another Kelly/Samara. Kelly is so vague it's
frustrating. You have no idea what they did during "dinner" and after
the SM, there's nothing to indicate that she does anything more than
give you a sexy dance... and dry cuddle.

Samara is... well,
goodness... obviously, she'll have a lot to think about (she hasn't had
feelings for another in centuries), so I can understand Bioware saving
her romance for the third game.

Yeah, Kelly isn't really a romance, just a fling, though I wouldn't mind if they upgraded her. Samara on the other hand, I would LOVE to see become a romance. I'm straight, so that's pure character-love talking. I ship her with a certain kind of Shepard much like I ship Joker with a certain kind of Shepard, and I am dying to roleplay that out. It would be so unique and so intelligent a romance.

I'll understand if they don't do it, but... I love Samara. I want to see if her having a child with Shepard would result in a normal asari. I want her to be happy and have a child that will live and thrive like she hoped so hard her other children could do. I want her daughters to be happy because she's having the baby they can't have. I want sunshine and bunnies and fluffy rainbows in her future! I don't want her life to end with that dream unfulfilled.

I don't even know if I want kids yet, but Samara... she obviously did. I want her dream to come true. :crying: Samara...

...I am so off-topic right now. I'll stop. (Samara!)

Oh God, that video:crying:

"Joker, tell them - "
"You tell them - you're not doing this to me again."

Hale's voice acting is sublime - I can't watch that ending without tearing up a little.

Yeah, the bad ending hurts me every time... I know he says the same for Maleshep, but there's something different about the way it's done with him and Femshep. Like, he really wants to tell her something, but can't... and the aftermath hurts when TIM basically says "Alright, thanks Joker. Return my ship to port and screw off."
Hoping and crossing my fingers for a tender Femshep/Joker moment in ME3... come on, Jokermance!!!

Yay for youtube =) every time I watch that ending I go *sniffle* it's so strong. But I haven't been able to play through it myself. Think it would be even worse to see with my own FemShep. Now, if there isn't any Joker-romance.... that might just be the appropriate ending for her.... If I can go through with it.

Sweeeet! B) Sometimes I wish I could have these discussions in RL, because I make points a lot faster when I talk vs. type. Lol!

I love Mass Effect because of the characters. They have so much dimension and thought put into them that you actually feel like they're people you know, people you care about. Kind of like Firefly's characters, in a way. I could literally tell you more things I like about each ME character than things I dislike...and with most of them, there isn't anything I don't like. Samara is one of those characters.

I totally hear you on Samara, she's my Shep's homegirl. I really ought to stop by the Samara thread and put some words down, because I want her to be as badass in ME3 as she was in 2 and even more so. She's got the wisdom of a matriarch, the bad-assery of a Spectre, and is a tragic figure, as well. By far my favorite asari character.

Aaaand back to Joker. Lol. My Shepard has a unique relationship with all her team members; Tali's like the little sister, Garrus is the battle buddy, Zaeed is like the second father, etc...but Joker has always been her wit's equal and for that, he is the only person Skylar really feels comfortable getting into verbal sparring matches with. She knows that he'll never take anything the wrong way, and she knows that he'd never reveal a secret to anyone, so she trusts him completely. They've come to trust each other implicitly, and they don't need words to communicate that, they never have. Maybe she doesn't realize that Joker is perfect for her, but that's all the better, because realizing someone was under your nose the whole time and you didn't notice is sometimes a good feeling. :)

Edit: Sooo...forgot to mention that I was bored all day driving in my car and I had a lot of time to think of some interesting goodies to put in my fic. Katanas, fighter ships, Kal'Reegar...oh, this is gonna be fun:D.

Eh! It makes me sad that I've missed this thread while browsing until now.
I've been hoping to *accidentally :D* see a spoiler about a joker romance but no such luck.
I wish they would throw us some hints or tiny spoilers about the romances!

I ship Samara with a Shepard that takes no bull and has a strong sense of justice, but still tries to see the universe with new eyes. He'll probably be from a Colonist/Ruthless or War Hero background. Probably War Hero. Batarians still attack, and Shepard gets people to defend their own home. Although...Samara may see that as him putting innocents in danger. Hmmm. May have to think on that.

NEVER POST THAT VIDEO AGAIN! *runs away crying*

Poor Joker. I swear, Fate seems to have it out for him with that ending. However, I loved Joker's expression at the very end when he is looking at the Reaper schematics - this look of determination crosses his face, as if he's thinking:

"No. She would have flicked him off and hyjacked the Normandy to save the galaxy. I don't care. I'm fighting this."

I don't exactly know if that will end well, or how it plays out, but BioWare said they may have a "special treat" for those who import a dead Shepard. I am VERY curious. Would Joker go back to the Citadel and pick up the VS or something? Answer for Shepard's crimes for her/him?

Damn. That man is just full of awesome-sauce. BioWare did an awesome job writing him.

Now...please don't kill Joker, Bioware. :crying:

But Wynne, I TOTALLY agree with you on a fresh romance path - especially the one you describbed. I adore Garrus's romance; it is adorable, sweet, and at the end you get the feeling that something more will happen between Shepard and Garrus. Joker and Shepard...however...their relationship, no matter how friendly, has been building up for two games with no flirt dialogue, and a brief conversation about how much Shepard meant to everyone (and we can all assume Joker wanted to say how much she/he meant to him, but I think Joker is too shy, and/or respects regulations). Joker is Shepard's best friend and...well, there's this saying:

"Eventually one will fall in love with the other. It'll either be on time, too late, or too early. But eventually, it will happen." Link!

I firmly believe in that because I fell in love with my best guy friend in high school. It was at the wrong time however (REALLY wrong), and unrequited. But it happened - it was inevitable.

Let's hope it doesn't turn out that way with Joker! Because that...that would just suck. Lol!

Zaeed is like Sky's second father? Awesome. I've always seen Zaeed as the crazy uncle who tells awesome stories. He's really an excellent character, I respect him a lot. *mutters in an aside* I wouldn't mind jumping him either, but that's for another thread.

And Joker's the guy you go to for a good laugh, and valuable input. He comforts Shepard, and helps her/him see things in another way so she/he doesn't dwell on it. That's why I love the "good old days" conversation between them.

*Puts on his speculating gear (top hat, monocle) and puffs a few clouds of smoke from his Victorian pipe*

Now, I've actually come up with a rather interesting theory behind this while at work (yes, this is one of several things I think about while doing my job. Lol). If I may, what if... what if Casey Hudson pulled a J.K. Rowling with Jennifer Hale and Seth Green? I'm referring to when J.K. Rowling "tutored" Alan Rickman on factoids about future books that were not yet published so that he may play his character correctly throughout the series (Rickman was one of the only people that knew major spoilers concerning Snape in the last two books). So, I have a theory that Ser Hudson did the same thing with Ms. Hale and Mr. Green when they recorded that scene. Maybe (just maybe, not predicting anything) Hudson clued them in on optional future endeavors concerning our two heroes getting involved in "more-than-just-friends" territory? Perhaps?
Mark Meer, on the other hand, was probably told to just read his lines (not allowing him the priviledge of reading between those lines).

*removes speculating gear; extinguishes pipe*

Anyway, just an interesting theory I thought I'd share with you guys! It's definitely another "grasping at straws" moment, but still gives you something to think about in the meantime! ;)

I have never done the suicide ending, can't bring myself to and I tried to watch that but my stupid speakers make the music drown out what they are saying, but I get the general gist, Joker looks so sad and Shepard looks so defeated.

I don't think Joker's SHEPARD at the end was heart wrenching enough though, just MO.
