I haven't posted much lately, because I was busy with my studies, but I'm glad that the thread is still in tip top shape... and that the trolls still aren't able to come up with new arguments, oh well...
As I can see, I'm not the only one who is desperate for new info I'm pretty satisfied with default FemShep (since I adore red-heads), but I'd welcome some Joker treats as well.
The thing I'd like to hear about the most (apart from his romance potential) is his background. We don't really know much, do we? In ME1, he was regarded almost as a part of the ship. In ME2, it was considerably better, but still no word about his family or any other personal input. I'd love to see it rectified since he's one of a few stable crew members who were with Shep from the beginning.

I think I shall be forever shunned in the Garrus thread. Kinda feel like a hypocrite coming back in here, because I stated that an actual kiss with Garrus may not be possible because he and Shep are allergic to each other. And then two others jumped in and said that it's only half true since not everyone is allergic to peanuts, right? I had a Homer Simpson "d'oh" moment, and agreed with them. Went back in today and everyone's pissy I brought that minor complication up.

They remind me of us defending Joker. XD

But yes...Phantom feels like a hypocrite. *hangs head*

I knew an allergic reaction may not be possible - my brain just didn't register it until someone pointed it out. Oh well. They'll forget me in a week, and hopefully I'll have my account back by then, and I can jump right back in with no one the wiser.

Back to Joker:

They must be staying tight-lipped about Joker because he may play a major part. But then again, they're staying quiet about every other squad member as well. Wtf, Bioware. We don't ask for much...okay, we asked for a romance, and that is a lot, but cut us a break. XD Give us a screenshot, or even a new quote?

We do know that his mom worked as a contractor on Arcturus Station, and that's where he grew up. Supposedly his desire to fly was inspired by growing up on the station and seing the ships fly by all the time. We never hear about his dad, though, so most of us speculate that Joker's father wasn't in his life for some reason.

We also have some reason to believe that as of the events of ME2, Joker's mother is dead. If you stand behind him on the bridge, he quips something about, "If only Mom could see me now...then we'd have zombies on top of all our other problems. Oh wait, sorry Commander." Other than that, anything else is speculation.

I'd really like to know more about his early career, Academy and just after commissioning stuff. And if his mom is dead, I'd really like to know why...also I'd like to know about any other family relations. If we get a romance, it is much more likely these kinds of things will come to light.

@Phantom - Don't feel too bad, I've often wondered the same thing. I thought that dextro-DNA was so foreign to and incompatible with our systems that it was rare for people to not be allergic. Perhaps the game didn't go as much into depth on that particular nuance as it should have? *Shrugs* Seems to me that it was at least an intelligent observation with some thought put into it as opposed to, "Dontcha know Joker's bones will break during sex? Hur hur." Ignorance can be a dangerous thing, I guess.

Don't worry - people in the threads for their beloved character are always a little bit sensitive - you know that from our own Joker thread. Even if someone mentions something in a very nice and gentle and objective way as you did, the people only read "oh my god the bad word was mentioned" and start to defend. I think we all do the same and sometimes it appears harsher than wanted because we told it so many times and explained it over and over again and even stated it in the OP and then still people come and say those words as they would be the first with this idea.

I find Mordins advice funny but I don't take it really serious - Shepard is more Cyborg than normal human and I don't expect Tali to have a suicide wish - she knows best what she can do and what not. For Thane it could be a last time of happiness and Garrus has already survived a grenade to his face so I don't think he will be afraid about an allergic reaction. Mordin even warns about the biotics - I would expect the biotics have their power under control and already being together with other people - so I don't see Shepard in danger here either. And I suppose Mordin would have something to say about Jokers condition and of course - he just wants to make sure that Shepard is careful - if he would really think it would kill either Shepard or the LI he would be more drastically to ensure the mission is not at risk but instead he hopes that Shepard has fun.

And yes - I want more information regarding Jokers past too! Some stories about his life, maybe he can met someone from his flight school times on the Normandy maybe as his co-pilot or shuttle pilot.

Hmm.... a few of you have written about the lack of knowledge about Joker and his background before Normandy. And indeed about what happened inbetween ME and ME2. Oki, it is all out galactic war so perhaps there isn't much time for chit-chat but I'm hoping for something more with Joker. Have slowly resigned myself to the fact that they won't tell us in advance if he is a LI. But it would be really nice with just some info on the guy. Why was he grounded in the first place? What happened there. He will be flying the Normandy so the Alliance will just have to live with that. Augh... just a small tweet or screenie to discuss would be awesome =) I want info

You are right, there are some important open questions that have not been answered yet.

I was wondering about this too - why was he grounded? Only because he did not leave the ship directly after it was hit? Is it wrong that he tried to buy the crew time by staying and trying to control the ship? I still think it is Shepards fault, standing in front of the escape pod and watching the view instead of jumping in the pod together with Joker.

Ken and Gaby are telling Shepard in ME2 that the alliance started to question Shepards findings about the reapers and at least Ken got nearly fired because he defended Shepard. Maybe something like this happened to Joker? If people in the alliance that were not even part of Shepards team believed Shepard and Shepards story, what about the own crew and squadmates that were part of Shepards missions? 

We know that Joker will be the pilot of the Normandy in ME3 and again part of the alliance - I would expect some kind of punishment for Joker for joining Cerberus so willingly just to be pilot again. Unless there is more to it - maybe Joker was secretly giving information to the alliance? But I can't imagine that Cerberus/TIM would not know about this.

Oh and Silent: you should try the Garrus romance, at the beginning it iseems to be only about sex but later and in the final romance scene it gets really sweet (you can check youtube first before you start a new playthrough).

I actually think this is the first time in the game Shepard actually smiles at Joker (if anyone wants to know, this happens before landing on Noveria).

Since I'm on the subject, do you think Kasumi gossips about Shoker?

Kasumi: I think Joker and the Commander would make a great couple... I doubt either of them realizes it, yet! XD

Seriously, I don't know why some people find EDI and Joker pairing cute or appealing. Somebody please explain it to me. Yes, they are funny together and yes, some individuals may think they're fliring with each other, but we're talking about a full-fledged relationship here and that's just... beyond ridiculous... EDI is a computer-produced voice... I can't even... *mental capacity failure*

Ugh I completely agree with Paterik, the Joker/EDI relationship is strictly platonic and anything more than that would just be so..gah. I would actually be angry if they implemented a Joker/EDI romance ¬_¬
Still looking forward to ME3, Athena has been waiting for two games for her snarky pilot and she will get him no matter what
