What if we got all these 'hints' from twitter wrong and they're actually gonna pair him with EDI? God, if that happens I will CRY.

ME TOO!

I just don't see how anyone can romance a computer. Androids are different, but this is just....blech. That launches things into the realm of the really, really nerdy, really weird kid that thinks computers are sexy.

Plus, Joker deserves better than an artificial woman...er...disembodied voice.

*eye twitches* Disembodied voice? Ugh. That just...ugh! I think I just threw up in my mouth a little. That makes me hate Joker/EDI even more. Hurp.

Joker with Shepard... no i dont think it would work very well.

Joker and EDI?...Platonic.
Joker and Shepard?...Realistic.

You are right, there are some important open questions that have not been answered yet.

I
was wondering about this too - why was he grounded? Only because he did
not leave the ship directly after it was hit? Is it wrong that he tried
to buy the crew time by staying and trying to control the ship? I still
think it is Shepards fault, standing in front of the escape pod and
watching the view instead of jumping in the pod together with Joker.

Ken
and Gaby are telling Shepard in ME2 that the alliance started to
question Shepards findings about the reapers and at least Ken got nearly
fired because he defended Shepard. Maybe something like this happened
to Joker? If people in the alliance that were not even part of Shepards
team believed Shepard and Shepards story, what about the own crew and
squadmates that were part of Shepards missions?

We know that
Joker will be the pilot of the Normandy in ME3 and again part of the
alliance - I would expect some kind of punishment for Joker for joining
Cerberus so willingly just to be pilot again. Unless there is more to it
- maybe Joker was secretly giving information to the alliance? But I
can't imagine that Cerberus/TIM would not know about this.

I can imagine Joker going ape-**** after the Council and the Alliance dismissed Shepard's claims. Angry Joker...that would be scary. It's the non-socibal ones you need to watch out for - they watch people, and whoever becomes thier friend they protect like an overprotective Edward Cullen. After his outburst, Joker most likely would have been declared unfit for duty and grounded. And his outburst would have been noticed by TIM as well (like Ken's), and correspondence ensued.

Garrus would have gone nuts, too; probably right up there with Joker. Wrex would have shot at the Alliance/Council and left. Tali would have risen hell. Kaidan/Ash would have defended Shepard, but they're under the Alliance's heel, and would have backed off after some ground time. Liara would be in denial, and later be contacted by Cerberus to retrieve Shepard's body.

And I doubt Joker would have accepted TIMs offer so readily. Joker knew what Cerberus has done. TIM would have to offer something big aside from upgrades for his legs. Maybe he said that they were after the Reapers as well, and took Shepard's warnings seriously. That would have gotten Joker's butt in gear.

Or it could be that Joker was with Cerberus all along. TIM could have noticed that Joker pushed himself above everyone else. I believe TIM is a sort of human collector - whoever is the best, TIM wants for his cause.

I can't wait for the trial, personally.

If there is some sort of Joker/EDI thing my opinion of the ME team writers will go WAY down.

It's just... WRONG, I don't know, it just makes me feel really uncomfortable, and no, it's not just because I want Joker for myself - I would feel this way about any type of Legion or EDI romance.

It just reminds me way too much of Hal 9000 :crying:

WHICH reminds me of a Joker quote :  "You start singing Daisy Bell and I'm done." :P

@Phantom

I completely agree!  Joker wouldn't be afraid to voice how angry he was either because he wouldn't give a damn what The Council thought about him.
Ash and Kaidan, I believe, would have been more reserved about it - they say it themselves - they're Alliance soldiers, but Joker.... I saw Joker as the Normandy's pilot first, and an Alliance pilot second.  He even leaves the Alliance because they wouldn't let him fly.

I really hope he isn't some type of Cerberus agent, though.... That'll make my Shep feel like she's lost her best friend...

Joker/EDI would make me feel uncomfortable too. I don't want to walk in on something...questionable. :pinched: UGGGHHHH THE IMAGERY. *scrubs brain with bleach*

And I think you're right about Kaidan/Ashley. While I'm sure they're just as torn up about the news, they're soldiers first and foremost, just like they said on Horizon. Joker was in the Alliance so he could fly, and have it mean something - and to prove himself to everyone. XD I'm sure he wasn't prepared for Shepard to mean something to him. But yes, I can definitely see Joker blowing a gasket when they backslid on her warnings.

Not sure how I would feel if Joker ended up being with Cerberus. Think I'd be upset at first, and then I guess I'd understand why he was with them. It would be tense for a bit, certainly, but I wouldn't care after a while. If he ends up putting a gun to my head, then we'll have problems. XD

Playing through ME1 again...and we all know how it goes:

Joker: So commander. Why don't you tell me why you're really up here.
Shepard: I can't. :crying:

BTW: I finally sarted an M!Shep playthrough that I'm sticking to! And I am actually rather surprised I did well with him in the CC - I always have trouble creating male characters. But allow me to say...

HE'S HAWT. :o

I also would find joker/edi creepy and a little shallow, offencive, and really quite silly!

I havent started any of my male sheps yet (or redoing the ones I want to see through - not sure if I should have my m/m shep as a sheploo or a custom - hmmmm) but today I did start my first ever playthrough with an ME1 LI and I have to say - I was wrong about Kaidan, he is just so sweet :)!! Cant see myself romancing Ashley at any point soon as she annoys me too much but I do have plans for a Liara loyal femshep

@Victia I'll admit Kaiden tugged at my heartstrings my first playthrough, until I killed him on Virmire. (totally unintentional, I swear I thought we'd all make it out.) but even after the full romance, playing ME2 really makes me want my flyboy. Loyal, sarcastic, confident, what more could anyone want.

Sounds like a good idea! You can call anyone you romance up to your cabin for a cuddle - makes sense they should move in too. So yes, I'd love for Joker to move in. XD

I'm dropping in (and will be likely be sticking around) to show my support for Joker in general and the Joker-mance in particular. Because by God do I ever want to jump his (fragile) bones. I even made a Shepard just for him! (Mind you she hasn't even reached Eden Prime yet, but that's just in case Joker ends up not being an LI in 3 - I don't want to have a Shep who's single through all 3 games. I need my human element)

I haven't read the whole thread (yet, I'm working on it) but the past few pages have lead me to this:

Regarding Joker's dad - he does make an offhand remark if you hover over him in ME2 which sort of implies that his dad was around in some way. "You want luck on your side? Never wash your hat. Dad told me that. I think."

Regarding Joker and EDI - ok 1) She's a voice/the Normandy. I mean Joker loves his ship but he doesn't take it that far. 2) EDI even explicitly states that their relationship is platonic and not hormonally driven courtship rituals. 3) Their relationship is more like that of siblings, with the older sibling (EDI) alternatively fussing and retaliating against the younger sibling's (Joker's) pranks.

Welcome, welcome! Please, have a seat and a cookie. :D I think Phantom was passing them around...

Anyway, yes, I do remember that little quip about not washing hats now. I had almost completely forgotten about it! Thanks for bringing that up.

Joker and EDI definitely have a sibling-type relationship, don't they? I don't think I've thought about it like that before, but it makes total sense.

Hia dpMeggers and welcome =) always happy to see new people.

Jupp, I don't even want to think about EDI/Joker.... bad enough to know that bioware might be thinking of it....*ihh* Come on, we have so much unfinished business with Joker. That must for a good base for a interesting romance-arc. How did he take Shepard's death, he sounds so sad when he said "We were your team". Oki, I want to read something more into it but oh well =)

So as far as I see it. FemShep has her to-do list sorted for ME3

steals a cookie Welcome dpMeggers. Their relationship definitely reads as platonic to me. He even calls her mom!

I'm inclined to think that Joker joined Cerberus as a double agent for the Alliance. ITA he probably blew up about how dead!Shepard was being treated but I just can't see him as Cerberus (sorry PhantomGinger) and that's why he's still the pilot on the SR2.5.

Joker confided in the VS about Cerberus contacting him. The VS went to Anderson and the 3 of them cooked up the idea to infiltrate Cerberus.

It makes sense to me that the reason we can't ask Joker about why he joined Cerberus in ME2 is because it's tied to a ME3 plot point so it couldn't be revealed.

Lol, nah, I wasn't attached to the idea. I was just speculatin'. :wizard:

And all this speculatin' is making me believe that Joker's a bit more crafty than we think. It's always the anti-social ones you have to watch out for. In a good or bad way.

However, if Joker turns out to be a genuinely nice guy, I will be pleased. ^_^

But this is BioWare. They have to screw everything up. *looks pointedly at Anders* :crying:

No! Not my Anders! Why Jennifer Hepler?! Why?!?! David Gaider, how could you let her do this?!?!
Well, Jennifer Hepler isn't a good writer (no offense Jennifer). I mean, she wrote Sebastian who I used to love, but now hate. Not to mention he's the worst LI ever.
Hopefully Ms. Hepler stays faaaaaaaaaaar away from ME3.
No trashing me for hating her. That was my nice way of putting it. -_-

Ya that's sort of a pet theory of mine as well. Either he or Chakwas is reporting everything to Anderson/Hackett (but nobody else because they all suck).

@PhantomGinger and  @DeadlyHaven ... at the risk of getting off topic ... I like new Anders. And Hepler wrote most of the Hespith/Branka questline which I also liked. But *shrugs* YYMV. (Agree that Sebastian was a prat. Liked him as a Character in that he made me want to punch him in the face).

And now back to your regularly scheduled Joker.

A question - does anyone else think of him as part French? Moreau is a French surname, and I've seen it mentionned in a few fics - notably Persephone Rising by ansinna. Or is consensus that like everyone else in the melting pot of the future his name is just kind of there?

@dpMeggers

I think he's part French in that he has French ancestry, but I don't think it's as close as parents.

My surname is Weiss, which is German. My Great, Great, Great, Great, Great Grandfather (Grandfather's Grandfather's Grandfather's Father) was German, but I don't see myself as part German. I've never been to Germany and the only German I know was taught to me at school.

Plus with all these 'translator' things people seem to have, I doubt it really matters where he's from - he could be speaking Swedish for all we know xD

I agree she did a good job in Dragon Age: Origins, with the Dwarven things, but she really dissapointed me in Dragon Age II, and I have to say her writing didn't live up to her previous work.

I personally have no problem with the idea of someone merging with Justice; I think it's interesting. I would have really liked it, if it had been with another character (perhaps a new one). It's just that I liked Anders old, sarcastic, funny self, so I hated seeing it go.

Off topic.... um.... I love Joker?

I see Joker as French-Canadian, with his family originating from Quebec. In my fic, he only spoke French to his mother, but hasn't spoken it at all since she passed away. I believe Joker is fluent in French in Sorrel's fic, Tiger By My Side, as well.
